Matt Duchene Hopes To Stay In Dallas

Dallas Stars forward Matt Duchene wishes to extend his stay with the team and is willing to settle for less money to make it happen. "Money is definitely not the No. 1 bucket and never has been for me," Duchene said while talking on The Sweet Spot on Sports Radio 96.7 FM/1310 the Ticket. Duchene added that he hopes to figure out a new contract "quickly" with Dallas. The veteran forward inked a one-year, $3 million deal with the Stars last summer after the Nashville Predators bought out the final three years of his seven-year, $56 million deal with the club. Duchene enjoyed a solid 65-point campaign in Texas, posting 25 goals and 40 assists in 80 games.

Matt Duchene Ends Second-Round Series With Overtime Winner

Dallas Stars forward Matt Duchene scored off a net-front scramble in double overtime of Game 6 to secure Dallas' spot in the Western Conference Final. Duchene's goal gave the Stars a 2-1 win over the Colorado Avalanche, sending the former packing. In a "puck don't lie" moment, Duchene scored the game-winner after being involved in a controversial goaltender interference call earlier in overtime that many thought should have ended the game in the Stars' favor. It ended up not mattering, though, as Duchene scored his second goal of the postseason at the most opportune time. He's added four assists to total six points in 13 playoff games in a depth role for the Stars.

Matt Duchene A Game-Time Call Tuesday

Dallas Stars forward Matt Duchene (lower body) is considered a game-time call for Tuesday's matchup against the Rangers. He was a late scratch for Monday's meeting with Boston and might have to sit out a second consecutive game. The Stars have called up one of their top prospects, Logan Stankoven, from the AHL to fill in for Duchene if needed on Tuesday. The 20-year-old has been on fire in the minors, producing a league-high 57 points (24 goals, 33 assists) in 46 AHL appearances.

Matt Duchene Dealing With Lower-Body Issue

Dallas Stars forward Matt Duchene missed Monday's contest against Boston with a lower-body injury. Duchene took part in the pre-game warm-ups but didn't play. It was the second game Duchene missed this season. His absence was a major blow for the Stars, as Duchene has been one of the team's in-form players lately, going for multiple points in four consecutive outings. He's totaled 22 goals and 55 points in 54 games for the season. Sam Steel skated in Duchene's spot on the second line Monday.

Matt Duchene Contributes With Three Points In Loss

Dallas Stars center Matt Duchene scored a power-play goal and added two assists in Saturday's 4-3 overtime loss against the Oilers. Duchene recorded his third three-point game of the season, while his point scoring streak improved to four consecutive games with a total of nine points over that span. Duchene is having a quality bounce back season in his first year as a member of the Stars with 22 goals and 55 points to put him in a tie for the team lead through 54 games.

Matt Duchene Powers Dallas' Offense On Monday

Dallas Stars forward Matt Duchene recorded a game-high three points as the team took down Seattle 4-3 in overtime on Monday. Duchene scored two goals and posted a primary assist on Thomas Harley's game-winning goal 2:16 into the extra frame. Following a mini-slump, Duchene has heated up again by logging four goals and six assists over a seven-game stretch. He's found his way on the score sheet in each of the last four games, becoming the fifth Star this season with double-digit goals. Duchene has posted 27 points in total across 29 outings in his first season in Texas.

Matt Duchene Will Not Play Monday

Dallas Stars forward Matt Duchene will not be in the Dallas Stars' lineup when the club takes on the visiting Boston Bruins on Monday night. Duchene is listed as day-to-day with an undisclosed injury after leaving Saturday's contest against the Vancouver Canucks early following a second-period hit by Canucks defenseman Ian Cole. After being bought out by the Nashville Predators this summer, Duchene inked a one-year, $3 million deal with the Stars and has notched two goals, five points, and 22 shots across his first 10 games in a Stars uniform. The veteran is approaching the 1,000-game mark as he's skated in 986 regular-season contests, tallying 318 goals and 749 points in that time. He is a borderline fantasy asset at this point as his 16:43 of average ice time is his second-lowest mark since the 2011-12 campaign.

Predators Buying Out Matt Duchene's Contract

Nashville Predators forward Matt Duchene is set for unrestricted free agency after the team announced that it is buying out the final three years of his contract. Duchene's contract had an $8 million cap hit and he was due $20 million in actual salary over the next three seasons. The Predators will carry $2.56 million of dead cap space for Duchene in 2023-24 and he won't be off the books until after the 2028-29 campaign. This is the second major move from Nashville in a short space of time after Ryan Johansen was traded to Colorado on June 24. Duchene had an up-and-down time in Music City after arriving from Columbus as a free agent in 2019, but he was the team's leading goal-scorer last season with 22 markers and had 56 points in 71 games, which put him behind only Roman Josi.

Matt Duchene Delivers Three Assists In Thursday's Win

Nashville Predators right wing Matt Duchene recorded a hat trick of assists in Thursday's big 6-2 victory over San Jose. Two of his helpers came on the power play. The 32-year-old got back in form after having posted only one point across his previous four appearances. The Predators will need consistent offensive from Duchene, now that Ryan Johansen (leg) has been ruled out for the rest of the regular season. He leads all forwards on the team with 46 points in 55 games, having notched 17 goals and 29 assists.

Matt Duchene Logs Three Points In Friday's Win

Nashville Predators right wing Matt Duchene factored in three goals in Friday's 4-1 win over the Islanders, grabbing a pair of power-play assists and scoring his sixth goal of the season at the end of the game with the net empty. It was his lone shot on the net and Duchene also had one hit in 19:01 of ice time. It appears that the Predators have finally broken out of a slump and Duchene has been one of the main catalysts, tallying six points during the team's three-game winning streak. He has moved to six goals and 15 assists for the year with 23 games played.

Matt Duchene Scores Two Goals In Loss

Nashville Predators forward Matt Duchene finished with two goals and an assist in Saturday's 7-4 loss against the Blues. Duchene's two-goal effort gives him 31 on the season, which gives him the most among Predators skaters. Duchene has had multi-goal performances in four of his previous five games, giving him eight goals over the five game span. Duchene is a must-start player across all leagues for his recent stretch of elite production in the goal scoring department.

Matt Duchene Delivers Two Assists

Nashville Predators forward Matt Duchene helped to set up two goals in Thursday's 4-3 shootout loss to Columbus, picking up a pair of assists in quick succession in the second period. His second helper came with the man advantage. The former Blue Jacket is having a wonderful campaign with 27 points in 28 games. It was a slow start for him at first, but Duchene then exploded for 19 points in November. He was a bit quiet again in December, but that will hopefully lead to big things in January. Nashville kicks off the 2022 action against Chicago on Saturday.

Matt Duchene Good To Go On Wednesday

Nashville Predators forward Matt Duchene is game-ready on Wednesday against Washington, returning from an upper-body issue. He last played on Dec. 9 and didn't feature in four games prior to the Christmas break. Duchene has been one of the main offensive catalysts for the Predators this season with 25 points in 26 games, and he's tied with Filip Forsberg for most goals on the team with 13 markers. The 30-year-old has shown signs of slowing down this month, recording only one point in four games, so it will be interesting to see if he can pick up his game following the injury layoff.

Matt Duchene Misses First Game Of The Season

Nashville Predators forward Matt Duchene has been ruled out of Friday's contest against the Devils with an upper-body injury. He will sit out his first game of the season. Duchene's first two years in Music City haven't gone according to play, but he's enjoyed fine form in 2021-22 with 25 points in 26 games. He's considered day-to-day, so the team is hoping to get him back soon. Philip Tomasino, who's tallied four goals and three assists this season, takes over Duchene's spot on the second line Friday night.

Matt Duchene Nets Another Goal On Saturday

Nashville Predators center Matt Duchene scored late on Saturday in a 6-2 loss to the Colorado Avalanche. Duchene scored with less than four minutes remaining in the game to make it 5-2 at the time. His goal was the 13th on the season already. That gives him a total of 22 points in 21 games. Duchene fired five shots on goal also. Consider that his career-high in goals is just 31. While another 70-point season is questionable, if the center stays healthy, he very well could break his own career mark this season. Duchene is on that kind of shooting run where he could stay around a 15-18% conversion rate all year.

Matt Duchene's Two Goals Help Beat St. Louis

Nashville Predators center Matt Duchene scored once to start the Predators' comeback after a rough first period. Then, with the score tied in overtime, Duchene put the puck past Jordan Binnington one more time. That resulted in a 4-3 overtime win. The center also added an assist to give him a three-point night. Overall, Duchene now has eight goals on the young season. Few could have expected this given how poorly the last two seasons had gone. Duchene now has 14 points in 14 games for Nashville.

Matt Duchene Hands Out Three Assists

Nashville Predators forward Matt Duchene came alive on Sunday against Minnesota, picking up three assists in a 5-2 win. He had one power-play and two even-strength assists, helping Roman Josi, Ryan Johansen and Filip Forsberg to score. Duchene ended the night with a plus-two rating and added three shots and two penalty minutes to his stat line. The two-time All-Star has struggled over the past couple of seasons, and the start to 2021-22 hasn't gone very well for him either, but Duchene is logging heavy minutes in the top six and is surrounded by enough talent to become a consistent scorer again.

Matt Duchene Logs Two Points In Nashville Victory

Nashville Predators center Matt Duchene produced two goals on Monday versus the divisional-rival Carolina Hurricanes. The Predators ended up blanking Carolina by a score of 5-0. Duchene netted his fifth and sixth goals in 2021. He's been hampered with a lower-body injury that has limited him to playing in just 34 regular season contests. With the win, Nashville completed their regular season. Duchene and the Predators will once again face off against Carolina in the first round of the playoffs.

Matt Duchene Makes His Return On Saturday

Nashville Predators forward Matt Duchene (lower body) will be back in the lineup for Saturday's road contest against Carolina. He's missed well over a month of action, last skating in a 5-4 loss to the Panthers on March 4. It's been a disappointing year for Duchene, who has recorded only three goals and eight points in 23 games, but the Predators have completely turned around their season during his absence and are looking like a much better team, which should also lead to much better performances from Duchene.

Matt Duchene Scores Twice In Nashville Win

Nashville Predators forward Matt Duchene notched his first goals of the season on Thursday, potting a pair in a 6-5 overtime win against Florida. Duchene made it 3-3 during the second period and then scored another game-tying goal on a power-play to make it 5-5 with just over four minutes to go in regulation. He had four total efforts on goal in the game and delivered three hits. Duchene has been very quiet through the start of the season, as he only had three points in nine games ahead of Thursday's action, but maybe this will get him going now. At least he gets to face the Panthers' fragile defense again on Friday.
