Matt Duchene Continues to Sit Saturday

Dallas Stars forward Matt Duchene (upper body) will be sidelined for a 14th straight game on Saturday night against the Philadelphia Flyers. The veteran remains day-to-day but no timeline has been set for his return. With Jamie Benn (upper body) also not ready to make his season debut, Dallas will continue to rely heavily on Wyatt Johnston and Roope Hintz in the middle. Johnston has replied well to taking on more responsibilities, leading the Stars with 11 goals. He is second in scoring behind Mikko Rantanen with 21 points in 18 appearances. 11 of Johnston's points have come in seven November outings.

Matt Duchene to Remain Out Saturday

Dallas Stars forward Matt Duchene (upper body) hasn't traveled with the team for Saturday's contest against the Nashville Predators, Stars' beat writer Robert Tiffin reports. The veteran is set to miss his 10th consecutive game. However, the good news is that he is expected to travel with the team next week when the Stars face the Ottawa Senators and Montreal Canadiens on the road. Duchene has contributed one goal and one assist in four outings this season, recording three shots on goal. With Jamie Benn (upper body) also sidelined, Sam Steel has seen regular top-six action. He has picked up four of his six points this season in the past three games.

Matt Duchene Remains Out Thursday

Dallas Stars forward Matt Duchene (upper body) will miss a ninth straight game on Thursday against the Anaheim Ducks. The veteran has skated in only four contests this season, recording one goal and one assist. It's unclear when Duchene will be ready to return, but the Stars could have Roope Hintz (undisclosed) back in the lineup against the Ducks. His return will probably lead to a reduced role for Sam Steel. Duchene's next chance to return will be during a back-to-back set this weekend against Nashville and Seattle.

Matt Duchene Remains Sidelined Thursday

Dallas Stars forward Matt Duchene (upper body) will miss a fifth straight game on Thursday against the Tampa Bay Lightning. The veteran is battling to overcome an upper-body injury, which has limited him to only four appearances this campaign. Dallas is also set to remain without Roope Hintz (undisclosed) on Thursday, leaving the team without two key pieces of the offense. As a result of the injuries, Sam Steel has landed on the first line, while Tyler Seguin and Wyatt Johnston are filling the top-six center positions.

Matt Duchene Expected to Remain Out Saturday

Dallas Stars forward Matt Duchene (upper body) is expected to miss a third consecutive game on Saturday against the Carolina Hurricanes, Stars beat writer Robert Tiffin reports. Duchene is still day-to-day with an upper-body injury but could potentially return for Sunday's game against the Nashville Predators. The Stars attack also remains without Jamie Benn (upper body), although he has begun skating individually. With the two veterans out of the lineup, Sam Steel and Mavrik Bourque have larger roles. However, the duo has been largely ineffective, combining for only three points so far.

Matt Duchene Sits Out Second Consecutive Game

Dallas Stars forward Matt Duchene (upper body) will be out for a second consecutive game on Thursday against the Los Angeles Kings. The veteran continues to deal with an upper-body injury and has featured just once in the past three games. Duchene has opened Year 17 in the NHL with two points (one goal, one assist) in four games. The Stars have struggled to generate offense without him and will go with a new-look attack on Thursday night. Sam Steel is set to skate on the first line, with Mavrik Bourque also continuing in a top-six role.

Matt Duchene Misses Tuesday's Action

Dallas Stars forward Matt Duchene (upper body) has been ruled out for Tuesday's contest against the Columbus Blue Jackets. Following Monday's practice, he was labeled as probable, but the team will allow Duchene some time off to recover from a lingering upper-body injury. The Stars are expected to have Justin Hryckowian in the lineup on Tuesday instead of Duchene. Meanwhile, Wyatt Johnston and Mavrik Bourque could experience increased usage. Johnston has started the season with a five-game point streak, scoring a team-high four goals.

Matt Duchene Probable for Tuesday's Game

Dallas Stars forward Matt Duchene (upper body) is probable for Tuesday's matchup against the Columbus Blue Jackets, Lia Assimakopoulos of The Dallas Morning News reports. The former Blue Jacket returned from an upper-body injury on Saturday night against the St. Louis Blues, but the issue is still bothering Duchene, who sat out Monday's practice. It's been a slow start to the campaign for Duchene, as he boasts only two points (one goal, one assist) through four appearances. Tuesday looks like a good spot for him to get going, as Columbus allows 34.4 shots and 3.00 goals per game.

Matt Duchene Unavailable Against Canucks

Dallas Stars forward Matt Duchene (upper body) will skip Thursday's action against the Vancouver Canucks. Duchene was hurt in Tuesday's 5-2 victory over the Minnesota Wild and will miss his first game of the campaign. His absence will likely give Wyatt Johnstone the second-line center role, with Radek Faksa also moving up in the lineup to join the third line. Meanwhile, Adam Erne is set to see his first minutes of the season. Duchene, who has tallied one assist and one goal in three contests this season, took part in Thursday's morning skate, so he could be back in the lineup very soon.

Matt Duchene Injured in Tuesday's Win

Dallas Stars forward Matt Duchene (upper body) was injured in Tuesday's 5-2 victory over the Minnesota Wild. Duchene exited the action in the third period after receiving a hit from Wild defenseman Jake Middleton. The team plans to evaluate Duchene on Wednesday. Before leaving the contest, Duchene scored a power-play goal, which ended up as the game-winning tally. It was his first goal of the season, and the 34-year-old has also registered one assist through three games this season. Radek Faksa, who also scored in Tuesday's win, may see more ice time if Duchene has to skip some games, while Adam Erne could step into the lineup as his replacement.

Matt Duchene Signs Four-Year Extension

Dallas Stars forward Matt Duchene has inked a four-year extension with the team. The deal is worth $18 million, keeping Duchene in Texas through the 2028-29 NHL season. Duchene has revitalized his career in Dallas, and this season, he averaged at least a point per game for only the second time in his 16-year NHL career. The 34-year-old scored 30 goals and dished out 52 assists in 82 appearances. Another 30-goal campaign would give him 400 career markers next season, and Duchene is closing in on 900 career points. After leading his teams in points and assists in 2024-25, there is no reason to believe Duchene won't remain a potent offensive force next season.

Matt Duchene Records Two Assists In Game 7 Victory

Dallas Stars forward Matt Duchene finished Saturday's 4-2 win in Game 7 against the Colorado Avalanche with two assists. Duchene's passing played an important role in Dallas' third-period comeback. His helpers came during the power play, transforming a 2-1 deficit into a 3-2 lead. It was a good finish to an otherwise quiet opening round for Duchene, who failed to score against his former team with 10 shots on the net and had three assists across seven games. He has yet to register any even-strength points this postseason, going minus-six. The Stars will definitely want to see an improvement from the veteran in Round 2.

Matt Duchene Hopes To Stay In Dallas

Dallas Stars forward Matt Duchene wishes to extend his stay with the team and is willing to settle for less money to make it happen. "Money is definitely not the No. 1 bucket and never has been for me," Duchene said while talking on The Sweet Spot on Sports Radio 96.7 FM/1310 the Ticket. Duchene added that he hopes to figure out a new contract "quickly" with Dallas. The veteran forward inked a one-year, $3 million deal with the Stars last summer after the Nashville Predators bought out the final three years of his seven-year, $56 million deal with the club. Duchene enjoyed a solid 65-point campaign in Texas, posting 25 goals and 40 assists in 80 games.

Matt Duchene Ends Second-Round Series With Overtime Winner

Dallas Stars forward Matt Duchene scored off a net-front scramble in double overtime of Game 6 to secure Dallas' spot in the Western Conference Final. Duchene's goal gave the Stars a 2-1 win over the Colorado Avalanche, sending the former packing. In a "puck don't lie" moment, Duchene scored the game-winner after being involved in a controversial goaltender interference call earlier in overtime that many thought should have ended the game in the Stars' favor. It ended up not mattering, though, as Duchene scored his second goal of the postseason at the most opportune time. He's added four assists to total six points in 13 playoff games in a depth role for the Stars.

Matt Duchene A Game-Time Call Tuesday

Dallas Stars forward Matt Duchene (lower body) is considered a game-time call for Tuesday's matchup against the Rangers. He was a late scratch for Monday's meeting with Boston and might have to sit out a second consecutive game. The Stars have called up one of their top prospects, Logan Stankoven, from the AHL to fill in for Duchene if needed on Tuesday. The 20-year-old has been on fire in the minors, producing a league-high 57 points (24 goals, 33 assists) in 46 AHL appearances.

Matt Duchene Dealing With Lower-Body Issue

Dallas Stars forward Matt Duchene missed Monday's contest against Boston with a lower-body injury. Duchene took part in the pre-game warm-ups but didn't play. It was the second game Duchene missed this season. His absence was a major blow for the Stars, as Duchene has been one of the team's in-form players lately, going for multiple points in four consecutive outings. He's totaled 22 goals and 55 points in 54 games for the season. Sam Steel skated in Duchene's spot on the second line Monday.

Matt Duchene Contributes With Three Points In Loss

Dallas Stars center Matt Duchene scored a power-play goal and added two assists in Saturday's 4-3 overtime loss against the Oilers. Duchene recorded his third three-point game of the season, while his point scoring streak improved to four consecutive games with a total of nine points over that span. Duchene is having a quality bounce back season in his first year as a member of the Stars with 22 goals and 55 points to put him in a tie for the team lead through 54 games.

Matt Duchene Powers Dallas' Offense On Monday

Dallas Stars forward Matt Duchene recorded a game-high three points as the team took down Seattle 4-3 in overtime on Monday. Duchene scored two goals and posted a primary assist on Thomas Harley's game-winning goal 2:16 into the extra frame. Following a mini-slump, Duchene has heated up again by logging four goals and six assists over a seven-game stretch. He's found his way on the score sheet in each of the last four games, becoming the fifth Star this season with double-digit goals. Duchene has posted 27 points in total across 29 outings in his first season in Texas.

Matt Duchene Will Not Play Monday

Dallas Stars forward Matt Duchene will not be in the Dallas Stars' lineup when the club takes on the visiting Boston Bruins on Monday night. Duchene is listed as day-to-day with an undisclosed injury after leaving Saturday's contest against the Vancouver Canucks early following a second-period hit by Canucks defenseman Ian Cole. After being bought out by the Nashville Predators this summer, Duchene inked a one-year, $3 million deal with the Stars and has notched two goals, five points, and 22 shots across his first 10 games in a Stars uniform. The veteran is approaching the 1,000-game mark as he's skated in 986 regular-season contests, tallying 318 goals and 749 points in that time. He is a borderline fantasy asset at this point as his 16:43 of average ice time is his second-lowest mark since the 2011-12 campaign.

Predators Buying Out Matt Duchene's Contract

Nashville Predators forward Matt Duchene is set for unrestricted free agency after the team announced that it is buying out the final three years of his contract. Duchene's contract had an $8 million cap hit and he was due $20 million in actual salary over the next three seasons. The Predators will carry $2.56 million of dead cap space for Duchene in 2023-24 and he won't be off the books until after the 2028-29 campaign. This is the second major move from Nashville in a short space of time after Ryan Johansen was traded to Colorado on June 24. Duchene had an up-and-down time in Music City after arriving from Columbus as a free agent in 2019, but he was the team's leading goal-scorer last season with 22 markers and had 56 points in 71 games, which put him behind only Roman Josi.
