Colin Blackwell News
Chicago Blackhawks forward Colin Blackwell had an impressive three-point outing as the team ended a five-game losing skid with a 4-3 home victory against Calgary on Sunday. Blackwell scored the team's first and final goal, adding an assist between the two strikes. His game-winning goal came on the power play. The 30-year-old logged over two minutes with the man advantage and had 19:35 of total ice time as the Blackhawks started life without Connor Bedard (jaw) and Nick Foligno (finger). Overall, Chicago has eight forwards out injured, which has given Blackwell a much larger role and an opportunity to impress. Blackwell had posted only two points across nine appearances this season before his outburst on Sunday.
Chicago Blackhawks center Colin Blackwell (sports hernia) skated after practice on Saturday. The 30-year-old had sports hernia surgery all the way back in March and was supposed to recover in three months. However, Blackwell still wasn't fully healthy when training camp kicked off. He has now taken a step towards a potential return, although it's still unclear when Blackwell will be game-ready. The American forward posted 10 points (two goals, eight assists) in 53 games with the Blackhawks last season. It was an unproductive campaign for him, but Blackwell has previously proven himself as a useful bottom-six piece, having averaged over 0.4 points per game for the New York Rangers and Seattle Kraken in previous years.
New York Rangers winger Colin Blackwell went into Sunday's clash with the Islanders having scored four goals in five games and his good run of form should continue next week as the Blueshirts square off with the Devils four times. New Jersey has the fourth-fewest wins in the league and waved the white flag this week by trading Kyle Palmieri and Travis Zajac. The Rangers scored six goals against them in both of the last two meetings, and there will certainly be chances for more here with the Devils owning a league-worst 71.7 percent penalty kill. Blackwell skates on New York's second power-play unit and on the second line with Ryan Strome, who's been consistently putting points on the board for a month now, and Artemi Panarin, who averages the third-most points per game in the league. Kaapo Kakko has also quietly been productive in recent games and could have success against New Jersey, and even Alexis Lafrenire might help a few fantasy managers out after picking up some momentum lately.
New York Rangers winger Colin Blackwell notched the game-winning goal in Friday's 4-1 victory over the Islanders, registering his 12th goal of the season in the middle of the game. Alexis Lafrenire, K'Andre Miller and Mika Zibanejad took care of the rest of the goals. Blackwell, who's scored in four of his last five appearances, must be pinching himself regularly as he skates on a line with Artemi Panarin and Ryan Strome. The 28-year-old had managed just 33 career games ahead of the current campaign. He's already skated 31 times this season, quietly becoming one of the team's best goal-scorers. Blackwell, who sits on 17 points, will look for more success against the Islanders on Sunday before starting a very favorable four-game set versus New Jersey.
