Billy McKinney, Anthony Misiewicz Re-Sign With Yankees

Outfielder Billy McKinney and left-hander Anthony Misiewicz have both re-signed with the New York Yankees. Both contracts are of the minor-league variety. McKinney, whose career began with New York in the 2018 season, returned to the organization in the 2023 season and hit .227 with six home runs and one stolen base across 147 trips to the plate. His 101 wRC+ suggests his production was 1% superior to the league average. As for Misiewicz, the 29-year-old made 11 MLB appearances between the D-backs, Tigers, and Yankees in the 2023 season and worked to an unhealthy 7.36 ERA in that time. The southpaw owns a career 4.71 ERA across 130 big-league outings, most of which came with the Seattle Mariners as he made a career-high 66 appearances out of the Mariners' bullpen in the 2021 campaign.

Anthony Misiewicz Hit By Comebacker

New York Yankees relief pitcher Anthony Misiewicz (face) was taken off in a cart Friday night after being hit in the head by a line drive. Ji-hwan Bae hit a 100.6 mph comeback shot that connected with Misiewicz's head on the left side. He stood up on his own power so hopefully, everything will be alright for the left-hander. Well wishes go out to him during this time.

Cardinals Acquire Anthony Misiewicz

The St. Louis Cardinals acquired relief pitcher Anthony Misiewicz in a trade on Wednesday, the team announced via a tweet from their official Twitter account. Per the tweet, St. Louis sent cash considerations to the Kansas City Royals for the left-hander, who appeared in 32 games for the American League Central club last season. In those 32 games, Misiewicz pitched to a 4.34 ERA, a 4.08 FIP, 27 strikeouts, and 10 walks in 29 innings while registering a win and four holds. He'll give the Cardinals some additional bullpen depth heading into the 2023 season. As of now, St. Louis bullpen options include the likes of Giovanny Gallegos, Ryan Helsley, Chris Stratton, Jake Woodford, Andre Pallante, Jordan Hicks, Drew VerHagen, and Packy Naughton.

Anthony Misiewicz DFA'd By Royals

The Kansas City Royals designated left-hander Anthony Misiewicz for assignment on Friday to make room on the 40-man roster for starting pitcher Zack Greinke, who was officially re-signed on a one-year deal. The 28-year-old southpaw pitched for the Royals and Seattle Mariners last season and had a combined 4.34 ERA (4.08 FIP), 1.28 WHIP, 10 walks and 27 strikeouts in 29 relief innings over 32 appearances out of the bullpen. He had a 4.11 ERA, 1.11 WHIP and 19 strikeouts in his 15 1/3 innings with the Royals to close out the year. If Misiewicz clears waivers, he could return to the team as minor-league relief depth for 2023.

Anthony Misiewicz Designated For Assignment

Seattle Mariners relief pitcher Anthony Misiewicz has been designated for assignment. The Mariners made a bevy of roster moves on Sunday and needed to clear space. The 27-year-old left-hander owns a 4.61 ERA, 1.46 WHIP, and 8:6 K/BB ratio over 13 2/3 innings of relief this season.

Robert Dugger and Anthony Misiewicz Reinstated from COVID List

Seattle Mariners relief pitchers Robert Dugger and Anthony Misiewicz were reinstated from the COVID list Saturday, just one day after being placed on it. Wyatt Mills and Aaron Fletcher were demoted to Triple-A to make room on the active roster. The implication is that Dugger and Misiewicz were considered possible close contacts of a player that tested positive, and they have now cleared testing. Drew Steckenrider and Will Vest remain on the COVID list for Seattle.
