Anthony Seigler Emerging as a High-Floor Waiver-Wire Target

Since being promoted to the big leagues in early June, Boston Red Sox infielder Anthony Seigler is hitting .298/.375/.456 with one home run, three RBI, 10 runs scored, and two stolen bases. The 27-year-old has emerged as Boston's near-everyday second baseman and leadoff hitter in recent games. Seigler may not carry much power upside for fantasy managers, as he owns a 2.2% barrel rate across 137 career MLB plate appearances. Still, he logged a 16.4% walk rate across 159 Triple-A plate appearances before his promotion this season and a 16.9% walk rate across 307 Triple-A plate appearances in 2025. Seigler also stole 23 bases across 72 minor league games last season, so he carries some speed upside to go along with his stable batting average and on-base production. In deeper league formats, Seigler could be a worthy waiver wire target for fantasy managers.

Red Sox to Promote Anthony Seigler to Majors, Worth a Deep-League Add?

The Boston Red Sox are promoting third base prospect Anthony Seigler to the big leagues, per Tommy Cassell of the Worcester Telegram & Gazette. A former first-round pick out of high school by the New York Yankees back in 2018, Seigler did not make his MLB debut until 2025 as a member of the Milwaukee Brewers. The 26-year-old struggled in a small sample size for Milwaukee, hitting .194/.292/.210 with zero home runs, five RBI, six runs scored, and two stolen bases across 73 plate appearances. However, Seigler has impressed across 127 plate appearances with Triple-A Worcester in 2026, hitting .298/.425/.471 with three homers, 21 RBI, 14 runs scored, and three stolen bases. The Red Sox have gotten miserable production out of third baseman Caleb Durbin, who owns a .539 OPS across 185 plate appearances. If Seigler hits the ground running in Boston, there could be an opportunity for him to work his way into everyday playing time at the hot corner.

Anthony Seigler Heads to Boston in Trade

The Boston Red Sox acquired infielder Anthony Seigler from the Milwaukee Brewers on Monday, a source told MLB.com's Mark Feinsand. Seigler struggled in his MLB debut in Milwaukee last year, slashing only .194/.292/.210 with a .501 OPS, no home runs, five RBI, two stolen bases, eight walks, and 16 strikeouts in 34 games and 73 plate appearances. The 26-year-old left-handed hitter was much better in 72 games at Triple-A Nashville, hitting .285/.414/.478 with an .892 OPS, eight home runs, 39 RBI, 51 runs scored, and 23 stolen bases. In Boston, he'll provide the BoSox with defensive versatility with the ability to play third base, second base, both corner outfield spots, and catcher. With minor-league options remaining, Seigler will be expected to open the 2026 campaign at Triple-A Worcester. He has a .230/.369/.370 slash line with a .739 OPS in seven minor-league seasons.

Anthony Seigler Getting Promoted to Majors

Milwaukee Brewers catcher and infielder Anthony Seigler is getting called up to the major leagues, reports Francys Romero. The youngster has played all around the infield this season in Triple-A, making appearances at catcher, second base, and third base. He signed a minor league deal with the Brewers this offseason with low expectations, after not panning out for the Yankees since being drafted 23rd overall in the 2018 draft. However, he has been dominant in the minors this year, slashing .278/.416/.469 with seven home runs, 35 RBI, 43 runs, and 20 stolen bases in 62 games. He'll likely serve as a utility man for the big league club, but his versatility will leave him with many opportunities to hit his way into the lineup. The 26-year-old isn't a must-add in most fantasy leagues, but he is an intriguing option for deep roto leagues.
