Connor Norby Exits After Getting Hit by a Pitch

Miami Marlins first baseman Connor Norby (elbow) was forced to make an early exit from Sunday's game against the New York Mets. Norby was hit by a pitch on his left elbow during the fourth inning of Sunday's contest. He took his base and played another inning before exiting the contest due to left elbow discomfort. Before leaving, Norby was 0-for-1 at the plate with his lone time reaching base being a hit by pitch. The expectation is that the organization will have Norby undergo further testing. It wouldn't be shocking to see Norby miss a game or two from this issue. Graham Pauley replaced him at first base and could see increased playing time going forward.

Connor Norby Set to Start at Third Base for Marlins?

MLB.com's Christina De Nicola has Connor Norby projected as the Miami Marlins' starting third baseman for the start of the 2026 regular season. Graham Pauley (elbow) was expected to compete for starting third base duties with Norby in spring training, but Pauley remains in a no-throw status due to an elbow injury and has been relegated to the designated-hitter role in Grapefruit League games. Norby "will need to continue improving on defense" and "showing better plate discipline," but as of right now, he appears to have a leg up on playing time at the hot corner in Miami to begin the 2026 season. The 25-year-old Norby needs to make more contact at the plate to keep the third base job. He's hit .276 (8-for-29) with a home run, three RBI, three runs scored, no walks, and 11 strikeouts in 11 Grapefruit League games. In deeper leagues, Norby is certainly worth a late-round flier for his moderate power/speed upside.

Connor Norby to be in Platoon Role?

Miami Marlins third baseman Connor Norby began last season on the injured list and was on the IL three separate times in 2025. Overall, it was a disappointing first full season in Miami for the former second-round pick, as Norby finished with a .251/.300/.389 slash line, .689 OPS, eight home runs, 34 RBI, 42 runs scored, and eight steals in 88 games (337 plate appearances). MLB.com's Christina De Nicola writes that the right-handed-hitting Norby could fall into a platoon at third base with Graham Pauley if neither player stands out in spring training or early in the regular season. Pauley also might have an advantage at the hot corner because of his stellar defense. Norby is expected to get some reps in the outfield this spring, so the Marlins may be grooming him for a potential utility role. Norby is merely a deep-league flier with a career strikeout rate just south of 30%.

Connor Norby Activated from Injured List

Miami Marlins third baseman Connor Norby (quadriceps) was activated from the 10-day injured list on Monday. He only needed to miss the minimum number of days with his quad strain, and he'll step back in as the team's primary third baseman. The 25-year-old was a trendy sleeper pick in deep roto leagues heading into the year, but he ultimately has not lived up to expectations. Norby is batting just .247 with a .298 on-base percentage, while hitting six home runs in 77 games. His three trips to the injured list certainly didn't help him find a groove, as he missed time with quad, wrist, and oblique injuries.

Connor Norby Will Start Rehab Assignment on Thursday

Miami Marlins third baseman Connor Norby (quadriceps) has made a quick recovery from his left quad strain, and he could be ready to come off the injured list when he's first eligible on Sunday. He'll start a rehab assignment on Thursday in Triple-A Jacksonville. Norby has been limited to just 77 games this season due to multiple injuries, hitting .247 with six homers, seven stolen bases, 36 runs scored, and a .294 wOBA. He went 6-for-18 (.333) with three doubles in his five games with the team after recovering from a broken hamate bone that kept him sidelined since the All-Star break. If Norby can get back in the lineup and stay healthy, he'll be worth a look if you need some infield help for the last few weeks of the season.

Connor Norby Going Back on the Injured List

Miami Marlins third baseman Connor Norby (undisclosed) is going back on the 10-day injured list with an undisclosed injury on Friday, according to Craig Mish. In a corresponding move, the Fish are recalling infielder Maximo Acosta from Triple-A Jacksonville, and he'll be a candidate to see playing time at the hot corner going forward. It's been an injury-plagued year for the 25-year-old Norby, who has played in only 77 games in his first full year in Miami while slashing .247/.298/.373 with a below-average .671 OPS, six home runs, 31 RBI, 36 runs scored and seven stolen bases. Depending on the specific nature of Norby's injury, he could very well miss the rest of the regular season with less than a month left of play. In addition to Acosta, Javier Sanoja could also see regular playing time at third in Miami with Norby out again.

Connor Norby Expected to Return Friday

Miami Marlins third baseman Connor Norby (wrist) is expected to come off the 10-day injured list on Friday. Norby has been on the shelf with a broken left hamate bone since July 12 and had to undergo surgery to repair it. The 25-year-old has played in 72 games this season and hit .241/.289/.364 with six homers, 26 RBI, 33 runs scored, and seven stolen bases in 273 plate appearances. Maximo Acosta and Javier Sanoja have been splitting time at third base lately, but Norby should return as the starter at the hot corner. He went a sizzling 10-for-25 with three HRs over eight games and 29 plate appearances during his Triple-A rehab assignment.

Connor Norby to Start Rehab Assignment on Wednesday

Miami Marlins third baseman Connor Norby (wrist) will start a minor-league rehab assignment at Triple-A Jacksonville on Wednesday, according to Christina De Nicola of MLB.com. Norby is finally ready to play in games again after having surgery to fix a fractured hamate bone in his left hand in the middle of July. The Fish just put Graham Pauley (oblique) on the 10-day injured list on Monday, so until Norby is able to return, the Marlins will likely give most of the starts at the hot corner to Javier Sanoja. If the 25-year-old Norby doesn't have a setback with his hand during his rehab assignment, he could return to the Marlins at some point next week. When he's eventually activated from the IL, Norby will finish the year as Miami's starting third baseman. Before his injury in his first full year with the Fish, Norby was hitting .241/.289/.364 with six homers, 26 RBI, 33 runs and seven steals in 72 games.

Connor Norby Takes Batting Practice on Wednesday

Miami Marlins infielder Connor Norby (wrist) continues to rehab following wrist surgery in July. He participated in batting practice on Wednesday, although he is not expected back until the end of August at the earliest. Norby had surgery to repair a broken left hamate bone, and this type of surgery tends to zap the hitter's power when they first return. Norby hit six home runs and swiped seven bases over 72 games this year before his injury. The next step in his recovery program would be to get some live reps, followed by a rehab assignment.

Connor Norby Undergoes Surgery, Expected to Miss 6-8 Weeks

Miami Marlins third baseman Connor Norby (hand) had surgery to fix a broken hamate bone in his left hand on Wednesday in Arizona, according to Craig Mish of Sports Grid. Norby is expected to miss six to eight weeks. The 25-year-old won't be able to return until at least late August, leaving him little time to help fantasy managers the rest of the way in 2025. In single-year fantasy leagues, managers must weigh the cost of holding the former second-rounder into the second half of the season if they have other roster needs. In 253 at-bats in the first half for the Fish, Norby slashed .241/.289/.364 with a below-average .653 OPS, only six home runs, 26 RBI, 33 runs and seven stolen bases. Heading into the second half without Norby at the hot corner, expect the Marlins to mix and match at third base with Graham Pauley and Javier Sanoja.
