DFS players should look to avoid Feltner in this start as he will have a tall task ahead of him.

Feltner will make the start on Monday at Coors Field against the Miami Marlins. He threw 2 2/3 innings for Albuquerque on Aug. 21 in a minor-league rehab start and gave up five runs (three earned) on four hits with two walks and three strikeouts. Manager Bud Black had been hoping Feltner would have gone three or four innings, so expect him to be on a pitch count in his first start back on Monday. It's a great matchup for the 27-year-old, but we still wouldn't recommend him as a streamer, especially at Coors.

Feltner hasn't really been a fantasy asset in standard-sized mixed leagues, as he's gone just 1-10 on the year with a 5.00 ERA (4.30 FIP) and 1.41 WHIP with a career-high 107 strikeouts and 39 walks in 122 1/3 innings over his 23 starts for the Rockies. However, he hadn't allowed more than three earned runs in any of his last eight starts, dating back to June 26.

It was a pleasant surprise from the 27-year-old who posted a 5.82 ERA in 2023 (10 starts) and a 5.83 ERA in 2022 (19 starts) while averaging less than a K per inning for his career. With that track record, fantasy managers will want to see him prove himself consistently before rostering him though. He'll get another chance next Friday in Toronto against the Blue Jays.

Barring injuries or roster additions, Feltner will be competing with fellow righties Peter Lambert and Noah Davis, plus non-roster lefty Ty Blach. After returning from his head injury late in 2023, Feltner ended the year on the injured list with elbow inflammation and finished 2-4 with a 5.82 ERA (4.18 FIP) and 1.68 WHIP with 28 walks and 38 strikeouts in 10 starts. The 27-year-old showed increased four-seam fastball velocity when he returned late last year after relying more on his two-seam sinking fastball earlier in the year. If Feltner can stay healthy and become more of a power pitcher, he could have a shot to stick in Colorado's rotation.
