Ryan Feltner Reinstated and Sent to Minors

The Colorado Rockies announced on Friday that they reinstated right-hander Ryan Feltner (back) from the 60-day injured list and optioned him to Triple-A Albuquerque. The team also outrighted outfielder Sam Hilliard to Albuquerque after he cleared outright waivers. The Rockies want to see more from Feltner after he gave up two home runs and nine walks in 10 2/3 innings on his minor-league rehab assignment with the Isotopes. The 28-year-old made six starts with the Rockies before his injury this year and posted a 4.75 ERA (4.34 FIP) and 1.48 WHIP with 25 strikeouts and 12 walks in 30 1/3 innings over six starts. Feltner also made a career-high 30 starts for Colorado last year, so he figures to be a starting rotation option for the team at some point in the second half. At best, he's a matchup-based deep-league streamer on the road in fantasy.

Ryan Feltner Throws 66 Pitches in Rehab Outing

Colorado Rockies right-handed pitcher Ryan Feltner (back) threw 66 pitches in his latest rehab outing with Triple-A Albuquerque on June 27. In this outing, Feltner allowed seven hits and six runs (five earned) across 3 2/3 innings of work. The 28-year-old has been on the 60-day injured list with back spasms since being shut down in late April. During the opening month of the campaign, Feltner logged 30 1/3 innings to the tune of a 4.75 ERA and a 1.48 WHIP. So far, Feltner has made three rehab appearances (8 1/3 innings) but has struggled, posting a high 6.48 ERA. Fantasy managers should continue to monitor his status as he is expected to make at least one more rehab outing with Triple-A before being in contention to return to Colorado. When he does return, he will likely slot in at the back of the starting rotation and only carry value in deeper NL-only formats.

Ryan Feltner Feels Good After Rehab Start

Colorado Rockies right-hander Ryan Feltner (back) reported feeling healthy after throwing three innings (52 pitches) for Triple-A Albuquerque on Saturday in his second minor-league rehab start, according to MLB.com. In his first rehab start in the rookie-level Arizona Complex League last Monday, Feltner went 1 2/3 innings. The 28-year-old has been out since late April with back spasms and was put on the 15-day injured list back on May 2. He's eligible to come off the IL this Saturday, but it's unclear if he'll need another couple starts in the minors before that happens. When Feltner is ready to return to the big leagues, he won't be guaranteed a spot in the Rockies' starting rotation. In six starts before his injury, he went 0-2 with a 4.75 ERA (4.32 FIP) and 1.48 WHIP with 25 strikeouts and 12 walks in 30 1/3 innings pitched.

Ryan Feltner Getting Close to Rehab Assignment

Colorado Rockies right-hander Ryan Feltner (back) reported feeling less discomfort in his back when he threw a bullpen session on Monday than he did during his previous bullpen, according to MLB.com. If his next bullpen session goes well, Feltner expects to start a minor-league rehab assignment. The 28-year-old landed on the 15-day injured list on May 2 due to back spasms, but he could be nearing his return if he doesn't face a setback when he returns to game action. The former fourth-round selection in 2018 out of Ohio State made six starts for the Rockies before his injury, posting a 4.75 ERA (4.34 FIP) and 1.48 WHIP with 25 strikeouts and 12 walks in 30 1/3 innings pitched. When he's back in the big leagues, fantasy managers in mixed leagues can continue to ignore Feltner. In his five MLB seasons, he carries a 5.19 ERA and 1.43 WHIP with a below-average 19.5% strikeout rate.

Rockies Place Ryan Feltner On 15-Day Injured List With Back Spasms

The Colorado Rockies announced on Friday that they placed right-hander Ryan Feltner (back) on the 15-day injured list (retroactive to April 29) with back spasms and recalled right-handed pitching prospect Bradley Blalock from Triple-A Albuquerque in a corresponding move. Feltner will now miss the next two weeks after having his last start pushed back from Sunday to Monday. The 28-year-old wasn't sharp in the loss to the Atlanta Braves, allowing five runs on a season-high 10 hits allowed while walking one and striking out four in 4 2/3 innings. It remains to be seen if he'll be able to return from the IL when he's eligible on May 14. Fantasy managers in deeper leagues shouldn't view Feltner as a must-stash arm while he's out. He's gone 0-2 on the year with a 4.75 ERA and 1.48 WHIP with 25 strikeouts and 12 walks in his six starts covering 30 1/3 frames.

Ryan Feltner Records Quality Start Despite Pitching Through The Flu

Colorado Rockies manager Bud Black told reporters that right-hander Ryan Feltner (illness) pitched through the flu in the team's 7-2 win over the Milwaukee Brewers on Thursday at Coors Field. It makes Feltner's outing even more impressive, as he held a Brewers offense that put up 17 runs the night before to just one earned run in six innings to pick up a quality start. The 28-year-old didn't earn a win, but he allowed only three hits while walking two and striking out seven while being under the weather. We'd venture to guess that Feltner will be feeling better in time for his next outing, which is scheduled to come next Tuesday against the Los Angeles Dodgers. Despite Feltner's gutsy performance on Thursday, we'd recommend avoiding him next time out against L.A. He's pitched well through three starts, though, posting a 2.81 ERA with 16 K's and four walks in 16 innings pitched.

Ryan Feltner Set To Start On Sunday

Colorado Rockies starting pitcher Ryan Feltner (arm) is set to start in the final game of the regular season on Sunday afternoon against the Los Angeles Dodgers. Feltner left his previous start early due to cramping but that injury does not seem serious as he will get the nod in the season finale. The Ohio State product has held a 4.66 ERA, 1.36 WHIP, with a 50:135 BB:K ratio across 156 1/3 innings of work. The right-hander has held a slightly higher 5.53 ERA and 1.49 WHIP at home, where he will pitch this afternoon against a high-powered Dodger offense. DFS players should look to avoid Feltner in this start as he will have a tall task ahead of him.

Ryan Feltner Dealing With Arm Cramps

Colorado Rockies manager Bud Black said that right-hander Ryan Feltner (arm) was dealing with some cramping in his right arm during his outing on Tuesday at Coors Field against the visiting St. Louis Cardinals. Black decided he didn't want Feltner to continue to pitch through the cramping after he made one pitch to start the seventh inning. The skipper said Feltner should be fine to make his final start of the year on Sunday in the season finale against the visiting Los Angeles Dodgers. Fantasy managers still playing for a championship will want to avoid Feltner in that matchup, especially coming off a minor injury. He managed a quality start on Tuesday despite his injury, tossing six innings of two-run ball while walking one and striking out six in a no-decision. Feltner has gone 3-10 this year with a 4.66 ERA, 1.36 WHIP and 135 strikeouts in 156 1/3 innings over his 29 starts.

Ryan Feltner Reinstated And Starting On Monday

The Colorado Rockies reinstated right-hander Ryan Feltner (shoulder) from the 15-day injured list on Monday and placed left-hander Lucas Gilbreath (shoulder) on the 15-day IL in a corresponding move due to left-shoulder inflammation. The team also recalled right-hander Jake Bird from Triple-A Albuquerque and optioned right-hander Peter Lambert to Albuquerque in a corresponding move. Feltner will make the start on Monday at Coors Field against the Miami Marlins. He threw 2 2/3 innings for Albuquerque on Aug. 21 in a minor-league rehab start and gave up five runs (three earned) on four hits with two walks and three strikeouts. Manager Bud Black had been hoping Feltner would have gone three or four innings, so expect him to be on a pitch count in his first start back on Monday. It's a great matchup for the 27-year-old, but we still wouldn't recommend him as a streamer, especially at Coors.

Rockies Place Ryan Feltner On 15-Day Injured List

The Colorado Rockies placed right-hander Ryan Feltner (shoulder) on the 15-day injured list on Thursday with a right-shoulder strain and recalled right-hander Riley Pint from Triple-A Albuquerque in a corresponding move. Feltner was headed for the IL after leaving his start on Wednesday versus the visiting New York Mets after just one inning of work due to a lat/shoulder injury. It remains to be seen if the 27-year-old will be ready to return from the IL when he's eligible on Aug. 27. Feltner hasn't really been a fantasy asset in standard-sized mixed leagues, as he's gone just 1-10 on the year with a 5.00 ERA (4.30 FIP) and 1.41 WHIP with a career-high 107 strikeouts and 39 walks in 122 1/3 innings over his 23 starts for the Rockies. However, he hadn't allowed more than three earned runs in any of his last eight starts, dating back to June 26.
