Rockies Place Kyle Karros on Concussion Injured List

The Colorado Rockies announced on Wednesday that they placed third baseman Kyle Karros (concussion) on the seven-day concussion injured list and recalled infielder Adael Amador from Triple-A Albuquerque in a corresponding move. Karros was forced from Tuesday's game early against the division-rival Arizona Diamondbacks after colliding with teammate Ezequiel Tovar while both players were going after a ground ball. It came the inning after the 24-year-old hit a two-run home run in the top of the sixth inning. At the very least, Karros will be out of action for the Rockies for the next week. In his absence, veteran utility man Willi Castro is expected to see most of the playing time at the hot corner in Denver. In 112 games and 396 plate appearances in 2026 in his first full year in the big leagues, Karros is slashing .265/.361/.424 with a .785 OPS, 10 home runs, 44 RBI, 58 runs scored, and five steals. It's bad timing for the young right-handed slugger, as he has hit a cool .298 (14-for-47) with a homer, two doubles, nine RBI, nine runs scored, and two steals in 14 games since July 24.

Kyle Karros' Balanced Production Gives Him Waiver-Wire Appeal

Across 396 plate appearances this season, Colorado Rockies third baseman Kyle Karros is hitting .265/.361/.424 with 10 home runs, 44 RBI, 58 runs scored, and five stolen bases. The 24-year-old struggled to a .585 OPS across 156 plate appearances after making his MLB debut in 2025, but he's emerged as Colorado's everyday third baseman with a stellar second season in 2026. Karros' power profiles as roughly average, as he's logged an 8.0% barrel rate and a 41.6% hard-hit rate. However, his excellent 11.9% walk rate provides him with a stable production floor, and playing his home games at Coors Field should continue to prop up his batting average. With his well-rounded profile at the plate, Karros profiles as a useful piece to target on the waiver wire across most league formats.

Kyle Karros Gaining Waiver-Wire Steam After Hot July

Colorado Rockies third baseman Kyle Karros recently missed some time due to a biceps injury, but he returned for the first two games of the series over the weekend against the Kansas City Royals. The 24-year-old right-handed hitter should be drawing more attention as a corner-infield option off the waiver wire in deeper fantasy baseball leagues after he hit .293 (22-for-75) with a .918 OPS, four home runs, three doubles, a triple, 12 RBI, 14 runs scored, and a stolen base in 22 games and 88 plate appearances in July. The son of former big-leaguer Eric Karros is now batting .268/.365/.431 with a .797 OPS, nine home runs, 39 RBI, 54 runs scored, and three stolen bases across 313 at-bats in 2026 in his first full season in the major leagues. Although Karros has only one of his nine homers against lefties, he has hit .295 (33-for-112) against them this year. The former fifth-rounder in 2023 from UCLA is hitting just .256 (43-for-168) away from hitter-friendly Coors Field, but five of his nine long balls have come on the road. It has been very encouraging this year to see his strikeout rate drop from 26.3% as a rookie to 21.2% this year, and he's also walking at an increased rate of 12.4%.

Kyle Karros Emerging as a Quality Deep-League Waiver-Wire Target

Across 356 plate appearances in 2026, Colorado Rockies third baseman Kyle Karros is hitting .262/.362/.426 with nine home runs, 37 RBI, 51 runs scored, and three stolen bases. After struggling to a .585 OPS across 156 plate appearances after making his MLB debut in 2025, the 24-year-old appears to be emerging as a quality big leaguer in his second season. Karros' underlying contact metrics are solid but unspectacular, as he's logged an 8.2% barrel rate and a 42.5% hard-hit rate. However, Karros owns an impressive approach at the plate, as he's walked in 12.6% of his plate appearances while posting just a 20.6% strikeout rate. He's also posted plus defensive metrics at third base and has the advantage of playing his home games in the hitter-friendly environment of Coors Field, both of which should help him stay in the lineup every day and maximize his skill set. Particularly in deeper leagues, Karros profiles as a quality corner infield option to target on the waiver wire.

Kyle Karros Breaking Out, Emerging as Waiver Wire Target

Colorado Rockies third baseman Kyle Karros has impressed in his first full MLB season, slashing .259/.353/.430 with a .783 OPS across 95 games. His 48 runs scored rank second on the Rockies, highlighting his ability to provide value throughout the lineup. The 23-year-old has taken a major step forward thanks to improved contact quality, with a 43.7 Hard-Hit% that ranks above league average. He has also shown advanced plate discipline with a 12.2 BB%, giving him a strong foundation for continued success. With consistent playing time available, Karros has become an intriguing waiver wire option for fantasy managers looking for an emerging contributor.

Kyle Karros Performing Well for Rockies, Worth a Waiver-Wire Add?

Colorado Rockies third baseman Kyle Karros has been hitting well of late, slashing .308/.419/.692 with two home runs, six runs scored, five RBI, and three stolen bases over his last seven days, and has raised his average up to .260 on the season with eight home runs, 31 RBI, 46 runs scored, three stolen bases, and a .795 OPS. The 23-year-old infielder was a former fifth-round pick, and after 156 plate appearances in 2025, he is getting a chance at a full starter workload in 2026 with 310 plate appearances on the season. The underlying data supports his solid campaign, with a .256 xBA, .341 xwOBA, and .408 xSLG. He also demonstrates solid plate discipline, with his 12.9 percent walk rate (88th percentile), 21.3 percent strikeout rate (52nd percentile), and 24.5 percent chase rate (81st percentile). With the current state of the third base position, with Jose Ramirez (hand), Matt Chapman (abdominal), and players like Austin Riley significantly underperforming, Karros should be someone fantasy managers should take a look at on the waiver wire. He plays half his games at Coors Field, is hitting near the top of the Rockies lineup, and is not highly rostered in most formats.

Kyle Karros Enjoying Productive Stretch in Colorado

Colorado Rockies third base prospect Kyle Karros has enjoyed a productive stretch of offensive production in the batter's box. Over his last 14 games in Colorado, Karros has posted a strong .279/.367/.372 line with a .739 OPS. While he has only hit one home run over this stretch, Karros has racked up 10 runs and added two RBI. Through his first 18 total games in the big leagues, the former fifth-round pick has held a .276 AVG with a .743 OPS. Throughout his first stint in the majors, Karros has seen all his starts at the hot corner. Earlier this season, Karros spent time at both Double-A and Triple-A and carried an overall .301/.398/.476 line with an .874 OPS. Given his solid start to his MLB career, Karros is worth a look in deeper formats if you need a boost in runs and batting average.

Kyle Karros Back in the Lineup on Friday

Colorado Rockies rookie infielder Kyle Karros (back) is starting at third base and will hit fifth in Friday's series opener in Pittsburgh against the Pirates and right-hander Braxton Ashcraft. Karros is returning to the starting nine after missing the last two games with back tightness. The 23-year-old son of former big-leaguer Eric Karros will be playing in only his 13th major-league game after recently being called up from the minors leagues. He has handled himself well in the early going and has a nice right-handed power stroke that will receive regular playing time down the stretch as the Rockies play out the string. So far in his first 44 MLB plate appearances, Karros has hit .270 with a home run, three doubles, five RBI, 10 runs scored and a 10:7 K:BB. Fantasy managers in NL-only leagues should be looking to get him back into their starting lineups.

Kyle Karros Sitting Out With Back Injury

Colorado Rockies rookie infielder Kyle Karros (back) is out of the starting lineup for Thursday's series finale against the division-rival Los Angeles Dodgers at Coors Field. Orlando Arcia is starting at the hot corner and will bat eighth against Dodgers left-hander Clayton Kershaw. Back tightness will keep Karros out of action for the second straight day, but hopefully the 23-year-old will be able to return for Friday's series opener in Pittsburgh against the Pirates. The son of former Dodgers first baseman Eric Karros has held his own in his first 37 big-league at-bats for the last-place Rockies, recording 10 hits, a homer, five RBI and 10 runs scored. With the Rockies yet again playing out the string in the second half, Karros should continue to see regular playing time if he can get over his back injury. Arcia is a light-hitting infielder who has gone 2-for-10 in his career against Kershaw.

Kyle Karros Continues to Impress in Colorado

Colorado Rockies third base prospect Kyle Karros has looked quite strong since joining the MLB roster earlier in August. Through his first six games in the major leagues, Karros has posted a .333/.417/.476 slash line with three doubles and a 4:3 K:BB. On Wednesday, Karros scored an impressive three runs and posted his second multi-hit game of his MLB career. Before earning the call earlier in August, Karros was considered the No. 8-ranked prospect in the system on MLB.com. He spent the first half of the season split between Double-A and Triple-A. With Double-A, he held a .294/.399/.462 line. Through a short 16-game stint with Triple-A, Karros continued to hit, posting a .206/.368/.500 slash line. Given his steady production, he is worth a look in all 12-team leagues as he seems to have earned a starting job in the Colorado lineup.
