Colorado Rockies outfielder Hunter Goodman is in the starting lineup and will hit eighth while manning right field against the San Diego Padres and right-hander Randy Vasquez. The 24-year-old was called up from Triple-A Albuquerque on Wednesday and went 0-for-2 with a strikeout in a pair of pinch-hitting plate appearances but will get his first start in the big leagues this season on Thursday. Goodman debuted with the Rockies last season but struggled to a .200 average with just one homer and one stolen base across 77 plate appearances. However, he has demolished Triple-A pitching to the tune of a .298 average with seven homers, 22 RBI, and a 1.042 OPS across 20 games so far this season. He is worth a deep-league add given the light-tower power he has displayed throughout his minor-league tenure.
Rockies Recall Hunter Goodman, Option Michael Toglia
The Colorado Rockies announced on Wednesday that they recalled utility man Hunter Goodman from Triple-A Albuquerque and optioned infielder/outfielder Michael Toglia to Albuquerque in a corresponding move. Goodman, the club's No. 12 prospect per MLB Pipeline, gets called up to the majors after hitting .298 with seven home runs and 10 doubles in the first 20 games at Triple-A this year. The 24-year-old former fourth-round pick in 2021 out of Memphis made his big-league debut in 2023 and went 14-for-70 (.200) with a homer, 17 RBI, five walks and 24 strikeouts in his first 23 games played in the Show. For now, he's merely a waiver-wire option for fantasy managers in deep leagues for his power upside at Coors Field. He figures to see some playing time in right field and first base, but he's not start in Wednesday against the visiting San Diego Padres.

In 2023, he played first base, right field, and DH during his 23-game audition with the big league club, so it remains to be seen where he'll fit in on the diamond. The catcher hit .259 with 34 homers and 111 RBI in 410 at-bats between Double-A and Triple-A in 2023, which earned him a late-season promotion to the big-league squad. Upon his promotion, the 24-year-old struggled with 1 homer and 17 RBI over 70 at-bats. Formerly a catcher, the Rockies have tried to transition Goodman to both corner infield positions and the outfield. Goodman will begin the year in the Triple-A Albuquerque, but he should get a second in the big leagues at some point this year with the Rockies in a clear rebuild and needing to see which young talent will be with the club in the long term. For now, Goodman can safely remain on the waiver wire.

Colorado Rockies first baseman/outfielder prospect Hunter Goodman continued to hit in Monday's 5-4 loss to the Cubs. The 23-year-old pinch-hit in the seventh inning, going 1-for-1 with an RBI double. Goodman has looked very impressive offensively in his first 47 big-league plate appearances, slashing .302/.340/.535 with no home runs, 13 RBI, and a stolen base. It remains to be seen exactly what his role will be for the rest of the season, but he could be an intriguing name to watch for next season and could potentially be helpful for the rest of this season in deep leagues.
Colorado Rockies power-hitting prospect Hunter Goodman, the team's No. 13 prospect per MLB Pipeline, was promoted to Triple-A Albuquerque on Tuesday. The 23-year-old fourth-rounder hit 25 home runs and 24 doubles at Double-A Hartford to earn the promotion, and he celebrated his promotion with a grand slam in his Triple-A debut. He played first base on Tuesday but has mostly served as a catcher while occasionally playing the corner-outfield spots. Power reliever Victor Vodnik, the team's No. 22 prospect, also got a promotion to Albuquerque after coming over in a trade from the Braves at the deadline. Vodnik had 56 K's in 40 2/3 innings at Double-A Mississippi and is a candidate for a big-league promotion before season's end. Hunter Goodman Has Shown Plenty Of Power On The Farm
Colorado Rockies catcher prospect Hunter Goodman has been a big source of power down on the farm for the organization this season. The 22-year-old catcher spent most of his season between Single-A Fresno and High-A Spokane, but recently was promoted to Double-A Hartford to close out his season. Regardless of the uniform, Goodman has shown impressive power with 36 homers to go along with a .294 batting average and 106 RBI. The 36 homers are second behind Cardinals outfield prospect, Moises Gomez for the most in the minor leagues this season. Goodman can clearly hit for power early in his professional career, but he does have a tendency to swing-and-miss and that's something that he will need to improve on upon his ascension through the Rockies system. The Rockies also have catcher Drew Romo rising through the ranks and he is one of the organizations top prospects at the moment, which could mean a position change for Goodman in the future. Regardless, Goodman is a few years away from a potential big-league debut and remains a name for dynasty managers to file away.
