Zac Veen Offers Power/Speed Upside on the Waiver Wire

Colorado Rockies outfielder Zac Veen struggled after making his MLB debut in 2025, hitting .118 with a 37.8% strikeout rate across a small sample size of 37 plate appearances. However, Veen had a monster year after returning to Triple-A this season, hitting .327/.402/.635 with 24 home runs, 87 RBI, 82 runs scored, and 18 stolen bases across 445 plate appearances. The 24-year-old's minor league production led to a big-league promotion on August 12, and he's gotten off to a hot start with two home runs in his first 15 trips to the plate. The lefty-swinging Veen has been deployed in a big-side platoon role with Colorado so far, which limits his playing time and fantasy upside. Veen has also struggled with swing-and-miss at different points throughout his pro career, so he may log an elevated strikeout rate. Still, Veen offers an intriguing blend of power and speed for fantasy managers on the waiver wire, and his hitter-friendly home park at Coors Field should help cover some of his weaknesses at the plate.

Rockies Outfield Prospect Zac Veen Returning to the Majors

The Colorado Rockies are recalling outfield prospect Zac Veen from Triple-A Albuquerque on Tuesday and have designated infielder Edouard Julien for assignment in a corresponding move, according to Kyle Newman of The Denver Post. It will be Veen's first action in the big leagues since he struggled in 2025 in his MLB debut in 12 games played, when he went 4-for-34 (.118) with a homer, two RBI, two walks, and 14 strikeouts. The team's No. 7 prospect, per MLB Pipeline, has earned a promotion back to the majors in 2026 by hitting .327/.402/.635 with a 1.037 OPS, 24 home runs, 87 RBI, 18 stolen bases, and 82 runs scored across 100 games and 445 plate appearances with the Isotopes. The 6-foot-3, 243-pounder bulked up in the offseason and cleaned up his act from a maturity standpoint, so he appears much better positioned to have sustained success for the Rockies to close out the season. Veen went 5-for-5 with three home runs, a double, and a triple over the weekend against Triple-A Sugar Land, and fantasy managers who need power and speed should be looking to add him off the waiver wire, even in mixed leagues.

Zac Veen Cruising at Triple-A, Remains a High-End Stash

Colorado Rockies outfield prospect Zac Veen is one of the hottest hitters in the minors right now, and he may force his way to Colorado in the not-too-distant future. The Rockies' seventh-ranked prospect has hit safely in 11 of his last 12 games, going 24-for-52 (.462) with six doubles, two triples, and eight home runs during that time, which includes a three-homer game. For the season, the former ninth-overall draft pick is hitting .327 with the highest SLG (.635) and OPS (1.037) at Triple-A among qualified hitters. The 6-foot-3 slugger already made a brief debut in 2025, but could be back with the Rockies soon. There isn't a current path to playing time, but being on the 40-man roster and his robust productivity should give him the edge over other options available for a call-up (i.e., Charlie Condon). As hot as he is and with enough contact, power, and speed that would make him fantasy relevant, the 24-year-old is one of the better higher-end stashes for the fantasy stretch run.

Zac Veen Knocking on MLB Door Following Three-Home Run Effort

Colorado Rockies outfield prospect Zac Veen is coming off one of the most productive games of the minor-league season at Triple-A Albuquerque on Saturday with three homers and seven RBI in a five-hit effort. The 24-year-old outfielder is hitting .325 at Albuquerque this year with 24 homers and 87 RBI to go with 80 runs scored and 18 stolen bases. The 2020 first-round pick is producing on all levels this season and is looking like a future five-category fantasy contributor. The left-handed hitter is the No. 7 prospect in the Rockies' system and is looking like a must-add as a stash candidate for the rest of this season. He has a 55-grade run tool with a 50-grade hit tool. He could be called up at any time and is ready to reward fantasy managers who take a shot on him the rest of the way.

Zac Veen a Worthy Stash Consideration Amid Power Surge

Colorado Rockies outfield prospect Zac Veen has been red-hot again at Triple-A Albuquerque, going 15-for-38 (.395) over his last eight games, with 11 of those 15 hits going for extra bases (five doubles, one triple, five home runs). The Rockies' top prospect, who also authored a 25-game hit streak earlier this year, is now slashing .315/.389/.603 with 21 home runs and 16 stolen bases in 96 games for the Isotopes. Unfortunately for Veen, Colorado seemingly has a glut of outfield depth at the moment, with a productive big league unit that includes recently-graduated prospect Cole Carrigg, along with fellow prospect Charlie Condon also waiting in the wings for a call-up. Still, Veen may have the edge over Condon the next time the team needs to fill a void in the outfield, as the left-handed hitter has already made his major league debut and is already on the 40-man roster. With the potential to contribute across multiple categories, the former ninth-overall draft pick is a worthy stash consideration who could be in position to help managers in the run-up to and in the fantasy playoffs in deeper 12+ team leagues if he were to get the call.

Zac Veen's Speed Makes him a Promising Pickup

Colorado Rockies outfield prospect Zac Veen is coming off a game in which he homered and added three hits to raise his batting average for the season with Triple-A Albuquerque to .317 and his homer total to 20. Altogether, he has 77 RBI, 73 runs scored, and 16 stolen bases this season at Albuquerque in 369 at-bats. Veen has demonstrated his five-category ability in the Pacific Coast League this year, making him an intriguing prospect for a shot with the big-league club. He's the No. 7 overall prospect in the Rockies' system and is a former first-round pick in 2020. The 24-year-old looks like a likely big-league call-up candidate and is therefore worth stashing in pretty much all fantasy leagues. His 55-grade speed makes him a five-tool-candidate worth taking a chance on now. When called up, he will reward the chance taken on him.

Zac Veen's Four-Hit Night Keeps Him High on Stash Radar

Colorado Rockies outfielder Zac Veen continues to showcase high-end five-category upside at the Triple-A level and remains on the verge of returning to the major leagues. Veen is coming off another productive outing at Albuquerque, where he went 4-for-5 with a triple and a home run. This long ball snapped a relatively lengthy 12-game home run drought for the young outfielder. On the season, Veen has posted a .313/.389/.580 slash line with 27 doubles, 17 home runs, 15 stolen bases and a sharp .969 OPS. Veen received a brief taste of the majors back in 2025 but did not find much success, posting a low .118/.189/.235 line with one home run and a stolen base. However, many of the team's top outfielders, such as Mickey Moniak and Jake McCarthy, are on the trade block, so Veen may face minimal competition to earn second-half at-bats in the big leagues.

Zac Veen has Appeal as a Potential Five-Category Contributor

Colorado Rockies outfield prospect Zac Veen has had quite the consistent 2026 season at Triple-A Albuquerque, and that could result in some time up with Colorado in the second half of the season. In 333 at-bats at Albuquerque, Veen is hitting .312 with 16 homers and 63 RBI to go with 62 runs scored and 15 stolen bases. The No. 7 overall prospect for the Rockies, Veen is producing in his age-24 season, and it might be the perfect time for a call-up to the big leagues. The left-handed hitting outfielder has a 50-grade hit tool with 45-grade power and a 55-grade run tool. So Veen does not have the tools of a prolific big league home run hitter, but his speed should make him a five-tool prospect. A call-up to Colorado and the chance to play his home games at Coors Field would make Veen immediately attractive for fantasy purposes. Now might be the time to add Veen to fantasy rosters in anticipation of potential time in Colorado this season.

Zac Veen is a Promising Pickup For Later This Season

Colorado Rockies prospect Zac Veen has shown a steady hand at Triple-A Albuquerque this season, producing solid stats and making a case for a second-half call up. Veen has racked up 16 homers and 61 RBI while scoring 60 runs and stealing 15 bases all while hitting .314. It's very solid all-around production from the talented left-handed hitter and could result in a big league shot in Colorado. Veen is the No. 13 overall prospect in the Rockies' system but his overall stats paint a much brighter picture. The 24-year-old is a five-tool prospect who could contribute to fantasy rosters as early as this season. Position prospects in Colorado always make for good fantasy pickups because of the hitting environment at Coors Field and Veen should be no exception. His rock solid profile makes him an excellent stash candidate in the second half for mid-to-deeper leagues.

Zac Veen Not Slowing Down in Minor Leagues as MLB Promotion is in Reach

Colorado Rockies outfield prospect Zac Veen has continued to showcase high-end production at the Triple-A club and is making a strong case to earn his second stint in the major leagues. Through his last 40 contests at the Triple-A club in the Colorado system, the former ninth overall pick from the 2020 MLB Draft has carried an elite .355/.375/.734 line with a 1.109 OPS. During this noted surge, Veen has gone deep 12 times, tacked on 20 doubles, swiped four bags, and even hit four triples. On the season, Veen has done more than prove he's ready for the majors, posting a .967 OPS with 16 home runs and 16 stolen bases. With the Rockies likely to move many key bats at the deadline, including outfielder Mickey Moniak, Veen should face minimal competition for second-half at-bats.
