Zac Veen Extends Hit Streak to 19 Games at Triple-A, Promotion on the Way?

Colorado Rockies outfield prospect Zac Veen is sizzling at Triple-A Albuquerque, riding a 19-game hit streak, during which time he has gone 34-for-79 (.430) with 11 doubles, two triples, six home runs, and a pair of stolen bases. Including walks, the last time he did not get on base was back on May 17, a stretch of 23 games. The Rockies' 13th-ranked prospect earned a debut in the majors back in April of last year, but went just 4-for-34 (.118) with a 37.8 percent strikeout rate during his brief time there. However, after a solid season in Albuquerque in 2025 and with the heater he is on now in 2026, the former ninth-overall draft pick looks ready for another shot, currently the author of a .323/.415/.556 slash line with 10 home runs, 13 steals, a 13.6 percent walk rate, and an improved 19.9 percent strikeout rate through 62 games for the Isotopes. The 6-foot-3 slugger could get another shot in the majors by the All-Star break, and this time around, he may have more success given how well he is hitting. With the potential to be a multi-category contributor playing half his games at Coors Field, the 24-year-old is a worthy stash in deeper leagues.

Zac Veen Emerging as Top Prospect to Stash?

Colorado Rockies outfield prospect Zac Veen has spent the entire 2026 campaign with the top club in the minor leagues, but has looked rather impressive and is making a strong case to rejoin the MLB roster. During the 2025 season, Veen made his MLB debut and posted a low .118/.189/.235 slash line with one home run and one stolen base over a short 12-game stint. Most of his campaign was spent at Triple-A. This season, Veen has performed at a high level at Albuquerque and is making a strong case to join a Colorado outfield that has been decimated by injuries. So far, Veen has launched 10 home runs and swiped 13 bags while carrying an elite .322/.414/.559 line. Even though the Rockies turned to fellow outfield prospect Cole Carrigg last week, Veen still has a clear path to join the majors with Mickey Moniak, Jordan Beck, and Brenton Doyle all on the shelf. Given his five-category potential, Veen is emerging as a top outfield prospect to stash in standard leagues.

Zac Veen a Priority Power Bat to Target in Fantasy Baseball?

Colorado Rockies outfielder Zac Veen continues to have a productive season at the plate, and he has emerged as an intriguing prospect to stash in fantasy baseball leagues. Through 54 Triple-A games this year, Veen is slashing .317/.417/.525 with eight homers, 35 RBI, 13 steals, a 14.6% walk rate, and a 21.3% strikeout rate. He might be striking out a little more than we'd like to see from a player in Triple-A, but he makes up for it with the power, speed, and walks. The advanced metrics are also quite impressive, as he owns a 105.3 mph EV90 (78th percentile), a 47.9% hard-hit rate (85th percentile), and a 73.59% zone swing rate (83rd percentile). He has also played in 165 Triple-A games over three years, which means that he has certainly served his time and proven himself capable of playing at the next level. A promotion to the majors seems inevitable within the next month or two, and fantasy managers should get ahead of the surge by stashing Veen now.

Zac Veen Day-to-Day With Knee Injury

MLB.com reports that Colorado Rockies outfield prospect Zac Veen (knee) is day-to-day with a right-knee contusion that he injured while sliding to make a catch in the outfield during a spring training game on March 9. Veen hasn't played since, putting his status in question for Opening Day on Thursday. Before his injury, the 24-year-old former ninth overall pick in 2020 was hitting .250 (5-for-20) with two home runs, four RBI, and two runs scored in 11 Cactus League games this spring. He looked overmatched in his first taste of the big leagues in 2025, going 4-for-34 (.118) at the plate with a homer, two RBI, one steal, two walks, and 14 strikeouts in just 12 games played. Veen hasn't lived up to expectations in the minors the last two years, either, although he transformed his body in the offseason and is jacked. It remains to be seen if it will solve his strikeout issues. We'd expect Veen to start the year either on the injured list or at Triple-A Albuquerque. For now, he's a stash in dynasty/keeper formats, but we should see him back in Denver sooner than later in 2026.

Zac Veen Overcomes Substance Abuse, Adds Muscle

Colorado Rockies outfield prospect Zac Veen finished his first MLB season at an unhealthy 202 pounds, but he's now at 245 pounds after adding muscle in the offseason, according to MLB.com's Thomas Harding. "Definitely one of the bigger, main things was sobering up," said Veen, 24. "I had a pretty big substance abuse problem for a few years. But I'm completely clean and sober." The former ninth overall pick in 2020 went 4-for-34 (.118) with 14 strikeouts in 37 plate appearances in his first 12 big-league games with the Rockies last year before being sent back to Triple-A Albuquerque. Johnny Goodrich, Veen's high-school coach, said his speed, leaping ability, and hitting exit velocities have improved with the added muscle. Veen is currently in an uphill battle to win an Opening Day roster spot, especially with the offseason addition of Jake McCarthy. He can be ignored in redraft leagues to start the year, but fantasy managers in dynasty/keeper leagues shouldn't give up on him just yet.

Zac Veen Unlikely to Break Camp With MLB Team

The Denver Post's Kyle Newman writes that someone would probably have to get injured for Colorado Rockies outfield prospect Zac Veen to break camp with the major-league team. The Rockies are pretty set in the outfield right now with Brenton Doyle, Mickey Moniak, Jordan Beck, and Jack McCarthy, which leaves Veen on the outside looking in as things currently stand. In a 12-game cup of coffee for his major-league debut last year, the 24-year-old former ninth overall pick struck out 37.8% of the time over just 37 plate appearances before being sent back to Triple-A Albuquerque. Veen also hasn't exactly stood out in the upper levels of the minor leagues with a 94 wRC+ last year and discouraging batted-ball metrics. Speed is probably his biggest asset right now, with the potential to steal 20-plus bags at the next level if he has a full-time role. If he's back in the big leagues at some point in 2026, it will likely be in a part-time role, and he probably won't be an impact bat in mixed fantasy leagues.

Zac Veen Goes Deep on Tuesday

Colorado Rockies outfield prospect Zac Veen went 1-for-4 with a home run, two RBI, and an additional run scored in a 12-2 win over Triple-A Sacramento. Veen has been productive all season a Triple-A, slashing .309/.377/.491 with six homers and 10 stolen bases in 259 plate appearances. He made his MLB debut in early April, but was unable to stick with the big league club as he was just 4-for-34 with 14 strikeouts during his brief stint. He has an interesting power and speed skillset, although the power is still a question, as his 109.2 MPH MaxEV doesn't signal a big ceiling in that department. But he has hit the ball consistently hard at Triple-A this season with a 49.4 percent hard-hit rate, and would have some appeal in deep and NL-only leagues if he were to return to the majors at some point.

Zac Veen Optioned to Triple-A

The Colorado Rockies have optioned outfield prospect Zac Veen to Triple-A Albuquerque. In a corresponding move, the team activated outfielder Brenton Doyle from the bereavement list. Veen has held a modest .118/.189/.235 slash line with one double and one home run across his first 12 games at the MLB level. Veen will look to find his footing at the top level of the minor leagues. During this brief taste of the majors, Veen generated an underwhelming .203 xwOBA with a .130 xBA. However, he did flash speed upside as he placed in the 81st percentile in sprint speed. Through 29 career games at Triple-A, the former ninth overall pick has held a .265/.336/.531 slash line with seven doubles, seven home runs, and seven stolen bases. He is worth monitoring in deeper formats, as he should be in the mix to return to Colorado later this season.

Zac Veen Getting The Day Off With Lefty On The Mound

Colorado Rockies rookie outfielder Zac Veen is taking a seat on Tuesday against the Kansas City Royals at Kauffman Stadium with a left-hander on the mound. Jordan Beck will make the start in left field for the Rockies and will bat eighth against Royals southpaw Kris Bubic. Veen has struggled to make an impact for Colorado in his first 11 major-league games since being called up the Show for the first time, going 4-for-34 (.118) with a homer, double, two RBI, a stolen base, two walks and 14 strikeouts in 37 plate appearances. If he doesn't start to pick things up at the plate soon, it's possible the Rockies will send him back to the farm for more seasoning. Beck has been just as bad early on in 2025, going 5-for-28 with no homers, four RBI, three stolen bases and 13 strikeouts in 11 games in his second MLB campaign.

Zac Veen Hits First MLB Long Ball

Colorado Rockies outfield prospect Zac Veen went 1-for-2 with a home run during Game 1 of the doubleheader against the Washington Nationals on Sunday afternoon. Veen would hit his first MLB long ball in the third inning off Washington starting pitcher Jake Irvin. Veen was in contention to make the MLB roster out of camp but fell short in the running. However, he was rewarded with an early promotion and made his MLB debut on April 8. However, the former ninth overall pick has been going through some growing pains in the big leagues as he has posted a modest .118/.189/.235 slash line with just two extra-base hits across his first 11 MLB contests. Last season in the minor leagues, he held an overall .258/.346/.459 line. Fantasy managers should expect the Spruce Creek HS product to continue to see playing time in center and left field.
