Los Angeles Angels relief pitcher Jimmy Herget has been recalled from Triple-A Salt Lake. The 29-year-old right-hander was optioned to the minors in late May but has done well enough in Triple-A for the Angels to bring him back. He owns a rough 4.38 ERA, 1.46 WHIP, and 9:4 K/BB ratio over 12 1/3 innings (12 appearances) at the major league level this season. There's no fantasy appeal here.
Los Angeles Angels reliever Jimmy Herget has been optioned to Triple-A Salt Lake City. The Angels made a flurry of roster moves that affect their bullpen on Sunday. Along with Herget, Zack Weiss, and Andrew Wantz were also optioned to the minors. In a pair of corresponding moves, the team selected the contracts of Reyes Moronta and Jacob Webb. None of these moves really have a fantasy impact as Carlos Estevez, who has looked good thus far, is locked in as the team's closer.

With offseason acquisition Carlos Estevez struggling in spring training with a 15.43 ERA through six appearances, Herget is being strongly considered to start off the season as the closer. After the Halos dealt star closer Raisel Iglesias during last years trade deadline, they turned to their closing committee for the second half. 29-year-old Herget led the committee with nine saves, and the Angels were impressed by his performance in high-leverage situations. In high-pressure situations, he posted a 3.51 FIP with 10 strikeouts across 12 2/3 innings. While Herget is a strong candidate to be the teams closer, other names like Aaron Loup and Jose Quijada are in the mix as well.
