The Colorado Rockies have claimed right-handed pitcher Jimmy Herget off waivers. Herget was placed on waivers earlier this offseason by the Chicago Cubs. During the 2022 and 2023 seasons, Herget pitched for the Los Angeles Angels. Despite his poor output this summer, he held a 2.81 xERA which suggests he could be due for some positive regression during the 2025 campaign. For now, fantasy managers should expect the 31-year-old to operate in the Colorado bullpen but could eventually mix in for save opportunities if he performs well.

The 29-year-old right-hander was optioned to the minors in late May but has done well enough in Triple-A for the Angels to bring him back. Los Angeles Angels reliever Jimmy Herget has been optioned to Triple-A Salt Lake City. The Angels made a flurry of roster moves that affect their bullpen on Sunday. After the Halos dealt star closer Raisel Iglesias during last years trade deadline, they turned to their closing committee for the second half. 29-year-old Herget led the committee with nine saves, and the Angels were impressed by his performance in high-leverage situations. In high-pressure situations, he posted a 3.51 FIP with 10 strikeouts across 12 2/3 innings. While Herget is a strong candidate to be the teams closer, other names like Aaron Loup and Jose Quijada are in the mix as well.
