Chase Dollander Gets A Win In His Debut

Colorado Rockies top pitching prospect Chase Dollander, ranked No. 24 in the top 100 MLB Pipeline, earned his first MLB win on Sunday against the Athletics. In five innings of work, he allowed four runs on seven hits and a walk while striking out six, which was enough to earn him the win as the Rockies won the game 12-5. The long ball hurt him, as he allowed a two-run home run to Tyler Soderstrom in the first and a solo shot from Lawrence Butler in the fifth. It was a good start for the young right-hander, as the six strikeouts showed a lot of swing and miss promise. Up next for Dollander is a challenging task on the road against the Padres, but fantasy managers might want to keep an eye on him or stash him on their bench in case he lives up to the hype in 2025.

Chase Dollander To Make MLB Debut On Sunday Against A's

Colorado Rockies right-handed pitching prospect Chase Dollander will be called up to make his major-league debut on Sunday against the Athletics, according to DNVR's Patrick Lyons. Dollander, the team's top prospect and No. 24 in all of baseball per MLB Pipeline, didn't have to wait long to get the call after narrowly missing out on an Opening Day rotation spot out of spring training. The 23-year-old not only has the skills to stick around all year and be successful, but he'll have a pristine first matchup in his debut against the A's. Dollander was the ninth overall pick in 2023 out of Tennessee and went 6-2 with a 2.59 ERA, 1.19 WHIP and 169:47 K:BB in his 23 starts in 2024 for High-A Spokane and Double-A Hartford. He could have four above-average pitches when all is said and done with his fastball, slider, curveball and changeup. Pitchers in Colorado are always a bit scary, but Dollander has the upside to be fantasy relevant in all formats.

Chase Dollander Strikes Out Five In Triple-A Debut

Colorado Rockies starting pitching prospect Chase Dollander tallied five strikeouts across four innings of work in his Triple-A debut. He allowed six hits, two walks, and one earned run. Dollander was competing for a spot in the starting rotation in Colorado but fell just short in the competition. However, the former ninth overall pick may not need much time in Triple-A if he continues to produce at this level. Last summer, Dollander made his professional debut and progressed quite quickly through the Colorado pipeline. He opened the season at High-A and logged 70 innings to the tune of a 2.83 ERA and a 1.26 WHIP. Then at Double-A, Dollander posted a 2.25 ERA with a 1.10 WHIP across 48 innings. He is worth stashing in all standard formats as he should push for an early MLB debut this season.

Chase Dollander Likely To Begin In Triple-A

Colorado Rockies pitching prospect Chase Dollander struck out seven in 3 2/3 scoreless innings in a 3-1 win over the division-rival San Francisco Giants in Cactus League action on Tuesday night, but the ninth overall pick out of Tennessee in 2023 hasn't gone without ups and downs in spring training. He allowed five runs and needed 50 pitches in 1 2/3 innings on March 8 against the Athletics. Colorado views the 23-year-old as a potential future ace, but The Denver Post's Patrick Saunders writes that he's likely to open the year at Triple-A Albuquerque. As it stands now, the Rockies are expected to open the year with a four-man rotation of Kyle Freeland, Ryan Feltner, German Marquez and Antonio Senzatela. Dollander, the team's top prospect per MLB Pipeline, will make his MLB debut in 2025, but it could depend on the health and performance of the veterans already in the rotation.

Chase Dollander Strikes Out Seven In Latest Cactus League Start

Colorado Rockies starting pitching prospect Chase Dollander threw 3 2/3 scoreless innings in Tuesday's 3-1 win over the Giants. The righty allowed two hits and two walks while striking out seven batters. It marks two consecutive outings without giving up a run for the Rockies' No. 1 prospect, although it hasn't all been pretty this spring. Overall, the former first-rounder has allowed nine earned runs on 11 hits and nine walks to go with 18 strikeouts in 14 1/3 innings. The 6-foot-2 hurler still has a chance to earn a rotation spot, but with no experience at Triple-A and some room left to improve, starting the season in Albuquerque may be the smarter long-term move for Colorado. Fantasy managers should monitor the situation, as Dollander could be a viable asset in deeper and NL-only leagues if he were to make the Opening Day roster.

Chase Dollander Tosses Four Shutout Frames On Thursday

Colorado Rockies starting pitching prospect Chase Dollander tossed four shutout frames during Thursday's spring training contest. He allowed just two hits, two walks, and struck out three batters. This is a much-needed bounce-back showing for Dollander as he allowed two hits and five earned runs across one 2/3 innings in his previous outing. The top prospect has a chance to make the Opening Day roster and Thursday's outing put him back in the running. Last summer, the Tennessee product made his professional debut and looked quite comfortable. He held a 2.83 ERA with a 1.26 WHIP across 70 innings at High-A. At Double-A, the former ninth-overall pick posted a 2.25 ERA with a 1.10 WHIP and 58 punchouts in 48 innings. If he does make the Opening Day roster, he is worth drafting in the final rounds of all drafts given his elite strikeouts upside he flashed in the minor leagues.

Chase Dollander Stumbles In Latest Outing

Colorado Rockies starting pitching prospect Chase Dollander allowed two hits and five earned runs across 1 2/3 innings in his latest spring start. He allowed four free passes and tallied just one punchout. Through 6 2/3 innings in spring training, the budding ace has held a 12.15 ERA with a 1.80 WHIP. He has served up five free passes with just eight punchouts. The Tennessee product is currently competing for a spot in the starting rotation, but given his struggles, the team may opt to slow his development. Last season, the 23-year-old made his professional debut. Through 70 innings at High-A, Dollander posted a 2.83 ERA with a 1.26 WHIP. Then at Double-A, the former ninth overall pick posted a strong 2.25 ERA with a 1.10 WHIP across 48 frames. If he were to open the season in the minor leagues, he will likely make his Triple-A debut and be a popular stash candidate in all standard formats.

Chase Dollander Could Make Opening Day Roster

Colorado Rockies pitching prospect Chase Dollander is a strong candidate to make the Opening Day roster. Patrick Saunders of The Denver Post expects the budding ace to earn a spot in the starting rotation out of camp. The former ninth selection in the 2023 MLB Draft was invited to spring training after enjoying a stellar professional debut in 2024. Last summer, the Tennessee product logged 118 innings with High and Double-A. At Double-A, the right-hander held a strong 2.25 ERA with a 1.10 WHIP across 48 innings of work. He tallied 58 punchouts and served up 19 free passes. Dollander has logged two innings during spring training and tallied three punchouts with just two hits and one run. Even though he has not pitched at the Triple-A level, he is drawing significant interest from the Rockies. If he continues this production in camp, he should have a good opportunity to break the Opening Day roster. If he does, this would likely shift Antonio Senzatela to a long relief role.

Chase Dollander Strikes Out Three In Spring Debut

Colorado Rockies starting pitcher prospect Chase Dollander made his spring debut on Monday, facing eight batters in a 2-2 tie with the Giants. The righty yielded one earned run on two hits and did not walk a batter while striking out three. Dollander is the Rockies' top prospect and is ranked No. 25 overall. After being selected ninth overall in the 2023 MLB Draft, the 6-foot-2 hurler is believed to have a shot at making the starting rotation with a strong spring, although he's yet to make even one start at Triple-A, so perhaps it is a long shot. Regardless, the Rockies believe he is their future ace, and so far he's shown the stuff to back it up. Over 118 innings last season between High-A and Double-A, the former first-rounder posted a 2.59 ERA, 1.19 WHIP, and a 24.4 percent K-BB%. The 23-year-old is not being drafted in most season-long fantasy leagues, but if it's looking like he could be up with the big-league club to begin the season or shortly thereafter, his 683 NFBC ADP will surely skyrocket.

Chase Dollander Could Skip Triple-A

According to Kyle Newman of The Denver Post, Colorado Rockies starting pitching prospect Chase Dollander could skip Triple-A if he impresses at spring training. The former ninth overall pick in the 2023 MLB Draft performed very well in his first professional season and could be nearing his MLB debut. Last summer, Dollander began the season at High-A, where he logged 70 innings with a 2.83 ERA and a 1.26 WHIP. He struck out 111 batters and served up 28 free passes. The Tennessee product was then moved up to Double-A, where he took another step forward with a 2.25 ERA and 1.10 WHIP. He struck out 58 batters in 48 innings and allowed 19 walks. MLB Pipeline ranks him as the second-best prospect in Colorado's system and the 58th overall in the sport. If he performs well at spring training, he could make the Opening Day rotation.
