Free-agent relief pitcher Evan Scribner signed a minor league deal with the Tampa Bay Rays, according to Jon Heyman of FanRag Sports. Scribner will make $800,000 this season and has an invitation to major league spring training. He allowed nine runs in 7 1/3 innings for the Mariners last season, striking out six without a walk. He battled a flexor bundle strain in his right elbow last season and logged just 11 1/3 innings between the minors and majors. The 32-year-old will be nothing more than bullpen depth, but he did have a solid 1.03 WHIP in 60 innings with the Athletics in 2015.
