Jay Allen II Continuing To Struggle At High-A

Cincinnati Reds outfield prospect Jay Allen II has had trouble finding consistency in the batter's box over the past two months at High-A Dayton. After posting a strong .375 and .278 AVG in April and May, respectively, he has held a disappointing .143 AVG since June 1. During this stretch, Allen has only gone deep twice after launching seven home runs over the first two months. On July 21, he broke out of a four-game hitless streak by going 2-for-5, but he has been unable to keep this success rolling over an extended period. The 21-year-old will likely spend the rest of the summer at High-A to work out these struggles and may not reach Double-A until later next season.

Jay Allen II Launches Seventh Home Run

Cincinnati Reds outfield prospect Jay Allen II hit his seventh home run of the season in Thursday's victory. After getting a small taste of High-A ball last season, Allen has found his fitting at this level and has posted an excellent .322/.443/.621 line with seven swiped bags through 24 games. In 25 games at this level last summer, he struggled with a .154/.260/.220 slash line with just one home run. The 21-year-old is expected to reach the major leagues sometime in 2026 but is worth keeping an eye on in dynasty as he is showing a stellar combination of both power and speed.

Jay Allen II Hitting Well In High-A

Cincinnati Reds outfield prospect Jay Allen II has been off to a hot start for High-A Dayton. On Wednesday, Allen went 2-for-4 with five RBI, two walks, two stolen bases and a pair of homers. The homeruns were his fourth and fifth of the season and he is now hitting a pristine .386 to go along with 10 RBI and five stolen bases over his first 44 at-bats. Staying on the field has been the biggest issue for the young outfielder and his five round trippers are already a career best. Allen was a three-sport athlete coming out of high school, so his development might take a little longer than most players. The 21-year-old has been a bit aggressive at the plate, but he draws walks and the hope is that his plate aggressiveness will improve as Allen continues to develop. Allen is only a name for dynasty managers to keep on the watch-list for now.
