Kade Morris of the Athletics Gets the Call to the Majors

Dylan Quinn, who covers the Athletics via Sports Illustrated, reported Sunday that the Athletics are promoting their 12th-ranked prospect, Kade Morris. Morris was acquired from the Mets in the Paul Blackburn trade and now joins the A's rotation. This news comes after it was announced that Jacob Lopez would be heading to Triple-A after Sunday's game against the Yankees. Morris, a former 2023 third-round pick, has not been very good at Triple-A this season, with a 4.45 ERA and 1.47 WHIP to go along with a 7.27 K/9, but the Athletics have seen enough from Lopez's 6.75 ERA. Last season, across Double-A and Triple-A, Morris posted a 4.35 ERA and 1.35 WHIP with a 7.68 K/9, similar to his performance thus far in 2026. Morris features a fastball that can reach 97 mph and good armside run, generating a lot of ground balls. Morris should not be on the fantasy radar for now, but he has the opportunity to make the first leap to the Major League level and showcase what he can bring, which is worth monitoring in the fantasy landscape.

Kade Morris Tosses Seven Shutout Frames

Athletics right-handed pitching prospect Kade Morris tossed seven shutout innings during his start on Tuesday evening. He allowed six hits and one walk. He struck out six batters. This was a strong bounce-back showing for the former third-round pick as he allowed two hits and four runs (three earned) during his start of the season on April 9. Last summer, Morris spent most of his time with Low-A and High-A. Across 95 2/3 innings at the High-A level, the 22-year-old posted a 4.42 ERA with a 1.24 WHIP. He struck out 81 batters and served up 30 walks. He was then given a brief taste of Triple-A. However, at the start of the 2025 season, the Athletics opted for Morris to open the campaign with Double-A Midland to continue his development. He should push for a return to Triple-A in the coming weeks if he continues to perform well.

Kade Morris Performing Well At High-A

New York Mets starting pitching prospect Kade Morris was recently promoted to High-A and has logged three strong starts. Across 15 innings, the 21-year-old holds a 1.17 ERA, 0.91 WHIP, and a 5:12 BB:K ratio through his first three starts at High-A Brooklyn. Morris opened the season with Single-A and tossed 34 innings with a 3.63 ERA, 1.30 WHIP, and an 11:38 BB:K ratio. The former third-round pick has been progressing through the minor leagues rather quickly as he logged just 37 total innings at Single-A over the past two seasons and has already moved up to High-A. Currently, Morris is outside of the top 30 Mets prospects in MLB Pipeline, but that is sure to change over the course of the summer, given his current production.
