Luis Pena Extends Hitting Streak with Home Run

Milwaukee Brewers infield prospect Luis Pena went 1-for-5 with a home run during their contest against High-A Great Lakes on Friday evening. This was Pena's fourth-straight game, tallying a hit. Since joining High-A Wisconsin, Pena has looked quite productive. Through his first nine games at the High-A level, Pena has tallied at least one hit in all but one game and held an overall .278/.381/.611 slash line with three doubles, three home runs, and a stolen base. During this stretch, Pena has held an 11:5 K:BB. The 18-year-old opened the campaign with Low-A, where he posted an impressive .307/.374/.470 line with 14 doubles, six home runs, and an eye-catching 40 stolen bases. The No. 2-ranked prospect in the Milwaukee system is a prospect to monitor in all dynasty formats closely.

Luis Pena Goes Deep in High-A Debut

Milwaukee Brewers infield prospect Luis Pena went 1-for-4 with a home run and a walk during his High-A debut on Tuesday evening. Pena earned the promotion to High-A alongside fellow top prospect Jesus Made. Earlier in the season at Low-A, Pena flashed immense upside and is already making an impact at High-A. Through 71 games at Low-A Carolina, the No. 3-ranked prospect in the system on MLB.com posted an impressive .307/.374/.470 slash line with an .844 OPS. He went deep six times and added 14 doubles and swiped 40 bags. Despite only being 18 years old, Pena is quickly ascending prospect boards and is making a strong case to join the top-25 on MLB.com later this summer. He remains a top stash in dynasty formats despite being several seasons away from his MLB debut.

Luis Pena to be Promoted to High-A

Milwaukee Brewers infield prospect Luis Pena is headed to High-A Wisconsin after a 71-game audition at Single-A. He slashed .393/.457/.583 in 44 games last year in the Dominican Summer League, and this year in his first taste of stateside baseball, the Brewers' second-ranked prospect slashed .307/.374/.470 with six home runs and 40 steals. At just a 13.4 percent strikeout rate, the 18-year-old was clearly not overmatched and drew walks at a slightly better-than-average rate of 8.9 percent. There is power in his bat and more to come as he matures, but his calling cards are the hit and run tools. The young Venezuelan is a name to watch in dynasty leagues.

Luis Pena is the Biggest Riser in Latest Prospect Refresh

Milwaukee Brewers infield prospect Luis Pena was the biggest mover in MLB.com's latest refresh of their top prospects list, making a huge jump from No. 95 overall to No. 39, a 56-spot climb. The 5-foot-11 Venezuelan showed well last season in the Dominican Summer League, slashing .393/.457/.583 and adding 39 steals in just 44 games as a 17-year-old. The now-18-year-old is slashing .316/.385/.500 with six home runs and 35 steals through 53 games at Single-A Carolina, showing advanced contact skills with just a 12.8 percent strikeout rate to go along with a slightly above average walk rate of 9.4 percent. He's made a strong case for a promotion to High-A in the latter half of the year, and certainly one to keep an eye on in dynasty leagues, but given his age, he's still likely a couple of years away from the majors.

Luis Pena Swinging a Hot Bat at Low-A

Milwaukee Brewers infield prospect Luis Pena has been swinging a hot bat at Low-A. Over his last seven games since returning from a concussion, the No.9-ranked prospect in the system has posted an impressive .407/.422/.778 slash line with two triples, two home runs, and three stolen bases. Before missing time with a concussion, Pena was just as productive holding a strong .327/.400/.505 line with seven doubles, three home runs, and an impressive 21 stolen bases through 25 contests. Last summer, Pena made his professional debut in the Dominican Summer League and posted a .393/.457/.583 line through 44 games. Fantasy managers should continue to monitor his progression as he is developing into one of the top young prospects in the sport. Pena could be in the mix to reach High-A later this season.
