Robby Snelling Undergoes Internal-Brace Procedure on his Left Elbow

The Miami Marlins announced that left-handed pitching prospect Robby Snelling (elbow) had a left-elbow UCL repair with an internal brace on Friday, which was performed by Dr. Keith Meister. The timeline for Snelling's return to play is 10 to 12 months. Initial reports suggested that Snelling would undergo Tommy John surgery. Although Snelling will still miss the rest of the 2026 season and most likely half of next year, the internal-brace procedure should allow him to return on the early side of that timeline in 2027. The 22-year-old is considered Miami's No. 2 prospect, per MLB Pipeline, but he'll have to wait until late next season to potentially make his return to the major-league starting rotation. The former first-rounder in 2022 by the San Diego Padres made his big-league debut on May 8 against the Washington Nationals and allowed three earned runs in five innings with four walks and two strikeouts before landing on the injured list. Snelling development will be on pause, but he's still a stash candidate in deep dynasty/keeper formats.

Robby Snelling Will Undergo Tommy John Surgery

The Miami Marlins announced on Thursday that left-handed pitching prospect Robby Snelling (elbow) will undergo Tommy John surgery after consulting with Dr. Keith Meister, according to Craig Mish of Sports Grid. It's the worst-case scenario after the Marlins placed Snelling on the injured list with a sprained UCL following his first big-league start on May 8 against the Washington Nationals, when he allowed three earned runs while walking four and striking out two in five innings to take a loss. The club's No. 2 prospect, per MLB Pipeline, will now miss the remainder of the 2026 season and most likely the first half of next year as well. He can obviously be dropped by any fantasy managers who had scooped him up in redraft leagues after he was promoted to the majors. In long-term dynasty/keeper leagues, it's a big-time blow for his development, and could make him an interesting buy-low candidate.

Marlins Move Robby Snelling to 60-Day Injured List, Surgery Coming?

The Miami Marlins announced on Thursday that they transferred left-handed pitching prospect Robby Snelling (elbow) to the 60-day injured list. Snelling was placed on the 15-day injured list due to a sprained UCL in his left elbow, and now he's looking at an extended absence that will almost certainly stretch into the second half of the 2026 season. The team's No. 2 prospect, per MLB Pipeline, was scheduled to visit with Dr. Keith Meister on Thursday to determine if he'll need to have surgery on his elbow, which could cause him to miss the rest of the year. Snelling was a popular waiver-wire pickup for his upside when the Marlins initially called him up from Triple-A Jacksonville, but he made just one start for the Fish before suffering an elbow injury. He's now rostered in under 10% of Yahoo leagues, and his redraft stock continues to plummet because of his injury. Left-hander Braxton Garrett was next in line for a rotation shot in Miami, but he has since been demoted to Triple-A after two rough starts in the majors.

Robby Snelling to Visit With Specialist on Thursday

Miami Marlins left-handed pitching prospect Robby Snelling (elbow) is scheduled to visit with Dr. Keith Meister in Texas on Thursday, according to Christina De Nicola of MLB.com. Snelling made his major-league debut on May 8 in a loss against the Washington Nationals and was then placed on the 15-day injured list last Wednesday with a UCL sprain in his left elbow. The 22-year-old is out indefinitely and could need season-ending surgery on his elbow, depending on what Meister finds during his examination on Thursday. If Snelling gets good news and doesn't need to go under the knife, he still probably won't be an option to rejoin Miami's starting rotation until around the All-Star break in mid-July or later. After Snelling's injury, the Fish called up fellow lefty starter Braxton Garrett to join the rotation, but he disappointed in his 2026 debut and allowed five earned runs on five walks and three strikeouts against the Minnesota Twins on May 14 in just 1 1/3 innings pitched. Snelling is currently rostered in less than 10% of Yahoo leagues after his injury.

Robby Snelling to be Re-Evaluated Next Week

Miami Marlins left-handed pitching prospect Robby Snelling (elbow) will go for further evaluation next week, manager Clayton McCullough told Christina De Nicola of MLB.com. After making his MLB debut last week, Snelling was placed on the 15-day injured list with a UCL sprain in his left elbow, and it's unclear exactly when he might be able to rejoin the Marlins' starting rotation. In his MLB debut on May 8 against the Washington Nationals, the highly-touted pitching prospect allowed three earned runs in five innings while walking four and striking out two to take the loss. Fantasy managers stashing him in dynasty and deeper fantasy leagues might want to prepare for an extended absence, and there's also the possibility that the 22-year-old needs surgery. Left-hander Braxton Garrett took Snelling's spot in the rotation in Miami, but he flopped in his season debut with five earned runs allowed and five walks in just 1 1/3 innings against the Minnesota Twins on Thursday.

Robby Snelling Placed on 15-Day Injured List with Elbow Sprain

According to MLB.com, the Miami Marlins have placed left-handed pitcher Robby Snelling (elbow) on the 15-day injured list with a left elbow UCL sprain. The team's budding pitcher earned the call last week to make his MLB debut, but he will now shift to the injured list for a potentially lengthy stint. In his debut, the southpaw showed some growing pains as he allowed five hits and three runs over five frames while striking out just two hitters. However, earlier in the campaign, the lefty looked quite dominant at Triple-A, holding a stellar 1.86 ERA, 0.90 WHIP, and a 44:15 K:BB over 29 innings of work. With Snelling now in danger of missing an extended period on the shelf, managers should consider stashing Braxton Garrett, who currently resides at Triple-A, or the team's No. 1 pitching prospect, Thomas White, as both could earn the call in the near future.

Robby Snelling to Make Second MLB Start on Thursday Against Twins

Miami Marlins left-handed pitching prospect Robby Snelling is slated to make his second start in the big leagues this Thursday on the road at Target Field against the Minnesota Twins, according to MLB.com. In his major-league debut last Friday against the division-rival Washington Nationals, Snelling allowed three earned runs on five hits (one homer) while walking four and striking out two in five innings pitched to take the loss, so it wasn't the most effective first outing for the highly-regarded pitching prospect. The 6-foot-3, 210-pounder was brought up to Miami after going 3-1 with a 1.86 ERA, 0.89 WHIP, and 44:15 K:BB in 29 innings over six starts at Triple-A Jacksonville. Although Snelling walked more than he struck out in his MLB debut, he did generate 12 whiffs on 86 pitches, and he remains an intriguing young arm to stash in deeper fantasy leagues for his strikeout upside. It also appears that he is going to get an extended run in the Marlins' starting rotation. Snelling is currently rostered in 26% of Yahoo leagues. He'll be facing a Twins ballclub that ranks in the middle of the pack in baseball this year in team OPS.

Is Robby Snelling Still a Top Pickup After Shaky MLB Debut?

Miami Marlins starting pitcher Robby Snelling took the loss in his first MLB start on Friday against the Nationals. He worked five innings and gave up three runs on five hits and four walks while throwing 86 pitches. After starting the game with an impressive strikeout of James Wood, he gave up all three runs in the first inning, including a two-run blast from Jacob Young. Snelling settled in and didn't give up a run in the next four frames, but he also didn't have any strikeouts during those innings. The 22-year-old lefty had a sparkling 1.86 ERA and 44 strikeouts in 29 innings at Triple-A, and he still brings a high ceiling and excellent strikeout potential for as long as he stays in the starting rotation. His next turn lines up to be Thursday in Minnesota, and he remains a great option going forward, even though the results weren't ideal in his debut.

Robby Snelling Holds Must-Stash Value Ahead of MLB Debut

Miami Marlins left-handed pitching prospect Robby Snelling holds must-stash value ahead of his MLB debut on Friday evening against the Washington Nationals. The southpaw is slated to earn the call to earn the call to the big leagues ahead of their tilt on Friday evening. Snelling has been among the game's top pitchers at the Triple-A level since the 2025 campaign and will make his long-awaited MLB debut. Through 29 innings with Triple-A Jacksonville this season, Snelling has struck out 44 hitters while carrying an elite 1.86 ERA and a 0.90 WHIP. During his first stint with Triple-A during the second half of the 2025 campaign, Snelling looked just as sharp, posting a 1.27 ERA with a 0.99 WHIP over a much larger 63 2/3-inning stint. While Snelling's long-term position in the rotation is not guaranteed, a strong debut could earn him several more opportunities, making him a priority stash target on the waiver wire.

Robby Snelling Will Start on Friday for Marlins in MLB Debut

Miami Marlins left-handed pitching prospect Robby Snelling will officially be called up from Triple-A Jacksonville to make his major-league debut and start on Friday at home against the division-rival Washington Nationals, according to Craig Mish of Sports Grid. Snelling, the team's No. 2 prospect per MLB Pipeline, was already considered a must-stash young arm in deeper fantasy leagues, but he could quickly become worth rostering in shallower leagues as well. The 22-year-old southpaw gets the call to the big leagues for the first time after posting a nice 1.86 ERA, 0.90 WHIP, and 44:15 K:BB in 29 innings for the Jumbo Shrimp down on the farm. Snelling will be taking the rotation spot of right-hander Chris Paddack, who was designated for assignment on Tuesday. He features a high-90s fastball, and his slider, curveball, and changeup are also above-average offerings. The 6-foot-3, 210-pounder is also a bulldog on the mound and attacks hitters relentlessly. Snelling is rostered in 19% of Yahoo leagues, but that number is going to continue to rise, especially if he looks good in Friday's start.
