Angels
Infielder Scott Kingery agreed to an undisclosed one-year deal with the Los Angeles Angels on Thursday, avoiding salary arbitration, according to a source. Kingery was acquired from the Philadelphia Phillies on Nov. 1 and will head to spring training in February with the Angels hoping to win an Opening Day roster spot as infield depth with Zach Neto (shoulder) questionable to be ready for the start of the year after undergoing shoulder surgery. The 30-year-old former second-round pick of the Phillies in 2015 out of the University of Arizona will be a long shot to return any fantasy value in 2025, especially with the Angels. He didn't play at all in the big leagues in 2024 and was active for only 16 combined games in Philly in 2021 and 2022.

Scott Kingery Traded To Los Angeles
The Philadelphia Phillies have traded infielder Scott Kingery to the Los Angeles Angels in exchange for cash considerations according to Mark Feinsand of MLB.com. The 30-year-old has not appeared in a major league game since 2022 and has spent the past two seasons playing with Triple-A Lehigh Valley. Last season in the top level of the minor leagues, the former second-round pick held a .268/.314/.488 line with 17 doubles, 25 home runs, 67 RBI, and 25 stolen bases. Kingery will likely compete for a spot on the Opening Day Roster in Los Angeles but will more than likely spend most of the 2025 season in the minor leagues.

Scott Kingery Has Shoulder Surgery, Done For Year
Philadelphia Phillies utility player Scott Kingery (shoulder) has undergone surgery to repair a torn labrum in his right shoulder and will miss the remainder of 2021, according to Todd Zolecki of MLB.com. It was a rough year all around for Kingery, who was outrighted to Triple-A Lehigh Valley at the beginning of June after hitting 1-for-19 with a run scored over 15 games this season. He hadn't looked much better at Triple-A either, as he was slashing .181/.307/.292 with three steals, five RBI and 11 runs scored over 23 games. Hopefully he'll be able to come back from this surgery and compete for a spot on the Phillies roster out of Spring Training, as managers will hope for a return to Kingery's 2019 level of performance.

Scott Kingery Clears Waivers, Optioned To Triple-A
Philadelphia Phillies infielder/outfielder Scott Kingery cleared waivers and will join the Lehigh Valley IronPigs. Kingery, who signed a $24 million contract in 2018 before playing a Major League game, was optioned off the 40-man roster to potentially clear room for Luke Williams, the 29th ranked prospect in the Phillies' organization. Kingery has been one of the biggest disappointments in baseball after signing the aforementioned contract when he was considered an elite prospect. He is 1-for-19 (.053) this season with 12 strikeouts. Last season he batted just .159 with a .511 OPS across 113 at-bats. Perhaps playing every day in the minors can help Kingery, that's the hope for the Phillies, at least. Fantasy managers don't need to roster Kingery in any format until he shows he can still hit in the minors.

Scott Kingery Activated, Outrighted To Minors
Philadelphia Phillies infielder/outfielder Scott Kingery (concussion) has been activated off the concussion injured list and outrighted to Triple-A. He passed through waivers unclaimed and is now off the 40-man roster. It's unsurprising that Kingery went unclaimed since he has been horrendous with the bat this season. Kingery was given a $24 million extension before making his MLB debut. It's highly unlikely that he ever lives up to expectations. He can be avoided in all fantasy formats and it's uncertain if he'll even play on the Phillies again this season.

Spencer Howard, Scott Kingery Called Up By Phillies
The Philadelphia Phillies have called up pitcher Spencer Howard and infielder/outfielder Scott Kingery from the team's alternate site prior to Wednesday's game against the San Francisco Giants. In corresponding moves, second baseman Jean Segura (quad) was placed on the 10-day injured list and pitcher Ramon Rosso was optioned to the alternate site. Kingery should see a decent amount of playing time at second base with Segura sidelined and is worth roster consideration in deep leagues and NL only leagues. Howard, who was used exclusively as a starter in the minor leagues, will likely serve as a long reliever for now. Howard has struggled in his brief Major League exposure with a 6.04 ERA and 1.697 WHIP over 25.1 innings the last two years.

Scott Kingery Picks Up Hit In Bid For Starting Job
Philadelphia Phillies infielder/outfielder Scott Kingery picked up a hit in Wednesday's Grapefruit League game against the Tigers. Kingery is competing with Adam Haseley, Roman Quinn, and Odubel Herrera for the starting job in center field. Kingery is coming off a miserable 2020 where he hit just .159 in 36 games. While his bad 2020 has Kingery buried in fantasy rankings, there is hope the former prospect can rebound in 2021. Kingery dealt with an extended case of COVID for three weeks before camp last summer and said he never fully recovered even once he tested negative. Having a full offseason to recover could help Kingery return to the player he was in 2017 when he batted over .300 with 29 steals across Double-A and Triple-A. He's worth a flier as a multi-position bench player at the end of fantasy drafts.

Scott Kingery Shows Some Life This Spring
Philadelphia Phillies infielder/outfielder Scott Kingery, who entered Thursday's Grapefruit League game 2-for-14 following a three-strikeout performance on Tuesday, went 1-for-2 with a double on Thursday against Yankees ace Gerrit Cole. "I think he needed it for his psyche," manager Joe Girardi said. Fantasy managers shouldn't glean a whole lot from spring slumps, but it's worth mentioning after Kingery slashed just .159/.228/.283 with three home runs and six RBI in 113 at-bats in 2020. The 26-year-old did deal with a bout of COVID-19 and a shoulder injury last year, but he's also fighting for playing time on a crowded Philly roster to begin 2021. The former top prospect is worth a late-round flier in deep mixed leagues for his positional versatility, but he'll have to earn more playing time in spring training and early in the regular season.

Scott Kingery Homers In Spring Training Game Thursday
Philadelphia Phillies infielder/outfielder Scott Kingery hit a solo home run to lead off Thursday's Grapefruit League game against the Yankees. Kingery is trying to earn a starting job after batting just .159 in 36 games last season. Kingery had severe symptoms during a battle with COVID-19 last July and also missed time with a shoulder injury. If he's healthy, he can be a sneaky-good fantasy asset as a late-round flier. Kingery is a former top-prospect who posted a .826 OPS across Double-A and Triple-A and his multi-position eligibility is a nice bonus for fantasy managers looking for bench players with upside.

Phillies Are Still Hopeful For Scott Kingery
Philadelphia Phillies utility man Scott Kingery has had anything but a normal start to his big-league career. The former top prospect signed a six-year, $28 million contract before playing an MLB game and has been largely disappointing in three years since making the Phillies. Last season, Kingery was to abandon his super-utility role and settle in as the starting second baseman, but a long bout with COVID-19 caused him to miss the start of camp. A shoulder injury ended Kingery's season in August with an anemic .127 batting average. As a result, Kingery has largely fallen off the fantasy radar, but he still offers value in deeper formats. Kingery trimmed down this offseason with the hope of returning to the player he was in the minors when he posted an OPS of .826 across Double-A and Triple-A. Kingery's multi-position eligibility helps make him worth a flier at the end of drafts in deeper leagues.
