The New York Mets signed free-agent outfielder Travis Swaggerty and infielder Yonny Hernandez to minor-league deals on Wednesday. Swaggerty posted an .800 OPS with seven home runs and 41 RBI in 73 games in Independent baseball last year and appeared in five major-league games with the Pittsburgh Pirates back in 2022. Hernandez debuted in the majors in 2021 with the Texas Rangers before joining the Arizona Diamondbacks in 2022 and the Los Angeles Dodgers in 2023. In 221 total MLB plate appearances, he's hit just .190/.286/.222 with no home runs, 10 RBI, 13 steals and 22 runs scored in 69 games. The Venezuelan infielder played in 81 games at Triple-A Nashville in 2024 and hit .241 with two homers, 32 RBI and 13 thefts. Both Swaggerty and Hernandez will likely open up the 2025 campaign at Triple-A Syracuse.

The Los Angeles Dodgers acquired infielder Yonny Hernandez from the Oakland Athletics on Thursday in exchange for cash considerations. Hernandez played in just 12 major-league games with the Arizona Diamondbacks in 2022, going 2-for-24 (.083) with no home runs or RBI, two stolen bases and four strikeouts. In his rookie season in 2021 with the Texas Rangers, he slashed .217/.315/.252 with no homers, six RBI, 15 runs scored and 11 stolen bases in 43 games (166 plate appearances). The 24-year-old will strictly give the Dodgers some more infield depth in the organization. The switch-hitter batted .241/.349/.324 with a homer, 31 RBI, 49 runs scored and 30 stolen bases in 71 games at two Triple-A levels in the minors last season.

Texas Rangers infielder Yonny Hernandez made the most of his chance at the top of the order during Wednesday's game. He went 2-for-4 with a pair of singles during the 3-1 loss to the Seattle Mariners. Hernandez has hit well since joining the Rangers and appears to be a nice fit towards the top of the lineup. He has three RBI and three stolen bases during his brief time in Texas. Possibly, Hernandez becomes a deep league option, but could be an intriguing dynasty league stash.

He was given the game off on Friday, but is back and playing second base on Saturday. He'll bat second in a tough matchup versus right-hander James Kaprielian. The 23-year-old is mainly known for his elite speed, so he could be a nice source for stolen bases. Hernandez might be worth snagging in AL-only formats, assuming he continues to get into the lineup on a daily basis.
