Detroit Lions linebacker Alex Anzalone (forearm) has been placed on Injured Reserve on Monday. This is another big hit to the Lions defense. Anzalone suffered a broken forearm during Sunday's win over the Jacksonville Jaguars. The organization said Anzalone is set to miss 6-8 weeks while he recovers from this injury. There's a chance he's ready by the end of the season or in time for the playoffs. Anzalone has 56 tackles, seven tackles for loss, and one sack through nine games this season. Jack Campbell figures to start in his place going forward. This Lions defense can't take too many more hits with a handful of defenders already on the injured reserve.

The Falcons are by far the most run-heavy team in the NFL, and they present a good opportunity for Anzalone to have a high-tackle game. While Anzalone is known to miss a tackle from time to time, he gets enough opportunities to make up for it. Anzalone made six tackles in Week 1 and seven tackles plus a sack in Week 2. Opponents are averaging 70 team tackles per game against the Falcons.

Detroit officially placed Anzalone on Injured Reserve on Monday after he was injured in the Week 15 upset win over the Arizona Cardinals on Sunday. The 27-year-old will end the year with a team-leading 78 tackles (49 solo), one tackle for loss, two QB hits, one interception, seven passes defensed and one sack in 14 starts. Anzalone has a long history of shoulder problems and dislocated his right shoulder three times in a five-season span in college and early in his NFL career. He played just two games in 2019 before having his second shoulder surgery. Before his latest shoulder injury, Anzalone was a defensive captain and was one of the team's most durable players.
