Anthony Walker Jr. News
Cleveland Browns linebacker Anthony Walker Jr. (quadriceps) will undergo season-ending surgery after he tore his quadriceps tendon in Thursday night's game against the Steelers. The timeline for recovery is considered to be five-to-seven months, so the 27-year-old should be able to make it back for the 2023 campaign. Over his career, Walker has started in 63 games and has registered 469 tackles (305 solo) and 4.5 sacks with three interceptions. Walker is an important part of the Browns' defense, but Jacob Phillips will need to step up in his absence.
The Cleveland Browns re-signed linebacker Anthony Walker to a one-year, $5 million deal on Wednesday, according to his agents, Drew Rosenhaus and Ryan Matha. Walker will return for his second season in Cleveland in 2022 after recording a team-high 113 tackles (69 solo), two passes defensed and one sack in 13 games (12 starts) in 2021. The 26-year-old played the first four seasons of his NFL career with the Indianapolis Colts, and he has 100-plus combined tackles in three of his five seasons. Walker is on the IDP radar as a tackle machine, but the upside isn't that great with a total of 4.5 sacks in 70 games (60 starts).
Cleveland Browns linebacker Anthony Walker (hamstring) has been activated from injured reserve in time to take the field for Sunday's matchup vs. the Chargers. Walker, who has primarily been a starter with the Colts over the past three years, made 10 combined tackles and played 95 percent of defensive snaps for the Browns defense in the season opener before a hamstring injury struck. While many members of the Cleveland defense are dealing with injuries that have their status in question for Week 5, the addition of Walker is another reason to buy into the long-term upside of a group that is anchored by Myles Garrett and Jadeveon Clowney.
