Jamal Adams News
Seattle Seahawks safety Jamal Adams (shoulders, fingers) played Saturday's wild-card game against the Rams with a torn labrum in his left shoulder that will require offseason surgery. Adams also has a right shoulder injury that could need offseason surgery, and the All-Pro safety also plans to have surgery on the fingers on his left hand. The 25-year-old showed his toughness by gutting it out in the wild-card loss to Los Angeles. The former Jet made his third straight Pro Bowl team in 2020, racking up 83 combined tackles (11 for loss), 14 QB hits, one forced fumble and a career-high 9.5 sacks in 12 games in his first year in Seattle. Adams battled through injuries and missed a few games along the way, but he still finished as the No. 12 fantasy defensive back in IDP leagues. He should be considered as the first defensive back off the board in IDP drafts again next season.
Seattle Seahawks safety Jamal Adams (hand, shoulder) said that he will be playing in the wild-card playoff game against the Rams on Saturday, despite the fact that head coach Pete Carroll said on Tuesday that the All-Pro safety would be a game-time decision. "No question in my mind, I'm playing, man. As long as these legs are moving... I'm going to be out there... Let's get that out there, I'm full-go," Adams said. The 25-year-old was limited in practice on Wednesday, so he certainly has a chance to play this weekend. There's an argument to be made that Adams is the most valuable run-stopping and blitzing safety in the NFL when he's on the field, accumulating 59 tackles (11 for loss), 14 QB hits and a career-high 9.5 sacks in 12 games in his first year in Seattle. The three-time Pro Bowler has helped Seattle's defense stiffen late in the season, and they'll be a sneaky fantasy unit if John Wolford is under center for LA on Saturday.
Seattle Seahawks head coach Pete Carroll said that a decision on the status of safety Jamal Adams (shoulder) for the wild-card playoff game against the Rams will be taken all the way to game day. Despite playing in just 12 games due to injury, Adams ranked as the 12th-best defensive back for those playing in IDP leagues in 2020. If the 25-year-old All-Pro safety is limited or inactive on Saturday, it'll be a huge boost to the Rams running attack and their offense as a whole, with backup John Wolford potentially making his second career start with Jared Goff (thumb) recovering from surgery on a broken and dislocated right thumb last week. An Adams absence would also be bad news for a Seahawks Defense that has been much more stingy in the second half of the season.
