T.J. Hockenson News
Detroit Lions tight end T.J. Hockenson is expected to stick with the organization for at least two more seasons. On Tuesday, the Lions exercised Hockenson's fifth-year option that is worth $9.3 million in 2023. This is an unsurprising move as Hockenson has been a solid option for Detroit since being drafted in 2019. He is likely going to be a main factor in their offensive scheme next season. It sounds like the organization plans to keep Hockenson there long term.
Detroit Lions tight end T.J. Hockenson is likely to be staying with the organization a little longer. Lions GM Brad Holmes mentioned they will likely exercise Hockenson's fifth-year option, assuming the two sides don't agree on a long term deal. The Lions will have until May 2 to finalize a deal with Hockenson. The 24-year-old is likely to get a deal in the range of $60 million total. That would be a deal similar to what the Philadelphia Eagles gave tight end Dallas Goedert. Hockenson was reliable through 12 games last season, so hopefully he can stay healthy in 2022.
The Detroit Lions reportedly will pick up tight end T.J. Hockenson's (thumb) fifth-year option. Lions general manager Brad Holmes confirmed he intends to pick up the fifth-year option on Hockenson's rookie contract. The team has until May 2 to formally announce the decision as his option will guarantee the tight end of $9.4 million in 2022. Both sides could work out a long-term extension before the May deadline. The 24-year-old underwent thumb surgery during the off-season but is expected to fully recover in time for the off-season program. He caught 61 passes for 583 yards and four touchdowns over 12 games in 2021. Hockenson is expected to be one of Jared Goff's top targets and is a top-10 fantasy tight end heading into the 2022 season.

T.J. Hockenson was one of just five tight ends who reached the century mark in targets last year. Hockenson was drafted with the eighth overall pick and many scouting grades had him not far behind their current grading of Kyle Pitts. It may seem...
