Josh Morrissey Fully Healthy for Start of Season

Winnipeg Jets defenseman Josh Morrissey (knee) is at 100 percent ahead of the new campaign. "Everything is great," Morrissey told Ken Wiebe of The Winnipeg Free Press. "It was bad timing (for the injury to occur), but a good result, in that the injury wasn't too severe. I knew the protocol and I knew the plan. I've been skating for two months now and it feels as good or better than it did before." Morrissey injured his left knee during Winnipeg's final game of the 2025 Stanley Cup Playoffs. Fortunately for the Jets and fantasy managers, the star defenseman is completely healthy for the start of 2025-26 and will try for a fourth consecutive year with 60-plus points.

Josh Morrissey Sustains Knee Injury in Game 6 Loss

Winnipeg Jets defenseman Josh Morrissey sustained an apparent knee injury in Saturday's 2-1 overtime loss to the Dallas Stars. He was forced to exit the contest in the second period, logging only 14:55 of ice time in the elimination game. "It's not good," Jets head coach Scott Arniel said about Morrissey's injury after the game. "He's banged up pretty good." The 30-year-old also suffered an upper-body injury during the postseason, which caused him to miss one game. Morrissey will now have the entire offseason to get back into game shape. Winnipeg's No. 1 defenseman has become one of the top fantasy producers among blue-liners, recording three consecutive 60-point campaigns. He finished this season with 14 goals, 48 assists, 172 shots, and 113 blocks in 80 appearances.

Josh Morrissey A Game-Time Decision Wednesday

Winnipeg Jets defenseman Josh Morrissey (upper body) is considered a game-time decision for Wednesday's second-round series opener against the Dallas Stars. Winnipeg lost its No. 1 defenseman early in Sunday's Game 7 victory over the St. Louis Blues, as Morrissey sustained an upper-body injury. He wore a non-contact jersey in Tuesday's practice. As usual, Morrissey has made an impact all over the ice in the playoffs, registering three assists, 11 shots, 10 blocks, and 15 hits. Fellow blue-liner Logan Stanley (undisclosed) is also considered a game-time call for Wednesday. Haydn Fleury and Colin Miller will continue to play if neither returns. At the same time, Neal Pionk and Dylan Samberg, who both logged 44-plus minutes of action in Sunday's double-overtime win, will once again have to shoulder a massive workload.

Josh Morrissey To Be Re-Evaluated Monday

Winnipeg Jets defenseman Josh Morrissey (upper body) will be re-evaluated on Monday after he was injured in Sunday's Game 7 against the St. Louis Blues. Morrissey was forced to exit the contest after taking a hit from Blues forward Oskar Sundqvist along the boards. He logged only four shifts and 2:09 of ice time. Following Morrissey's exit, Neal Pionk led the blue line and did an incredible job during the team's comeback victory, posting three assists in 46:15 of action. Dylan Samberg also logged over 40 minutes in the double-overtime win. The Jets start their second-round series against the Dallas Stars on Wednesday, giving Morrissey some time to recover. However, if he has to miss additional time, Pionk would once again face a heavy workload.

Additionally, he has logged 110 blocks, marking his fourth consecutive season with at least 100 blocked shots. The Jets defense will also have Neal Pionk (rest) back for Wednesday's game. Josh Morrissey Available On Monday

Winnipeg Jets defenseman Josh Morrissey (illness) will be back in action on Monday against the San Jose Sharks. After falling sick, Morrissey missed Thursday's 4 Nations Face-Off final and was also unavailable as Winnipeg continued its season on Saturday against the St. Louis Blues. However, Morrissey has been cleared for action on Monday, replacing Ville Heinola in the lineup. Morrissey is tied sixth among all blue-liners in scoring, boasting 46 points (seven goals, 36 assists) through 56 appearances. However, the 29-year-old has gone scoreless in back-to-back games with the Jets and didn't register any points in three 4 Nations Face-Off outings with Team Canada.

Josh Morrissey Will Not Play On Thursday

Winnipeg Jets defenseman Josh Morrissey (illness) will miss Thursday's 4 Nations Face-Off finale against Team USA. According to Sportsnet's Elliotte Friedman, Morrissey is battling an illness. The Canadians lost Shea Theodore (upper body) early in the tournament, and Morrissey's absence is another setback for the blue line. Thomas Harley of the Dallas Stars will join the lineup as Morrissey's replacement, marking his second appearance in the 4 Nations Face-Off. Harley also played in Saturday's matchup against the U.S. He went scoreless in 18:17 of play, finishing with two shots on goal, three blocked shots, one hit, and a minus-one rating.

Winnipeg Jets defenseman Josh Morrissey tallied two assists during their overtime victory over the Colorado Avalanche on Wednesday evening. In the second frame, Morrissey would tally the secondary assist on Morgan Barron's fifth goal of the season. Later in the period, Morrissey would dish out the primary assist on Gabe Vilardi's 20th goal of the campaign. He also added four shots on goal. Over his previous ten games, Morrissey has tallied six helpers with two goals and averaged 2.3 shots on goal per game. The 29-year-old has been an integral part of the Winnipeg offense, as he has tallied 42 points (five goals, 37 helpers) across 49 games. Josh Morrissey Day-To-Day With Lower Body Injury

According to Mike McIntyre of Winnipeg News, Winnipeg Jets defenseman Josh Morrissey (lower body) is day-to-day with a lower body injury. The 29-year-old left Tuesday's contest against the Nashville Predators in the second frame with this injury. Before exiting, Morrissey scored a goal and blocked a shot. McIntyre noted that the defender is currently viewed as day-to-day. Fantasy managers should continue to monitor his status leading up to Friday's contest against the Los Angeles Kings. Morrissey is currently riding a three-game point streak and has tallied 16 points (three goals, 13 helpers) over his previous 18 contests. Morrissey should be viewed as a must-start defenseman when healthy.

Josh Morrissey A Game-Time Call For Saturday

Winnipeg Jets defenseman Josh Morrissey (lower body) is considered a game-time decision for Saturday's matchup against the Maple Leafs. The 28-year-old was limited to only 7:17 of action against Toronto on Wednesday, and he would be out for the first time this season if Morrissey isn't in the lineup on Saturday. However, he was able to practice on Friday, and it's considered likely that Morrissey will play. Morrissey is tied for 12th in scoring among defensemen, registering 33 points (seven goals, 26 assists) in 46 appearances. Josh Morrissey Sets Jets Record With Four Assists

Winnipeg Jets defenseman Josh Morrissey wrote his name in history on Tuesday night by becoming the team's first-ever blue-liner to post four assists in a single game. He put on a playmaking clinic in a 6-3 victory over New Jersey. Two of Morrissey's helpers came on the power play. Morrissey is also now the second rearguard in Jets history with multiple four-point games, joining Dustin Byfuglien. The 28-year-old set himself very high standards with a 76-point campaign last season, but Morrissey isn't far from matching his output in 2023-24, with him averaging just 0.04 points fewer. In 15 outings, Morrissey has had one goal and 13 assists.

Josh Morrissey Feeling "100 Percent Ready To Go"

Winnipeg Jets defenseman Josh Morrissey has fully healed from a lower-body injury suffered during the 2023 Stanley Cup Playoffs and is ready to start a new campaign. "Been taking my time with it, really trying to do it right, using all the different modalities and things you can do," Morrissey told NHL.com about his injury. "I'm 100 percent ready to go. No lingering issues at all." Morrissey had a huge breakout campaign in 2022-23 with 76 points (16 goals, 60 assists) in 78 games, more than doubling his previous career-high in scoring. It will be hard to replicate it during the upcoming campaign, but he will no doubt play a major role for the Jets again.

Josh Morrissey Done For Rest Of First-Round Series

Winnipeg Jets defenseman Josh Morrissey has been ruled out for the rest of the first-round series against Vegas after he suffered a lower-body injury in Saturday's Game 3. He was injured in a collision with Golden Knights defenseman Zach Whitecloud and logged just 1:14 of action in the contest. This is an awful blow for the Jets, as Morrissey has played a huge part for the team this season on both ends of the ice, logging 60 assists and 76 points in 78 regular-season outings with 89 hits and 119 blocks. Following Morrissey's exit, Neal Pionk took on a lot of extra shifts and finished with a whopping 41:08 of ice time in a double-overtime game. He tied a franchise record for most points and assists in a playoff game with three helpers, and Pionk appears set to play a massive role for the rest of the way in the series.

Josh Morrissey Sets New Record With 20th Multi-Point Outing

Winnipeg Jets defenseman Josh Morrissey logged a goal and two assists in Monday's 6-2 win over San Jose, setting a new franchise record for most multi-point games in a season by a defenseman. Dustin Byfuglien had held the mark with 19 games since 2011-12, but Monday marked Morrissey's 20th such outing in 2022-23. Morrissey's scoring pace has dropped significantly at the end of the season, but he is still averaging close to a point per game, having tallied 16 goals and 59 assists in 77 outings. Blake Wheeler and Marc Savard are the only players in franchise history to post more assists in one season.
