Minnesota Twins relief pitcher Beau Burrows struggled in Monday's loss to the White Sox. Burrows served up a pair of homers and four runs in the opening frame, as the White Sox got off to a fast start. The final line for Burrows wasn't pretty- two innings pitched, seven runs allowed- six earned- three walks issued, and only two strikeouts. The right-hander has made five appearances for the Twins this season and has allowed at least one earned run in all but one of them. Needless to say, Burrows is off the fantasy radar pitching for the 48-65 Twins.
Minnesota Twins relief pitcher Beau Burrows was recalled from Triple-A St. Paul on Saturday. The 24-year-old is needed to fill some spots in the staff, specifically for Randy Dobnak (finger), Derek Law (shoulder), Danny Coulombe (personal). Burrows, who was claimed off waivers in June after spending time in Detroit, is currently sitting on an atrocious 21.60 ERA throughout one big league game this year. As a result, he isn't worth a spot on fantasy rosters, at least until he turns things around.
Detroit Tigers relief pitcher Beau Burrows was recalled from Triple-A Toledo on Thursday, the team announced on Twitter. Burrows was called up to take the spot of reliever Rony Garcia, who was placed on the 10-day injured list with a left knee sprain. A former first round pick for Detroit, Burrows struggled in his major league debut in 2020 where he allowed four runs on eight hits and one walk with three strikeouts over 6 2/3 innings of work. He hasn't done a whole lot better at Triple-A this year, where he has posted a 6.23 ERA with 17 strikeouts in 17 1/3 innings of work. Best case scenario for Burrows right now is that he can be a decent SV/HLD option, but outside of that he can be safely left on the waiver-wire.
Detroit Tigers pitcher Beau Burrows has been recalled from Triple-A on Thursday. He will be taking the roster spot of Rony Garcia (knee) who has been placed on the 10-day injured list. Garcia suffered a left knee sprain during warmups on Wednesday. His timetable to return is unknown, but he wasn't exactly an asset in fantasy leagues anyway. Burrows is expected to take over the long relief role, but posted a 6.23 ERA through 17 1/3 innings in Triple-A this season. Both players can be avoided in fantasy formats going forward.
Detroit Tigers pitching prospects Alex Faedo (team's No. 10 prospect), Joey Wentz (No. 9), Beau Burrows (No. 15) and Kyle Funkhouser were optioned to Triple-A Toledo on Friday, while catcher Dillon Dingler (No. 8), pitcher Zack Hess (No. 30), Gerson Moreno, Daniel Pinero, Jacob Robson, Aderlin Rodriguez and Danny Woodrow were reassigned to minicamp. Faedo is out for the year while rehabbing Tommy John surgery. Wentz had the same surgery a year ago and is expected to return to minor league games this summer. Burrows and Funkhouser were the only ones with a real chance to win roster spots. Burrows, the Tigers top pick in 2015, threw 1 1/3 perfect innings on March 1 against the Yankees. Burrows and Funkhouser will be part of the alternate training site when the season opens with the Triple-A season being delayed by a month.
Matt Manning, Beau Burrows Throw Bullpen For Tigers
Detroit Tigers pitching prospects Matt Manning and Beau Burrows have finished up their minor league season at Double-A Erie, and traveled to Chicago on Wednesday to throw bullpen sessions for Tigers pitching coach Rick Anderson. Manning and Burrows are the Nos. 3 and 5 prospects in the Tigers organization, respectively, and both players are giving Tiger faithfuls some hope for the future in this rebuilding phase. Manning struck out 154 batters in 117 2/3 innings of work on the season, and Burrows finished the season 10-9 with 127 strikeouts in 134 innings of work.
