Blake Snell, Yoshinobu Yamamoto to Pitch First Two Games of World Series

Los Angeles Dodgers manager Dave Roberts said that left-hander Blake Snell and right-hander Yoshinobu Yamamoto will start the first two games of the World Series, respectively, on Friday and Saturday against the Toronto Blue Jays, according to Fabian Ardaya of The Athletic. Both Snell and Yamamoto have been lights-out on the mound for the Dodgers in the postseason as the Dodgers head into their second straight Fall Classic appearance. Snell has given up just two earned runs with five walks and 28 strikeouts in three wins over the Reds, Phillies, and Brewers in 21 innings. He also tossed five shutout innings with 10 K's in a win over Toronto on Aug. 9 during the regular season. Yamamoto has given up six runs (four earned) with four walks and 18 K's in 19 2/3 frames over his three postseason starts this October. The Japanese hurler did not face the Blue Jays during regular-season action in 2025.

Blake Snell Named Game 1 Starter for NLCS

Los Angeles Dodgers starting pitcher Blake Snell has been named the starting pitcher for Monday's Game 1 of the NLCS against the Milwaukee Brewers. The southpaw finished the regular season strong, allowing one earned run over his final three starts (19 innings pitched), allowing a total of nine hits and five walks while striking out 28. The 32-year-old has carried that momentum into the postseason, allowing two earned runs over two starts (13 IP), yielding five hits and six walks while striking out 18. The 2x Cy Young winner did not face the Brewers during the regular season, but Milwaukee had the highest batting average (.286) and the third-highest wRC+ (118) versus left-handed pitchers from August 1 through the end of the season, so it should prove to be a challenging lineup for the veteran hurler.

Blake Snell Named Game 2 Starter

Los Angeles Dodgers starting pitcher Blake Snell has been named the starting pitcher for Monday's Game 2 of the NLDS against the Philadelphia Phillies. Snell tossed seven innings, allowing two runs while striking out nine batters during the Wild-Card round on Tuesday. The assumption is that Clayton Kershaw will follow Snell out of the bullpen. That being said, the Dodgers might not push Snell to seven innings this time around. This will be a tougher challenge for Snell against a strong Phillies lineup. Snell racked up double digit strikeouts in two of his final three regular season starts. That being said, his high strikeout upside makes him an appealing option for DFS contests.

Blake Snell Starting Game 1 of Wild-Card Series Versus Reds

The Los Angeles Dodgers announced on Monday that left-hander Blake Snell will make the start on Tuesday night at Dodger Stadium against the Cincinnati Reds for Game 1 of the wild-card series. Snell will be opposed by Reds hard-throwing right-hander Hunter Greene. The Reds will have a tough matchup on their hands with Snell, who had a minuscule 0.47 ERA with 28 strikeouts in 19 innings in his final three starts of the regular season. Injuries cropped up again for the 32-year-old two-time Cy Young winner, limiting him to just 11 starts in his first year with the Blue. However, when he was available, he was tough to hit, going 5-4 with a 2.35 ERA and 1.25 WHIP with 72 punchouts and 26 walks in 61 1/3 frames during the regular season. Snell did not face the Reds this year. The Reds as a team ranked 13th in the majors in 2025 in OPS (.720) against left-handed pitchers.

Blake Snell Activated From Paternity List Tuesday

The Los Angeles Dodgers activated starting pitcher Blake Snell (paternity list) from the paternity list on Tuesday. Snell was placed on the paternity list on August 23. The 32-year-old should slot back into the rotation later in the week, but fantasy managers should keep an eye out as the team releases probable pitchers in the coming days. Snell has only made six starts this season due to shoulder inflammation, going 3-2 with a 1.97 ERA, a 1.38 WHIP, and a 22.2% strikeout rate in 32 innings pitched. It is tough to judge him on such a small sample size, but Snell's track record is more than enough evidence to have him in fantasy managers' lineups whenever he takes the mound.

Kirby Yates Activated, Blake Snell Placed on Paternity List

The Los Angeles Dodgers announced that they have activated reliever Kirby Yates (back) from the 15-day injured list and placed left-hander Blake Snell (personal) on the paternity list. Yates is returning after missing nearly a month with pain in his lower back. He went 4-3 with a 4.31 ERA, a 1.31 WHIP, 44:12 K:BB, 13 holds, and three saves in 31 1/3 innings before hitting the IL on July 29. The 38-year-old right-hander should step back into a setup role now that he's rejoining the Dodgers' bullpen. Snell, meanwhile, will not miss any starts while on paternity leave, as he'll only be away for up to three days. He threw seven innings of two-run ball in a 2-1 loss to the San Diego Padres on Friday. The two-time Cy Young winner has gone 3-2 with a 1.97 ERA, a 1.38 WHIP, and 30:15 K:BB over 32 innings in his first season with the Dodgers. He's scheduled to make his next start on Aug. 29 against the Arizona Diamondbacks.

Blake Snell Fans Eight, Takes Loss in Return From Injured List

Los Angeles Dodgers left-hander Blake Snell (shoulder) made his long-awaited return from the injured list Saturday after missing four months with shoulder inflammation. Facing the Tampa Bay Rays, one of his former teams, Snell tossed five innings of five-hit, three-run ball with eight strikeouts and no walks on 86 pitches (57 strikes). Snell surrendered two home runs to Yandy Diaz, but he was otherwise sharp in a 4-0 loss. While Snell fell to 1-1 on the year in his third start and first since April 2, his strikeout total, command, average fastball velocity (95 mph), and 19 whiffs were all encouraging signs. The Dodgers are easing the 32-year-old back in as part of a six-man rotation. He's scheduled to toe the rubber again next Saturday against the Toronto Blue Jays.

Blake Snell Scheduled to Make his Return on Saturday

Los Angeles Dodgers starting pitcher Blake Snell (shoulder) will come off the 60-day injured list and start against the Tampa Bay Rays on Saturday. This marks the first time that Snell has taken a big league mound since April 2. Most recently, Snell tossed 4.2 scoreless innings, allowing zero hits, and striking out seven batters this past Saturday with Triple-A Oklahoma City. It appears the southpaw is ready for the big leagues again after a four-month absence. It's worth noting that Dodgers' manager Dave Roberts said the team will move to a six-man rotation going forward. That will mean slightly less fantasy value for these pitchers with there being longer times between each start. Despite that, Snell needs to be rostered and started in all fantasy formats this weekend.

Blake Snell's Next Start Expected to Come With Dodgers

Los Angeles Dodgers manager Dave Roberts said that left-hander Blake Snell (shoulder) is expected to come off the injured list and rejoin the starting rotation for his next turn, per The Athletic's Fabian Ardaya. Snell looked god in his fourth minor-league rehab outing with Triple-A Oklahoma City on Saturday night, throwing 4 2/3 scoreless innings with seven strikeouts, although he did walk four batters. The 32-year-old has always had issues with command, but he's also won two Cy Young awards and still has plenty of strikeout upside when he's on for one of the best teams in baseball. It's unclear when Snell might make his return to L.A.'s rotation, but it could come next weekend against his former squad, the Tampa Bay Rays. Snell needs to be rostered in all fantasy leagues for the remainder of the season as he nears his return.

Blake Snell Records Seven Strikeouts in Rehab Start

Los Angeles Dodgers starting pitcher Blake Snell (shoulder) took the mound for a minor league rehab start with Triple-A Oklahoma City on Saturday. Snell tossed 4.2 scoreless innings, allowing four hits, four walks, and striking out seven batters. It was a 76 pitch outing for Snell in which only 40 of those pitches were thrown for strikes. Barring any setbacks, Snell should be ready to rejoin the Dodgers rotation by the beginning of August. He'll probably require at least one more rehab start before rejoining the Dodgers rotation.
