According to the team, Seattle Mariners outfielder Cade Marlowe has been outrighted to Triple-A. Marlowe was designated for assignment earlier this week and will now open the 2025 season at Triple-A Tacoma. Last season, Marlowe appeared in eight contests for the Mariners and held a .250/.333/.250 line. He did not tally an extra-base hit. In 2023, Marlowe made his MLB debut and posted a .229/.330/.420 slash line with three doubles and three home runs. Across 90 contests with Triple-A Tacoma last summer, the 27-year-old posted a .235/.341/.395 slash line, eight doubles, and 13 home runs. Fantasy managers should not expect Marlowe to have any fantasy value early in the season playing at the Triple-A level. However, he will likely get the call to Seattle as a depth option later in the campaign.
The Seattle Mariners designated outfielder Cade Marlowe for assignment on Monday to make room on the 40-man roster for second baseman Jorge Polanco, who the team re-signed late last week. Marlowe gets the boot off the M's roster after going 2-for-8 with a walk, strikeout and a run scored in only eight games played at the big-league level. In 34 games in his MLB debut the year prior, he hit .239 (21-for-88) with three homers, 11 RBI, four stolen bases, 14 runs scored and 33 strikeouts in 100 plate appearances. The 27-year-old could draw some interest on waivers from other clubs, but if he goes unclaimed, he'll officially be free to sign with any team. At best, Marlowe will operate as organizational outfield depth if he latches on elsewhere and will likely start 2025 in the minors.
The Seattle Mariners recalled outfielders Jonathan Clase and Cade Marlowe from Triple-A Tacoma on Tuesday. Marlowe is starting in right field for the M's and is hitting ninth against the visiting Los Angeles Angels and right-hander Jose Soriano. Marlowe, a left-handed hitting 27-year-old, made his big-league debut in 2023 and hit .239 (21-for-88) with three homers, three doubles, two triples, 11 homers and four steals in his first 34 games. He hit .235 with 13 homers for Tacoma this year, and he and Clase, the team's No. 10 prospect per MLB Pipeline, could be battling for playing time with Julio Rodriguez (ankle) on the 10-day injured list. Clase, a 22-year-old switch-hitter, has looked overmatched in his MLB debut in 2024, going 8-for-41 (.195) at the plate with no homers, a double, three RBI, three swipes and a 14:2 K:BB in 43 trips to the plate and 19 games played.
Seattle Mariners rookie outfielder Cade Marlowe is taking a day off on Tuesday against the visiting San Diego Padres. With Marlowe on the bench, fellow rookie Dominic Canzone is starting in left field and batting seventh against Padres right-hander Nick Martinez in the series opener. The left-handed-hitting Marlowe will remain interesting in deep-mixed leagues until Jarred Kelenic returns from a broken foot. The 26-year-old has made an impact for the M's in his first 14 major-league contests, going 10-for-36 (.278) with a .381 on-base percentage, two home runs, two doubles, a triple, six RBI, two stolen bases and six runs scored in 42 plate appearances.
Seattle Mariners rookie outfielder Cade Marlowe will start Friday's game against the division-rival Los Angeles Angels on the bench despite hitting a game-winning grand slam for the team on Thursday. The former 20th-round pick in 2019 has been impressive for the Mariners since making his big-league debut on July 20. He's gone 10-for-30 with two home runs, two doubles, a triple, six RBI, two stolen bases and six runs scored in 12 games (nine starts). As a left-handed hitter, he'll take a seat against Angels lefty Reid Detmers. Dylan Moore is starting in left field and is batting eighth in the order. The 26-year-old Marlowe has become interesting in deep-mixed and AL-only leagues, as he should see decent playing time against righties with Jarred Kelenic out with a fractured foot.
Seattle Mariners prospect Cade Marlowe has been promoted to the big leagues from Triple-A Tacoma on Thursday. He will take the roster spot of outfielder Jarred Kelenic who was placed on the 15-day injured list with a left foot fracture. The 26-year-old has appeared in 69 games with Tacoma this season, hitting .255 with 11 home runs, 25 stolen bases, and a .793 OPS across 319 trips to the plate. He fared better at Triple-A in 13 games last season, hitting three homers with six steals and an .869 across a 60 plate-appearance sample. The lefty-swinging outfielder should see a good chunk of time against right-handed pitching in Kelenic's absence and should at least be a solid source of steals for interested fantasy managers.
Seattle Mariners outfield prospect Cade Marlowe had his 17-game hit streak snapped with an 0-for-5 showing for Triple-A Tacoma. He slashed .368/.476/.735 with seven home runs, 16 RBI, 21 runs, 13 stolen bases, and a 0.93 BB/K ratio since the start of his hit streak on June 23. The 26-year-old carries a .255/.332/.461 line on the season with 11 home runs, 47 RBI, 52 runs, and 25 stolen bases in 69 games this season. With impressive speed and a rejuvenated bat, Marlowe could push for a promotion in the upcoming months, making him a stash option in redraft leagues.
Seattle Mariners outfield prospect Cade Marlowe, 25, was selected in the 20th round of the 2019 draft. The left-handed hitter is solid in all facets of the game, though his most noticeable improvements have come at the plate, where he has cut down on strikeouts and continued to develop impressive power. He now has 46 homers over his last 215 games. Marlowe is also a thief on the basepaths, swiping bags with ease. Defensively, he uses his speed, good glovework, and strong arm to his advantage; he should stick in center field long-term, though he might not be an immediate starter once he reaches the majors. Marlowe put on a show this past week, going 12-for-25 (.480) with six homers, 11 RBI, four walks, and two strikeouts. Not only was his power production absolutely phenomenal, but the Tifton, Ga., native also showed impressive discipline. It's not hard to envision a path to fantasy success for Marlowe once he reaches the majors, a benchmark that should come in 2023.
