Charlie Condon Hits Third Home Run of Season, Emerging as Top Hitter to Stash

Colorado Rockies corner infielder/outfielder prospect Charlie Condon went 3-for-6 in his second game back at Triple-A Albuquerque after having a cyst removed, smacking his third home run of the season, and crossing the plate three times. Perhaps just as notable is that it was the first time this season that the right-handed hitter did not strike out in a game. The Rockies' second-ranked prospect is now 10-for-28 (.357) through seven games, and although the strikeouts remain on the high side (27.3 percent), he's hitting well and continuing to draw walks at an above-average rate (12.1 percent). If that trend continues, the former third-overall draft pick should get his call to the majors sooner rather than later. The 6-foot-5 slugger's power will be an asset at Coors Field, and managers looking for some home run and RBI production should consider stashing the 22-year-old in advance of a future call-up.

Can Charlie Condon Reach the Majors Early This Season?

Colorado Rockies infielder/outfielder Charlie Condon (undisclosed) has not played in a game at Triple-A Albuquerque since April 1 after having a cyst removed, but the ailment isn't expected to keep him out of the lineup much longer. So far in five games for the Isotopes, the former third-overall draft pick has three multi-hit efforts, going 7-for-18 (.389) with a double, two home runs, a stolen base, and a 3:7 BB:K. This comes on the heels of a successful showing in the Cactus League, where he hit .385 with three home runs in 39 at-bats and a productive campaign in the Arizona Fall League (AFL), where he batted .337 with a double, two triples, and a home run in 22 games. If the 6-foot-5 slugger can show some improved ability to strikeout less, which he has done in the AFL and during spring training, then he could make the case for an early-season call-up. T.J. Rumfield is performing admirably at first base for Colorado, but Condon could potentially man left field for the underwhelming Jake McCarthy or work as the team's designated hitter. Power-needy managers in deeper leagues could consider stashing the 22-year-old away before his eventual call-up.

Rockies Reassign Charlie Condon to Minor-League Camp

The Colorado Rockies announced on Thursday that they reassigned infielder/outfielder Charlie Condon to minor-league camp. This shouldn't come as much of a surprise, as the expectation all along was that Condon would open the 2026 campaign in the minors, most likely at Double-A. The 22-year-old former third overall pick in 2024 out of the University of Georgia had a strong spring training showing, hitting .389 (14-for-36) with three home runs, nine RBI, six runs scored, four walks, and eight strikeouts in 19 Cactus League games. He hit .268/.376/.444 with an .820 OPS, 14 home runs, 58 RBI, and 59 runs scored in 99 games over three minor-league levels in 2025. The Rockies definitely have some playing time up for grabs at the first base position, which looks to be Condon's long-term home in Colorado. If Condon continues to swing a hot bat down on the farm to begin the 2026 season, he'll most likely be in Denver by the summer. He's an intriguing power-hitting first base option to stash in dynasty/keeper leagues for the time being.

Charlie Condon Unlikely to Make Rockies Opening Day Roster

Top Colorado Rockies first base/outfield prospect Charlie Condon is unlikely to make the team's Opening Day roster, per Patrick Saunders of The Denver Post. The number three overall pick in the 2024 MLB Draft, Condon has absolutely raked so far in 2026 Spring Training action. Across 37 plate appearances in the Cactus League, the 22-year-old is hitting .419/.486/.806 with three home runs, nine RBI, and six runs scored. Condon also posted strong numbers across 433 plate appearances split between High-A and Double-A in 2025, slashing .268/.376/.444 with 14 home runs, 58 RBI, 59 runs scored, and two stolen bases. However, he's yet to reach Triple-A, and there's little incentive for the rebuilding Rockies to force him onto the Major League roster early in 2026. Swing-and-miss is also a potential red flag in Condon's profile, as he struck out in 28.3% of his Double-A plate appearances in 2025. Still, if Condon gets off to a hot start in the Minors, he could make his MLB debut sooner rather than later. He's unquestionably a player worth monitoring for redraft fantasy managers heading into 2026.

Charlie Condon Swinging a Hot Bat in Spring Training

Colorado Rockies corner-infield prospect Charlie Condon has turned heads in Cactus League play this spring, as he entered Thursday with a .414/.471/.828 slash line with a 1.298 OPS, three home runs, three doubles, eight RBI, six runs scored, three walks, and six strikeouts in 34 plate appearances over 15 games played. Condon is the club's No. 2 prospect, per MLB Pipeline, behind only shortstop Ethan Holliday. The 22-year-old former third overall pick in 2024 out of the University of Georgia hit .268/.376/.444 with an .820 OPS, 14 home runs, 58 runs scored, and 59 runs scored while posting a 112:52 K: BB in 433 plate appearances last year across three minor-league levels. He has made some noise this spring as he competes for playing time at first base to begin the 2026 season in Colorado, but Condon is expected to start the year in the minors. Condon has struggled to get to his raw power due to injuries and some swing-and-miss issues, but he's not worth giving up on yet, especially with hitter-friendly Coors Field waiting for him when he gets to the big leagues.

Charlie Condon Enjoying Hot Start to Spring Games

Colorado Rockies first base/outfield prospect Charlie Condon has been among the top hitters throughout the opening week of spring training games. The former third overall selection from the 2024 MLB Draft has gone 6-for-10 with two home runs and a 2:2 K:BB. The 22-year-old is in the mix to claim the starting first base job, and a strong showing in camp opens the door for an early promotion. Last summer, the former Georgia standout spent most of his time with High-A and Double-A. With High-A, Condon posted a .312/.431/.420 line across a 35-game stint. In his first look at Double-A, Condon flashed higher power, launching 11 long balls but held a lower .235/.342/.465 line. While he is likely ticketed for Triple-A to begin the campaign, Condon could remain in the mix for an early-season call-up if he continues this trajectory.

Charlie Condon Invited to Big-League Spring Training

The Colorado Rockies announced on Thursday that they gave first base prospect Charlie Condon a non-roster invitation to 2026 major-league spring training. Condon, the No. 70 overall prospect at MLB Pipeline, will have a shot to win an Opening Day roster spot if he excels in spring training, especially since the Rockies no longer have either Michael Toglia or Warming Bernabel competing at first base. The former third overall pick out of Georgia hit .268/.376/.444 with 14 home runs, 58 RBI, and 59 runs scored in 99 games at the Rookie level, High-A Spokane, and Double-A Hartford last year. Condon played third base and outfield in college, but he is expected to move forward exclusively as a power-hitting first baseman, and he should make his MLB debut at some point in 2026. He may never live up to his draft pedigree, but at hitter-friendly Coors Field, Condon and his 6-foot-6 frame should project for plenty of power at the very least.

Charlie Condon Will Compete for First Base Job

According to Thomas Harding of MLB.com, Colorado Rockies outfield prospect Charlie Condon is expected to compete for the starting first base job during spring training. Condon was selected with the third overall pick by the Rockies in the 2024 MLB Draft. The former Georgia Bulldog came out of college as an outfielder but appears to be in the mix for a role at first base, hoping to get him to the majors sooner. In 2025, Condon split his time between High-A and Double-A and posted an overall .268/.376/.444 line with an .820 OPS. He launched 14 home runs and added 16 doubles with two stolen bases. Condon also turned in a strong showing in the Arizona Fall League. Given that the Rockies do not have a firm answer at the first base position, Condon could make a strong case to start there on Opening Day. He will be competing alongside Troy Johnston and Blaine Crim.

Charlie Condon Headlines Rockies Prospects Headed to AFL

Colorado Rockies first base/outfield prospect Charlie Condon is headed to the Arizona Fall League (AFL) this October as one of eight prospects who will represent the Rockies, playing for the Salt River Rafters squad. The 2024 third-overall draft pick got a late start to the season after suffering a wrist injury in spring training, and earned a promotion to Double-A after slashing .312/.431/.420 in 35 games at High-A. The Rockies' top-ranked prospect's wrist injury appears to be behind him, as the power stroke was abundant at Double-A, hitting 11 home runs and slugging .479 in 53 games. A high 28.9 percent strikeout rate limited his batting average (.240) at that level, but an 11.0 percent walk rate still helped him to a solid .346 on-base percentage. The 6-foot-6 slugger will use the AFL to make up for lost at-bats and hopefully prep him for a likely 2026 major league debut.

Charlie Condon Goes Deep on Sunday

Colorado Rockies first base/outfield prospect Charlie Condon continued to stay hot in the batter's box on Sunday. Facing Double-A Harrisburg, the former third overall pick went 1-for-2 with a home run and a walk. Since the start of the month, Condon has held a strong .288/.422/.500 line with a .922 OPS, three doubles and two home runs. Since joining Double-A Hartford early this season, Condon has held a .244/.352/.420 line with seven doubles and four home runs. However, given is a recent surge, it appears the Georgia product is beginning to take the next steps at this level. Earlier in the campaign, Condon held a dominant .312/.431/.420 line with an .851 OPS through 35 games at High-A. If he continues to turn the corner, he should be in the mix to open the 2026 season at Triple-A.
