Brewers
Left-hander Dallas Keuchel has cleared waivers and has elected free agency after being designated for assignment by the Milwaukee Brewers. The Brewers recently acquired Keuchel in a trade and used him for four spot starts before cutting him last weekend. The former Cy Young winner allowed 10 earned runs on 23 hits (three home runs) while striking out 11 and walking eight in 16 2/3 innings over his four starts for the Brew Crew and now once again finds himself looking for work on the open market. Since 2022, Keuchel has pitched in the big leagues for five different teams and hasn't been effective, recording a 7.59 ERA and 1.90 WHIP with 81 strikeouts and 57 walks in 115 innings pitched. Even if he lands with another team in the second half of the season, at best, he'll be a volatile deep-league streaming option in fantasy.

Dallas Keuchel Designated For Assignment, Joel Kuhnel Promoted
Milwaukee Brewers starting pitcher Dallas Keuchel has been designated for assignment, according to Todd Rosiak of the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel. In a corresponding move, the Brewers promoted right-handed pitcher Joel Kuhnel from Triple-A Nashville. Keuchel posted a poor 5.40 ERA, 1.86 WHIP, and an 8:11 BB:K ratio across his four starts as a Brewer. Kuhnel has operated exclusively out of the bullpen in his minor league career and posted a 2.30 ERA and 1.28 WHIP in Triple-A Nashville earlier this season. Fantasy managers should pay close attention to the Milwaukee rotation after the mid-summer classic, as there is currently an open spot. Joe Ross (back) and Bryse Wilson are candidates to claim the open rotation spot and could be worth a look in deeper leagues.

Dallas Keuchel To Start Wednesday For Brewers
After being acquired by the Milwaukee Brewers in a trade with the Seattle Mariners on Tuesday, veteran left-hander Dallas Keuchel will make the start on Wednesday in the series finale against the visiting Texas Rangers. Keuchel has plenty of big-league experience and even won the American League Cy Young in 2015 with the Houston Astros, but he's bounced around the league since his final season in Houston in 2018 and has pitched in only 24 major-league games (20 starts) with four different teams since the start of 2022. He hasn't been good in that span, either, posting a 7.96 ERA and 1.91 WHIP with 70 strikeouts and 49 walks in 98 1/3 innings. However, Keuchel had a 3.93 ERA and 1.21 WHIP in 71 innings for Triple-A Tacoma over 13 starts this year before the trade. If Keuchel pitches well against Texas on Wednesday, he could stick around in Milwaukee's rotation.

Dallas Keuchel Acquired By Brewers
The Milwaukee Brewers have acquired starting pitcher Dallas Keuchel from the Seattle Mariners in exchange for cash considerations. The veteran southpaw signed a minor league deal with the Mariners in late-May. He currently holds a 3.93 ERA, 1.21 WHIP, and 45/22 K/BB across 13 starts in the minors this season. The 36-year-old might still have a little left in the tank. The expectation is that Keuchel will replace Chris Rodriguez in the starting rotation. This is a nice feel-good story for Keuchel, but he doesn't offer much fantasy appeal at this stage of his career.

Dallas Keuchel Could Be Called Up Soon
If the Seattle Mariners decide to skip young right-hander Emerson Hancock's next turn in the starting rotation and if righty Bryan Woo (elbow) isn't ready to return from the injured list by then, newly signed left-hander Dallas Keuchel could be an option to temporarily replace Hancock. The 12-year-old veteran and former Cy Young winner threw five scoreless innings in his season debut with Triple-A Tacoma on Sunday. Levi Stoudt, Casey Lawrence and Jhonathan Diaz could also be candidates for a spot start for the M's. It would be a cool comeback for Keuchel, 36, but his upside would be limited for fantasy managers and his stay in Seattle's rotation would likely be a short one with either Hancock or Woo replacing him sooner or later.

Dallas Keuchel Signing With Mariners
Former American League Cy Young winner Dallas Keuchel is signing a minor-league deal with the Seattle Mariners on Tuesday. The plan will be for the veteran left-hander to report to Triple-A Tacoma. The 36-year-old southpaw won the Cy Young award all the way back in 2015 with the Houston Astros and hasn't made an All-Star team since 2017. Last year in 10 appearances (six starts) for the Minnesota Twins, Keuchel went 2-1 with a 5.97 ERA (4.56 FIP) and 1.67 WHIP with 18 walks and 25 strikeouts in 37 2/3 innings pitched. There's no guarantee that he'll make it back to the big leagues in Seattle, so fantasy managers in all leagues can probably leave Keuchel to the waiver wire. In his 12 big-league seasons, Keuchel has fanned just 6.9 hitters per nine innings, too, so there will be very little upside if he's making starts for the M's in 2024.

Dallas Keuchel Being Pushed Back To Sunday
The Minnesota Twins are using multiple off days this week to push left-hander Dallas Keuchel's next start in the rotation to this Sunday against the Pittsburgh Pirates. The Twins aren't in a rush to throw Keuchel back out there after he was shellacked to the tune of six earned runs on six hits while walking two and striking out none in just 1 2/3 innings in his last time out on Aug. 11 against the Philadelphia Phillies on the road. Keuchel was much better in his debut with Minnesota on Aug. 6 against the Arizona Diamondbacks, when he gave up just an earned run in five innings of work. The 35-year-old veteran southpaw will be going on eight days of rest in a great matchup this Sunday, but fantasy managers need to keep in mind that he has yet to strike a batter out in his 6 2/3 innings of work.

Dallas Keuchel To Start On Sunday
Minnesota Twins starting pitcher Dallas Keuchel is set to make his season debut against the Arizona Diamondbacks on Sunday. The 35-year-old was recalled after right-hander Joe Ryan (groin) landed on the injured list. Keuchel posted a strong 1.13 ERA, 1.25 WHIP and 28/12 K/BB ratio across six starts in the minors. Possibly, the former CY Young award winner still has something left in the tank. Keuchel could be worth a look in deep leagues and AL-only formats.

Dallas Keuchel Joins Twins Active Roster
The Minnesota Twins selected the contract of left-hander Dallas Keuchel from Triple-A St. Paul on Thursday with right-hander Joe Ryan (groin) going on the 15-day injured list. A blast from the past, Keuchel will be making his first big-league start in 2023 when he gets into a game for the Twins, likely in a starting role to replace Ryan in the rotation. The 35-year-old former American League Cy Young winner in 2015 with the Houston Astros was showing much better results in six starts for St. Paul this year, sporting a 1.13 ERA, 1.25 WHIP, 12 walks and 28 strikeouts in 32 innings. Keuchel isn't going to strike out many hitters and will be volatile, but he might be worth considering as a streamer in AL-only leagues, depending on the matchup.

Dallas Keuchel Signs Minor-League Deal With Twins
The Minnesota Twins are signing free-agent left-hander Dallas Keuchel to a minor-league deal on Thursday. The Twins are throwing a flier out there on Keuchel, who hasn't pitched in the majors since last September with the Texas Rangers. He pitched for the Rangers, Arizona Diamondbacks and Chicago White Sox last year and was not effective at all with a 9.20 ERA (5.52 FIP), 2.06 WHIP and 14.9 percent strikeout rate in 60 2/3 innings over 14 starts. The two-time All-Star has fallen on hard times in the last few seasons after last pitching well for the White Sox in the COVID-shortened 2020 season. The 35-year-old southpaw will need to pitch well in the minors to have any kind of shot at pitching for Minnesota in the second half of 2023. Continue ignoring him in fantasy.
