Everson Pereira Done for the Season With Back Injury

The Tampa Bay Rays announced on Friday that they placed outfielder Everson Pereira (back) on the 10-day injured list with lower-back inflammation and reinstated infielder Jonathan Aranda (wrist) from the 10-day IL in a corresponding move. Pereira recently injured his back and will not be available for the final three games of the 2025 season this weekend in Toronto against the division-rival Blue Jays. The 24-year-old played in just his second major-league season with Tampa this year and appeared in just 23 games, going 9-for-65 (.138) with two home runs, eight RBI, seven runs, and two steals in 73 plate appearances. Pereira made his big-league debut two years ago with the New York Yankees and played in only 27 games, hitting .151 (14-for-93) with no homers, 10 RBI, and four stolen bases.

Everson Pereira Tallies Two Hits in Rays Debut

The Tampa Bay Rays recalled outfielder Everson Pereira from Triple-A Durham on Monday, and he wasted no time making an impact with a double, a single, and a run scored against the Athletics. Acquired from the Yankees at the trade deadline, the 24-year-old needed just eight games at Durham to earn his call-up. Pereira's mix of raw power and athleticism makes him an intriguing dynasty stash, though his strikeout issues could limit short-term fantasy value. If he earns regular playing time in Tampa Bay's outfield, he could quickly emerge as a deeper-league asset down the stretch.

Everson Pereira Goes Deep Twice On Thursday

New York Yankees outfield prospect Everson Pereira went 2-for-5 with two home runs during their contest against Triple-A Syracuse on Thursday. This was Pereira's second-straight game tallying multiple hits. Over his last seven games, the No. 14-ranked prospect in the Yankee system has held a .333/.400/.778 slash line with four round-trippers. Through his first 18 games of the Triple-A regular season, Pereira has posted a solid .284/.355/.522 slash line with one double, five home runs, and two stolen bases. Last summer, Pereira held a similar .265/.364/.512 line across 40 games at the Triple-A level. Pereira made his MLB debut in the 2023 season and could be in the mix to return to the Bronx later this summer if he continues this steady production.

Everson Pereira Optioned To Triple-A On Tuesday

The New York Yankees optioned outfield prospect Everson Pereira to Triple-A Scranton/Wilkes-Barre on Tuesday despite having a strong showing this spring. Through eight Grapefruit League games, the Yankees' 14th-overall prospect was 6-for-17 (.353) with a pair of home runs, but there is no spot for him in the outfield at the moment, although he had been working as New York's designated hitter as he works his way back from UCL surgery that he underwent last year. As a result, the 23-year-old will fully recover and get regular at-bats with the Triple-A affiliate. There is a high probability we'll see him in the majors this season, but he struggled in his 2023 debut, slashing just .151/.233/.194 with no home runs in 103 plate appearances. After hitting 20 home runs in 2021 as a 20-year-old in only 49 games and another 18 in just 81 games in 2023, the right-handed hitter clearly has some pop, but the 23-year-old still strikes out too much, logging a 32.4 percent K% last season at Triple-A and 33.3 percent this spring. Power-needy managers might give him a shot when he gets the call again, though, and next time, hopefully he'll stick.

Everson Pereira Limited To DH Duties

MLB.com's Bryan Hoch reports that New York Yankees outfielder Everson Pereira (elbow) will be limited to designated-hitter duties until mid-March as he continues his rehab from an internal-brace procedure on his right elbow last June. However, manager Aaron Boone said he could see Pereira "very much in the mix" for a roster spot out of spring training. The Yankees are slow-playing the 23-year-old at spring training, but it doesn't mean that he won't be on the Opening Day roster if he performs well in Grapefruit League action. The Venezuelan outfielder didn't play in the majors at all last year and went 14-for-93 (.151) with no homers, 10 RBI, four steals and 40 strikeouts in 103 plate appearances in 27 games in his MLB debut late in 2023. Before getting injured in 2024, Pereira's strikeout rate in the minors was headed in the wrong direction. For now, he's just one to monitor in most fantasy leagues.

Everson Pereira Healthy Heading Into Spring Training

New York Yankees manager Aaron Boone said on WFAN 660 on Tuesday that young outfielder Everson Pereira (elbow) is healthy this offseason and could factor into the club's outfield mix in 2025. Pereira will be competing for a Opening Day roster spot this spring despite undergoing an internal-brace surgery on his right elbow last June. If the 23-year-old impresses in spring training and opens the 2025 regular season with the Yankees, he'd likely operate in a reserve role off the bench. The Venezuelan outfielder made his big-league debut in the Bronx in 2024 but only played in 27 games, going 14-for-93 (.151) with no home runs, 10 RBI, four steals, six runs scored and 40 strikeouts in 103 plate appearances. With plenty to work on still, it wouldn't be a surprise to see Pereira open the year at Triple-A Scranton/Wilkes-Barre for more minor-league seasoning.

Everson Pereira Launches Two Home Runs On Thursday

New York Yankees outfield prospect Everson Pereira launched two home runs on three hits on Thursday night, which powered Triple-A Scranton to their 12th victory of the season. Pereira is riding a .255/.359/.618 line with six total long balls this season. The 23-year-old got a small taste of the majors in 2023 and should receive another call-up later in the summer. With top prospect Jasson Dominguez injured (elbow) and Spencer Jones still in Double-A, Pereira could be the first name from the Yankee system promoted this season and is worth holding onto in dynasty and keeper leagues.

Everson Pereira Remains Out Of Thursday’s Lineup

New York Yankees outfielder Everson Pereira (hamstring) remains absent from Thursday's lineup for the series finale versus the Toronto Blue Jays. The 22-year-old hasn't been seen in the lineup since last Thursday's doubleheader against the Boston Red Sox due to a low-grade hamstring strain. Pereira sustained the injury during that series when he slipped on the wet dugout steps at Fenway Park. The No. 3 Yankees prospect is unfortunately losing out on some valuable opportunity in center field in wake of Jasson Dominguez's (elbow) UCL surgery. In the meantime, Estevan Florial patrols center and hits seventh against right-hander Jose Berrios on Thursday.

Everson Pereira Still Sidelined

New York Yankees rookie outfielder Everson Pereira (hamstring) is set to miss yet another game on Tuesday against the visiting Toronto Blue Jays. In his absence, Oswaldo Cabrera is making another start in left field and will be in the nine-hole against Blue Jays left-hander Yusei Kikuchi. Pereira, one of the team's top prospects, made his MLB debut on Aug. 22 but hasn't played since Sept. 14 because of his hamstring injury, and manager Aaron Boone acknowledged that the injury could send the youngster to the injured list. With just under two weeks left in the 2023 season, Pereira may have played his last game this year. The 22-year-old Venezuelan has also struggled in his first 70 big-league at-bats, going 10-for-70 (.143) with no homers, seven RBI, four steals and six runs scored.

Everson Pereira Could Go On Injured List

New York Yankees manager Aaron Boone said that rookie outfielder Everson Pereira (hamstring) is dealing with a hamstring injury that could land him on the 10-day injured list. Pereira, the team's No. 3 prospect per MLB Pipeline, has also struggled in his first 21 major-league games, going 10-for-70 (.143) with no homers, three doubles, seven RBI, four stolen bases, 31 strikeouts and six runs scored. An injured-list stint would probably mean the end of Pereira's 2023 season with just under two weeks left for the Yankees. The 22-year-old hasn't played in a game since last Thursday, opening up more playing time in New York's outfielder for Oswaldo Cabrera.
