Hunter Gaddis Starting Rehab Assignment on Saturday

Cleveland Guardians right-handed reliever Hunter Gaddis (forearm) is starting his minor-league rehab assignment on Saturday with Triple-A Columbus, according to Arthur Kinney of Next Year in Cleveland. Gaddis landed on the 15-day injured list to begin the 2026 season with right-forearm tightness. It's not a serious injury, so Gaddis could be ready to come off the IL when eligible in early April after a couple of rehab outings on the farm. When healthy, the 27-year-old figures to be a high-leverage setup man for Cleveland in front of closer Cade Smith at the back of the bullpen. The former fifth-round pick in 2019 out of Georgia State had a sharp 1.57 ERA in 2024 and posted a 3.11 ERA, 1.18 WHIP, his first three career saves, a career-high 73 strikeouts, and 21 walks in 66 2/3 relief innings in 2025. Gaddis is a solid source of holds for the Guards when he's healthy.

Hunter Gaddis "Highly Likely" to Start Season on the Injured List

Cleveland Guardians right-hander Hunter Gaddis (forearm) is "highly likely" to begin the 2026 regular season on the injured list, according to Zack Meisel of MLB.com. Despite being cleared to throw live batting practice in camp earlier this week, the 27-year-old probably isn't going to be ready for Opening Day next week after he began feeling forearm tightness in early March. When healthy, Gaddis has earned high-leverage opportunities at the back end of Cleveland's new-look bullpen. He had a 1.57 ERA and 0.76 WHIP with 66 strikeouts and 14 walks in 74 2/3 innings in 2024 and posted a 3.11 ERA, 1.18 WHIP, his first three career saves, and a career-high 73 punchouts in 66 2/3 innings of work out of the bullpen in 2025. Gaddis finished third with 34 holds in 2024 and second last year with 35. When he's past his forearm injury, he'll absolutely be in play in holds leagues again this year as a reliable setup man in front of closer Cade Smith.

Hunter Gaddis Throws a Bullpen Session on Thursday

Cleveland Guardians relief pitcher Hunter Gaddis (forearm) threw a 15-pitch bullpen session on Thursday as he recovers from right forearm tightness. Gaddis hasn't appeared in a spring training game since February 27, and it's unclear whether he'll be able to face opposing batters again before Cactus League action concludes. The Guardians will certainly be smart with his recovery, especially since Gaddis is a pivotal part of their bullpen. He tossed 66.2 innings last year, amassing a 3.50 FIP with 9.86 K/9 and 2.84 BB/9. We could even see him pick up some more saves this season with Emmanuel Clase and Luis Ortiz on non-disciplinary leave, but for now, the primary closer role belongs to Cade Smith. At the moment, Gaddis lacks fantasy appeal, slotting in as the #83 reliever in RotoBaller's latest rankings.

Hunter Gaddis Dealing With Forearm Tightness

Cleveland Guardians relief pitcher Hunter Gaddis (forearm) made his spring debut this past Friday, striking out two while allowing no hits or walks in the one-inning outing. However, the right-hander experienced mild forearm tightness following the appearance. According to manager Stephen Vogt, the 27-year-old went for imaging that "came back clean," and will be reevaluated on Thursday before being built back up. Sounds like a minor injury, and it doesn't appear to put his status for Opening Day in doubt for now. The 6-foot-6 hurler had a strong season for the Guardians in 2025, striking out 73 batters in 66 2/3 innings of work on his way to a 3.11 ERA, 1.19 WHIP, and the second-most holds in all of baseball with 35. For fantasy managers looking for some ratio help, Gaddis could be a worthwhile roster addition, especially in the event something were to happen to the Guardians' closer, Cade Smith, as Gaddis could potentially be the one to step into that role.

Hunter Gaddis Back From Bereavement List

The Cleveland Guardians announced on Tuesday that they activated right-hander Hunter Gaddis from the bereavement list and optioned left-hander Joey Cantillo to Triple-A Columbus in a corresponding move. Gaddis will be available for Game 2 of the series in Cleveland against the visiting Los Angeles Dodgers after being away from the team for a few days for personal reasons. The 27-year-old former fifth-rounder in 2019 out of Georgia State doesn't have any saves but has been a key reliever for the Guardians, posting a stingy 0.86 ERA and 1.14 WHIP with 29 strikeouts and eight walks in 21 innings out of the bullpen in his fourth year in the big leagues. He's also recorded 13 holds, so fantasy managers in need of a bullpen arm that has been very effectively should look Gaddis' way. He had a 1.57 ERA and 0.76 WHIP last year with a career-high 66 K's in 74 2/3 innings.

Hunter Gaddis Throws Six Shutout Innings Monday

Cleveland Guardians right-hander Hunter Gaddis tossed six innings of shutout ball while allowing two hits, striking out four, and walking one in a 3-0 win over the Chicago White Sox on Monday. Gaddis was recalled from Triple-A earlier in the day for a spot start and looked good in the outing after struggling on the mound earlier in the season. Gaddis now has a 1-1 record, 5.26 ERA, 1.21 WHIP, and 17 strikeouts over 25 2/3 innings of work on the year.

Hunter Gaddis Scheduled To Start Monday

Cleveland Guardians right-hander Hunter Gaddis was recalled from Triple-A Columbus and is scheduled to start on Monday against the Chicago White Sox. Given Gaddis' performances in Cleveland's starting rotation so far this year, fantasy managers will want to avoid him to kick off the week against the division rivals. The 25-year-old has pitched in five games (four starts) for the Guardians and has a 6.86 ERA (3.85 FIP), 1.42 WHIP, six walks and 13 strikeouts in 19 2/3 innings pitched. He's also not worth spending much on as a waiver-wire pickup, as he could be sent back to the minors after Monday's start. Both Triston McKenzie (shoulder) and Aaron Civale (oblique) are getting close to rejoining the team.

Hunter Gaddis Gets The Starting Nod Wednesday

Cleveland Guardians starting pitcher Hunter Gaddis will start Wednesday's contest against the Oakland A's. It was a tough season opener for the right-hander in Seattle as he yielded four earned runs on five hits and a walk across just 3 2/3 innings of work. He struck out four in the outing and did not factor into the decision. When factoring in his two starts with the Guardians from last season, Gaddis now owns a 15.55 ERA across his first three MLB starts but fared much better at Triple-A last season where he hurled a 3.60 ERA and a 30.9% K% across nine starts. His second matchup of the season against a weak A's offense presents a far greater opportunity than his first in Seattle.

Hunter Gaddis Expected To Enter Rotation

With Cleveland Guardians starter Triston McKenzie (shoulder, triceps) starting the year on the injured list, Hunter Gaddis, who is currently stretched out to 70 pitches, is the most likely candidate to take McKenzie's spot in the starting rotation. The Guardians could also choose to start Zach Plesac through the first turn, as he's currently scheduled to pitch in a minor-league game on Wednesday. Relievers Xzavion Curry and Michael Kelly are options to be added to the bullpen if Gaddis joins the rotation in Cleveland. Gaddis, 24, looked good this spring, but he probably won't go very deep into his starts early in the season and will be a pretty shaky streaming option in deep leagues and DFS. In his first 7 1/3 major-league innings in 2022, Gaddis allowed 15 hits and 15 earned runs.
