Jace Jung News
Detroit Tigers second base prospect Jace Jung went 2-for-5 with three RBI for Triple-A Toledo on Sunday. Jung's homer was his third in nine games. Jung is the younger brother of Josh Jung and supplies power just like his big brother. Jung's biggest issue in professional career has been plate discipline, but the power is there for the 2022 first-round pick. The Tigers went with fellow second base prospect Colt Keith to make the Opening Day roster and it is possible the Jung will have to switch positions to get promoted quicker. For now, he should be rostered in dynasty formats with managers in redraft leagues keeping a tab on him.
Since being promoted to Double-A Erie on July 25, Detroit Tigers second base prospect Jace Jung has performed well. In that time, Jung, 22, has hit .259 with three homers, seven RBI and a .259 batting average over 27 at-bats. Two of his homers came on Monday in a big performance. Jung is a consensus Top-100 prospect and one of the top prospects at the keystone position. The brother of Josh Jung, Jace has good power his bat and has shown a good understanding of the strike zone with his strong plate discipline. Jung's recent promotion has him going up the ranks of the Tigers system and although he's a name that redraft managers can avoid, dynasty managers should consider adding the talented second baseman with his potential to be promoted in the next year or two.
Detroit Tigers prospect Jace Jung launched his 14th home run of the season on Sunday, extending his on-base streak to 22 games in the process. The 22-year-old is now slashing .254/.377/.465 through 81 games with High-A West Michigan. Jung is the second-ranked prospect in Detroit's farm system and the No. 58 prospect in baseball, per MLB Pipeline. A below-average defender at second base, Jung may be asked to transition to a different position at some point down the road. Regardless, he can hit for both power and average, complementing his 55-grade hit tool with a 55-grade power rating, so Jung will get playing time as long as his offense continues to develop. There's nothing actionable for fantasy managers yet, with Jung at least a season or two away from a major-league debut.
