Sam Aldegheri to Start for Angels on Tuesday

Los Angeles Angels left-hander Sam Aldegheri will start on Tuesday against the Kansas City Royals, according to Jeff Fletcher of the Orange County Register. It'll be the first start this season for Aldegheri, who last pitched for the Angels on July 8. The 24-year-old has made two appearances in the majors in 2025 and yielded five earned runs on seven hits and five walks (four strikeouts) in 4 1/3 innings. Aledgheri has been far more successful at Triple-A Salt Lake, where he has recorded a 3.78 ERA with a 1.36 WHIP, 113 strikeouts, and 60 walks across 24 starts and 133 1/3 frames. He'll face a Kansas City offense that has managed a lackluster .232/.300/.349 line versus southpaws this year.

Sam Aldegheri Strikes Out Six on Tuesday

Los Angeles Angels left-handed pitching prospect Sam Aldegheri struck out six hitters across six innings on Tuesday evening, facing Double-A Binghamton. This was his second-straight start in which he tossed six shutout innings. Since the start of the month (23 innings), Aldegheri has been very productive on the bump, posting an elite 0.76 ERA with a 1.26 WHIP. During this stretch, Aldegheri has struck out 19 hitters but has allowed 10 walks. Earlier this season, the southpaw was in his second taste of the majors but allowed seven runs (five earned) across 4 1/3 innings of work. During the 2024 season, Aldegheri made his MLB debut and held a 4.85 ERA through 13 innings. Given his recent stretch, Aldegheri could be bumped up to Triple-A in the near future.

Sam Aldegheri Joins Big-League Club

The Los Angeles Angels announced on Monday that they recalled left-handed pitching prospect Sam Aldegheri from Double-A Rocket City. Aldegheri, the team's No. 5 prospect per MLB Pipeline, will make his return to the big leagues after debuting in 2024. The 23-year-old southpaw only made three starts for the Halos last year and allowed 12 runs (seven earned) on 15 hits (two homers allowed) while walking 10 and striking out 10 in 13 innings of work. The Italian hurler gets the call after going 2-2 with a 4.34 ERA, 1.45 WHIP and 48:27 K:BB in 47 2/3 innings over his nine starts at Rocket City this year. The 6-foot-1, 210-pounder has an intriguing four-pitch mix and has the ability to generate plenty of swings and misses, but he'll need to show much better control of his arsenal to have sustained success in the big leagues. It's unclear what role Aldegheri will have with the Angels now that he's back in the big leagues.

Sam Aldegheri Strikes Out Seven on Wednesday

Los Angeles Angels left-handed pitching prospect Sam Aldegheri tossed 4 2/3 innings of one-run ball (unearned run) and did not allow a hit during his contest against Double-A Biloxi on Wednesday. In this outing, Aldegheri struck out seven and served up two free passes. This was a much-needed bounce-back outing for the southpaw, as he allowed 13 runs over his last 15 2/3 innings of work (three starts). During this stretch, Aldegheri struck out 12 batters but allowed a hefty 11 walks. Last summer, Aldegheri made his MLB debut and tossed 13 innings to the tune of a 4.85 ERA with a 1.92 WHIP. Aldegheri will likely need to move up to Triple-A before getting the call to Los Angeles. However, he was able to skip Triple-A last season before making his MLB debut.

Sam Aldegheri Strikes Out Season-High Eight Batters

Los Angeles Angels left-handed pitching prospect Sam Aldegheri tossed seven shutout innings during Thursday's start against Double-A Knoxville. He allowed just five hits and three walks. He struck out a season-best eight batters. This was a nice bounce-back outing for Aldegheri as he allowed five runs and six hits in his previous start. Through 21 1/3 innings of work with Double-A this summer, Aldegheri has posted a modest 3.37 ERA with a 1.36 WHIP. He has struck out 24 batters but showed weak command of his pitches as he has served up 12 walks. Fantasy managers should expect Aldegheri to push for a Triple-A promotion in the coming weeks if he can build off Thursday's start. He made his MLB debut in 2024 and logged 13 innings to the tune of a 4.85 ERA.

Samuel Aldegheri Being Called Up, Will Start On Friday

The Los Angeles Angels are calling up left-handed pitching prospect Samuel Aldegheri from Double-A Rocket City, according to sources. The 22-year-old southpaw will be the first pitcher born and raised in Italy to play in the major leagues, and he is expected to make his big-league debut on Friday against the division-rival Seattle Mariners. The Angels acquired Aldegheri from the Philadelphia Phillies at the trade deadline at the end of July in the deal that sent reliever Carlos Estevez to the Phils. Aldegheri is the team's No. 8 prospect, per MLB Pipeline. The 6-foot-1, 180-pounder has made only six starts at the Double-A levels of the Angels and Phillies, but he has fanned 134 hitters while walking 41 in 95 1/3 innings over 19 total starts in the minors in 2024. He's primarily a fastball-slider pitcher that could stick in the Angels' rotation beyond his start on Friday. Aldegheri will be a pretty risky streamer in his debut.

Phillies Promote Samuel Aldegheri To Double-A

After a strong first half for High-A Jersey Shore, Philadelphia Phillies pitching prospect Samuel Aldegheri has been promoted to Double-A Reading. Per MLB Pipeline, the left-hander is the No. 23 prospect in the club's system. Aldegheri has had a true breakout campaign this season, with a career low 1.06 WHIP to go along with a respectable 3.18 ERA and 95 strikeouts over 68 innings in 13 starts. It is a much-deserved promotion for the Italian-born prospect that has had everything clicking for him thus far in 2024. Aldegheri is still a few seasons away from the big leagues, pending he continues on the right track, but he has become an intriguing arm in the Phillies system and managers should consider keeping an eye on him as he moves up the ladder.

Samuel Aldegheri Strikes Out Nine In Second Consecutive Start

Philadelphia Phillies starting pitching prospect Samuel Aldegheri tossed five innings of two-run ball with five hits, two walks, and nine punchouts. Aldegheri struck out nine in his previous start as well on June 13, where he tossed six shutout frames and allowed just two hits and two walks. Through his first extended look at High-A ball the 22-year-old southpaw has struck out an eye-catching 83 batters in just 59 innings. He currently sits with a 2.75 ERA and 0.97 WHIP. This is a great sign, as he posted a 3.86 ERA and 1.32 WHIP in 67 innings at Single-A last summer. Aldegheri is a name to keep a close eye on in dynasty leagues, as he is showcasing elite strikeout potential.
