Trevor Megill Battling Side/Oblique Tightness

Milwaukee Brewers relief pitcher Trevor Megill (side/oblique) is dealing with side/oblique tightness, per Todd Rosiak of the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel. Megill was unavailable for Milwaukee's game on Monday, but Rosiak reports that he should be available to pitch on Tuesday against the Athletics. Across 23 innings (24 games) this season, the 32-year-old has pitched to a 4.70 ERA and 1.13 WHIP with 29 strikeouts and eight saves. Milwaukee has utilized both Megill and right-hander Abner Uribe in the closer role in 2026, but Megill has appeared in the ninth inning or later in six straight appearances and looked to be the team's preferred option for saves before the injury. It seems as though Megill has avoided a major injury, but his health status is still worth monitoring for fantasy managers until he's fully in the clear.

Trevor Megill was Unavailable on Monday Due to "Discomfort"

Milwaukee Brewers right-handed closer Trevor Megill (undisclosed) was battling some "discomfort" and was unavailable to close the door in Monday night's wild 15-14, 12-inning win over the Athletics in Las Vegas, manager Pat Murphy told Adam McCalvy of MLB.com. Right-hander Chad Patrick picked up his third save of the year in a scoreless inning of work while walking one and striking out two. Abner Uribe earned his fourth win of the year by pitching 1 1/3 scoreless innings with a walk and two strikeouts, and he would be Milwaukee's primary option for saves in the future if Megill's injury turns into something serious that keeps him out beyond Monday. The 25-year-old Uribe is 4-2 on the season with a 3.80 ERA, 1.22 WHIP, five saves, and 25 strikeouts in his 23 2/3 innings of work. He's rostered in 58% of Yahoo leagues already. It's worth noting that Megill dealt with a flexor strain in his right arm late last year and required a platelet-rich plasma injection in the offseason. Fantasy managers speculating on saves may want to add Uribe now.

Trevor Megill Tallies Eighth Save for Brewers, Fully in Control of Ninth-Inning Job?

Milwaukee Brewers right-hander Trevor Megill locked up three saves last week, two of which came in the Brewers' most recent series in Houston over the weekend. On the season, Megill now owns a 4.29 ERA (2.87 xERA) and 1.05 WHIP with 27 strikeouts in 21 innings pitched. He has also converted on eight of his nine save opportunities, and has demonstrated solid control with a 7.1 percent walk rate. While there has been a lot of hype around Abner Uribe, who has pretty electric stuff, Uribe has not showcased as much consistency and control as Megill, leading Brewers manager Pat Murphy to side with the 32-year-old veteran more often than the young 25-year-old Uribe. While it's possible Uribe will still snipe a couple of saves from Megill throughout the season, Megill appears to be the guy to own out of the two, and although Megill may not finish as a top 10 closer because of that, he is still a reliever that should be viewed as one of the more efficient closers in the game when given the chances. Additionally, Uribe has not recorded a save since May 19 against the Cubs.

Trevor Megill Earns Another Save for Brewers, Emerging as Must-Start Closer Again?

Milwaukee Brewers right-hander Trevor Megill picked up his seventh save of the season on Friday, securing his second save in as many appearances. The veteran reliever appears to be turning a corner after a rocky April, posting a 2.00 ERA during May while reestablishing himself as Milwaukee's preferred ninth-inning option. Megill owns a 4.50 ERA on the season and has recorded 25 strikeouts in 20 innings and continues to lead the club in saves. Abner Uribe remains in the mix for occasional save chances, although Megill has handled the majority of the recent opportunities. With the Brewers continuing to pile up wins, fantasy managers should not overly concerned about a lack of save chances. Megill is trending in the right direction entering June and remains an elite source of saves.

Trevor Megill Earns Save on Wednesday, Can He Fully Reclaim Ninth-Inning Job?

Milwaukee Brewers relief pitcher Trevor Megill secured his team's 2-1 win on Wednesday, allowing just an infield hit to Masyn Winn. Winn stole second and advanced to third base on a sacrifice fly, but Megill struck out pinch-hitter Yohel Pozo to end the game. Megill earned his sixth save of the year and has not allowed a run in his last four outings. On the season, he has a 4.74 ERA but only a 1.75 FIP. He should be due for some positive ERA regression, according to his advanced metrics, and could step back in as the primary closer for the Brewers, especially with Abner Uribe drawing criticism for his on-field celebrations. Both pitchers will remain critically important to the Brew Crew, but Megill may have a slight advantage in save chances going forward. If he's on the waiver wire and you need saves, he's a nice addition in most formats.

Trevor Megill Earns Save for Brewers, Seeing Fantasy Value Bounce Back

Milwaukee Brewers right-hander Trevor Megill picked up his fifth save of the season on Friday, pitching a scoreless ninth inning with a strikeout in his team's 3-2 win over the Minnesota Twins. Megill has struggled overall in 2026, pitching to a 5.63 ERA and 1.25 WHIP with 20 strikeouts across 16 innings. He appeared to have fallen out of the closer mix in Milwaukee, as Friday marked his first time appearing in the ninth inning of a game since April 17. However, fellow Brewers high-leverage reliever Abner Uribe has had some issues of his own this season, including allowing three earned runs and blowing a save opportunity against the San Diego Padres on Wednesday. On Friday, Uribe worked the eighth inning ahead of Megill. While Megill may not yet be back to working exclusively in the ninth inning, he's now allowed just two earned runs while recording 15 strikeouts over his last 11 appearances. In leagues where he may have been dropped, Megill could be worth targeting on the waiver wire.

Is It Time for Fantasy Managers to Drop Trevor Megill?

Milwaukee Brewers right-hander Trevor Megill was a top-line closer in 2025, pitching to a 2.49 ERA with 30 saves and 60 strikeouts across 47 innings. However, the 32-year-old has not been able to repeat his success so far in 2026, as he owns a 6.00 ERA and a 1.33 WHIP with 19 strikeouts across 15 innings. Megill's average fastball velocity is down from 99.1 miles per hour to 97.6 miles per hour, and his strikeout rate has dipped from 31.3% to 28.4%. While Megill has four saves on the season, he has not recorded one since April 17. Megill's 3.69 xERA suggests he's run into some bad luck so far in 2026, so he could work his way back into the ninth-inning role in Milwaukee over the course of the season. However, he appears to be out of the running for saves in the short term, which means he's no longer a must-roster pitcher for fantasy managers.

Trevor Megill Pitches in Seventh Inning, Trending in Wrong Direction for Saves?

Milwaukee Brewers relief pitcher Trevor Megill could be trending in the wrong direction as a saves candidate. The right-hander has four saves on the season, but isn't always tasked with pitching in the final frame. On Thursday, Megill came into the game in the seventh inning and picked up his third hold of the year. He tossed a clean inning, but Angel Zerpa coughed up the lead in the next inning. The scoreless inning from Megill is positive, but that doesn't erase his 9.00 ERA through eight innings in 2026. Abner Uribe appears to be the player the Brewers plan to lean on in the ninth inning right now. Megill isn't a must-roster player until he can fully claim the ninth-inning role.

Trevor Megill Used in Eighth-Inning Role on Thursday

Milwaukee Brewers relief pitcher Trevor Megill appears to have lost the closer role for now. Ahead of Thursday's game, Megill had allowed seven earned runs over his last two outings. The Brewers decided to have Megill pitch in the eighth inning of Thursday's game. The right-hander tossed a scoreless frame with two strikeouts. Milwaukee handed the ball to left-hander Angel Zerpa with a one-run lead in the ninth inning. The southpaw gave up one hit but was able to close the door for his second save of the season. Megill could earn his way back into the full-time closer role, but for now, Zerpa and Abner Uribe should be in the mix as well.

Trevor Megill to be Removed From Closer's Role?

Milwaukee Brewers manager Pat Murphy admitted on Wednesday that he could be considering a change at closer going into the game against the visiting Toronto Blue Jays, according to Brewers reporter Sophia Minnaert. "This isn't about who deserves it. This is about who's appropriate to win the game tonight. So it might be (Trevor) Megill, it might be something different. And quite frankly, it was that way last night," Murphy said. Megill allowed three runs on Tuesday night to blow the save against Toronto, and he's allowed eight earned runs on eight hits while walking four and striking out five in his first five innings pitched in 2026. Megill recorded 51 saves for the Brewers in 2024 and 2025 combined, but they might be about to go in another direction in the ninth inning. Right-hander Abner Uribe would be the obvious candidate for save chances going forward, making him a speculative waiver-wire addition for those scrounging for saves in fantasy.
