Rams, Alaric Jackson Agree To Three-Year Extension

The Los Angeles Rams and left tackle Alaric Jackson agreed to a three-year, $57 million extension that includes $35 million guaranteed on Thursday, sources tell FOX Sports' Jordan Schultz. Jackson will now remain in L.A. to protect the blind side of veteran quarterback Matthew Stafford, who will also stay with the team after agreeing to a restructured deal. If he had reached free agency, Jackson would have been one of the top left tackles available on the market this offseason. It's a big day for the Rams' offense after they narrowly missed a shot at playing in the NFL Championship in 2024. The 26-year-old went undrafted out of the University of Iowa but eventually latched on with the Rams and made his NFL debut in 2021. He played in only 12 games his first two seasons but has started 29 games in L.A. the last two years.

Rams Unlikely To Use Franchise Tag On Alaric Jackson

ESPN's Sarah Barshop believes it's unlikely that the Los Angeles Rams will use the franchise tag at a projected cost of $25.1 million in 2025 on left tackle Alaric Jackson, who will be a free agent in March. The Rams will have several different avenues that they can go this offseason as they look to address multiple positions on their offensive line, one of which includes searching for a new tackle in April's draft. L.A. could also end up re-signing Jackson if he hits the open market when the new league year begins. The 26-year-old went undrafted out of college at Iowa but latched on with the Rams and made his NFL debut back in 2021. Jackson became the Rams' starting left tackle in 2023 and started all 29 of the games he appeared in the last two seasons. He's on the rise but isn't guaranteed to be back with the Rams in 2025.

Alaric Jackson In, Justin Dedich Out On Sunday

According to the team, Los Angeles Rams offensive tackle Alaric Jackson (chest) is active, and offensive guard Justin Dedich (illness) is inactive for Sunday's playoff game against the Philadelphia Eagles. Jackson sustained this injury during last weekend's wild-card victory over the Vikings. He missed practice twice this week but was able to turn the corner. He should return to his typical role as the starting left tackle. Dedich popped up on the injury report on Friday but could not turn the corner in time to suit up.

Alaric Jackson Questionable But Expected To Play

Per ESPN's Sarah Barshop, Los Angeles Rams offensive lineman Alaric Jackson (chest) is deemed questionable for Sunday's matchup with the Philadelphia Eagles but is expected to play. Jackson picked up the injury in last weekend's 27-9 Wild Card win over the Minnesota Vikings but played 100% of the team's snaps. It was an interesting week of practice for the 26-year-old, who kicked it off tagged with a DNP and would be elevated to a full session the next day. However, he'd be downgraded again to a non-participant on Friday before bolstering a Q tag heading into the weekend. The former undrafted free agent was the Rams' leading snap-getter at tackle this season and ranked third amongst all LA offensive linemen in snap percentage played. If he's unavailable, teammates Joe Noteboom and Warren McClendon Jr. project to pick up more snaps.

Alaric Jackson Suspended For First Two Games

Los Angeles Rams offensive lineman Alaric Jackson has been suspended without pay for the first two games of the 2024 season for violating the NFL's personal-conduct policy. He will be eligible to return on September 16, following the Rams' Week 2 game against the Arizona Cardinals. The Rams' offensive line is already facing challenges, with left guard Jonah Jackson (bruised scapula) missing most of training camp and right tackle Rob Havenstein (ankle) injured. Joe Noteboom is expected to fill in for Jackson during his suspension. Noteboom, who signed a three-year, $40 million extension to return to the Rams in 2022, was previously beaten out for the starting left tackle position by Jackson. Jackson, who started 15 games and a playoff game at left tackle last season, has been the Rams' primary left tackle for most of the past two seasons since Andrew Whitworth's retirement, though he missed half of the 2022 season with blood clots. He rejoined the Rams on a one-year contract this season after signing his restricted free agent tender for $4.89 million and is set to become a free agent after this season. The ongoing issues with the Rams' offensive line could be a red flag for those considering drafting Rams players early in fantasy drafts.

Rams Place Second-Round Tender On Alaric Jackson

The Los Angeles Rams placed a second-round tender, which is worth $4.89 million, on restricted free-agent left tackle Alaric Jackson on Tuesday. Jackson is still free to negotiate with any teams. If the Rams do not match a contract offer from another team for Jackson, they would be entitled to a second-round pick from his new team. It essentially means that the 6-foot-7, 285-pounder will stay in LA in 2024. The 25-year-old started 15 games at left tackle and helped the Rams offensive line allow the seventh-lowest sack rate (5.5%) in 2023. Jackson only allowed one sack all season, which was the best among tackles who played 500-plus offensive snaps. The Rams will most likely retain Jackson and also added guards Kevin Dotson and Jonah Jackson in free agency as they prioritize stabilizing their O-line heading into next season.

Left Tackle Alaric Jackson Out For Rams On Sunday

Los Angeles Rams left tackle Alaric Jackson (thigh) will be inactive in Week 17 against the New York Giants due to what the team is calling a personal reason. Jackson was added to the injury report on Friday as questionable with a thigh issue, but at that time they expected that he would play on Sunday. Meanwhile, Joe Noteboom (foot) is active despite coming into this contest with a questionable tag, and he will likely start at left tackle on quarterback Matthew Stafford's blind side with Jackson being out. The 28-year-old Noteboom has started seven of the 13 games he's played in for the Rams in his sixth year with the team. Jackson's absence on the left side of LA's offensive line will be something to watch on Sunday.
