Myles Garrett News
Cleveland Browns pass-rusher Myles Garrett was named the 2023 NFL Defensive Player of the Year on Thursday after a dominant campaign. Garrett was an anchor for the Browns' strong defense last season. The 28-year-old All-Pro finished with 42 tackles (33 solo), 14 sacks, 17 tackles for loss, 30 QB hits, four forced fumbles and a fumble recovery in 16 regular season contests. It was his sixth straight season with double-digit sacks and his third straight season with at least 14 sacks. Garrett hasn't shown any signs of slowing down and should once again be one of the most feared pass-rushers in the league in 2024. He'll also be one of the first defensive linemen off the board in IDP fantasy drafts.
Cleveland Browns All-Pro edge rusher Myles Garrett (hamstring, shoulder) is officially inactive in Week 18 of the regular season against the Cincinnati Bengals. Also out for the Browns defense are cornerbacks Mike Ford (calf) and Greg Newsome II (knee) and safety Juan Thornhill. The Browns are locked into the No. 5 seed for the AFC in the playoffs, so they are resting a handful of notable players on both sides of the ball. Garrett is the biggest name that won't be active in the regular season finale for the Browns, which will make life much easier on Bengals quarterback Jake Browning and Cincy's offense as they look to finish their season up with a win. With the Browns resting key players on defense, their defense/special teams unit won't be as attractive in DFS or season-long leagues this weekend.
Cleveland Browns All-Pro edge rusher Myles Garrett (shoulder) was a full participant in practice on Friday and has been removed from the final Week 13 injury report, so he will play on Sunday against the Los Angeles Rams. Meanwhile, top cornerback Denzel Ward (shoulder) missed practice all week and will miss his second straight game. The Browns remain a little short-handed in the secondary for the second straight week with Ward sidelined, but it's great news that they will have their best pass-rusher on the field as they look to beat the Rams on the road. Cleveland's D allowed 29 points in the loss to the Denver Broncos last week, and although they remain strong up front, they're more of a low-end defensive unit for starting lineups in Week 13. Garrett should remain in all IDP lineups now that he's cleared to play.
