Myles Garrett News
Cleveland Browns edge rusher Myles Garrett went off in the Browns' 27-3 romping of the Tennessee Titans in Week 3. Garrett was a constant presence in the Titans' backfield, registering five hits on Ryan Tannehill and 3.5 sacks. Of his five combined tackles, four were solo. He also forced a fumble. The Browns' defense was completely dominant, limiting the Titans to just 94 total yards and stopping them all but 2-of-12 third down conversion attempts. Alex Wright and Ogbonnia Okoronkwo also joined Garrett on sacks.
Cleveland Browns defensive end Myles Garrett has a history of success against his Week 1 opponent, the Cincinnati Bengals. Last season, Garrett made 3.5 sacks and 7 QB hits in his two games against the Bengals. In his career, he has made 11.0 sacks in nine games against the Bengals. While the Bengals' offensive line has improved in recent years, it is still only average at best. Moreover, Bengals QB Joe Burrow goes down more often than other quarterbacks facing the same amount of pressure. His sack-to-pressure rate has typically been among the top half of the league. Myles Garrett and his new teammate on the other side of the defensive line, Za'Darius Smith, are both quality starts this week.
ESPN's Dan Graziano is predicting that Cleveland Browns edge rusher Myles Garrett will win Defensive Player of the Year in 2023. Sources from Browns training camp have said that Garrett is on another level this summer. The 27-year-old pass-rusher has been demoralizing Cleveland's offensive line in practices. Jim Schwartz is the team's new defensive coordinator and Za'Darius Smith is now around to complement Garrett in the pass rush, so he could be in for a monster season. It's not that much of a hot take, though, as Garrett has his second straight 16-sack season in 2022. The four-time Pro Bowler and two-time All-Pro has an impressive 74.5 sacks in his six NFL seasons and is a no-doubt top-five defensive lineman in IDP fantasy leagues.
