Puka Nacua Expected to Practice Despite Seeking Contract Extension

Los Angeles Rams star wide receiver Puka Nacua is expected to practice in training camp despite seeking a contract extension this summer, head coach Sean McVay told reporters. Nacua has quickly outplayed his rookie contract and is heading into the final year of the four-year, $4.08 million deal he signed with the Rams in June of 2023 after he was selected with the 177th overall pick in the fifth round out of BYU. The 25-year-old has made two Pro Bowls in his first three NFL seasons and has accumulated an insane 4,191 receiving yards and 19 touchdowns on 313 receptions (432 targets) in 44 regular-season games to begin his career. Nacua led the league in receptions (129) and yards per game (107.2) while setting career highs in receiving yards (1,715), targets (166), and touchdown catches (10) in 16 regular-season games in 2025. The Rams might be a little hesitant to commit to Nacua for the long term after some questionable off-the-field decisions he's made in the last year, but ultimately, they are expected to get something done with him. He's still the clear No. 1 fantasy receiver and should be an easy top-five pick in all formats this year.

Puka Nacua Could be a Candidate for the Franchise Tag in 2027

CBS Sports' Joel Corry makes the case that Los Angeles Rams wide receiver Puka Nacua could be a candidate for the franchise tag in 2027 as he heads into the final year of his rookie deal in 2026. Based strictly on his production through his first three years in the NFL -- 313 catches, 4,191 yards and 19 touchdowns in 44 regular-season games -- the case can be made that the 25-year-old deserves to be the highest-paid WR. The former fifth-rounder in 2023 led the league with 129 catches for 1,715 yards and 10 touchdowns (all career highs) in 2025, and his 107.2 receiving yards per game led the NFL. Nacua's 313 catches are the fourth-most ever in a span of his first three seasons, behind only Justin Jefferson (324), Michael Thomas (321), and Amon-Ra St. Brown (315). Only Jefferson (4,825) has more receiving yards through three seasons than Nacua. Questionable off-the-field decisions last year have jeopardized Nacua's big-time payday in the future. He could still get a new deal before the start of the 2026 regular season, but it remains to be seen if the Rams are comfortable with that yet. Either way, Nacua is the unquestioned top fantasy wideout going into this season with veteran QB Matthew Stafford back for another campaign.

Is Puka Nacua the Top Receiver in Fantasy?

Los Angeles Rams wide receiver Puka Nacua led the NFL with 129 receptions in 2025, but it's what he's been able to do once the ball is in his hands that makes him such a dynamic player and one of the game's truly elite fantasy assets. His incredible contact balance and willingness to fight through every tackle helped him to accrue more yards after catch than any other receiver in the league, and he also ranked first in 20+ yard receptions and receiving first downs. A standout player in all the areas that translate to fantasy success and surrounded by one of the league's best offensive infrastructures, it's no surprise that he is again ranked at the top of draft boards. Despite his recent off-field concerns, which have included an offseason stint in rehab, Nacua shows no signs of slowing between the white lines and is RotoBaller's WR1, the third overall player in half-PPR formats, and one of the strongest picks at the start of 2026 drafts.

Puka Nacua Remains an Elite Dynasty Wide Receiver Despite Off-Field Concerns

Los Angeles Rams wide receiver Puka Nacua has run into some off-field troubles in recent months, checking into a rehab facility in April while simultaneously fighting a civil lawsuit in which a woman alleged gender violence, assault, and battery. However, Nacua is not expected to face discipline from the NFL that would result in missed games in 2026. As long as he's on the field, there's zero question about the 25-year-old's ability to produce at a high level. Across 16 games in 2025, Nacua recorded 129 catches for 1,715 yards and 10 touchdowns on 166 targets. 44 games into his NFL career, Nacua is the league's all-time leader in receiving yards per game (95.3). While his off-field questions add some risk to his long-term dynasty outlook, Nacua has number one overall wide receiver upside. He should be viewed as an elite dynasty asset entering 2026.

Is Puka Nacua the WR1 in Dynasty Leagues?

Los Angeles Rams wide receiver Puka Nacua has had one of the most dominant starts to a career in NFL history. Only Justin Jefferson and Odell Beckham Jr. have topped his 95.3 receiving yards per game through the first three seasons in the league, with fourth-place Anquan Boldin more than 10 yards per game behind. Playing in 16 games in 2025, Nacua finished as the WR1 in half-PPR formats. His physical play style will always put him at risk of missing time, but when on the field, his ceiling is as high as any player in the league. At 25 years old, he is RotoBaller's dynasty WR3 as he enters the final season of his rookie contract. With reigning MVP Matthew Stafford committed to at least two more years with the team, an extension signed by Nacua could be the exact catalyst needed to push him into the top spot, but regardless of where he stands in the rankings, the future is bright for one of the NFL's best young players.

Is Puka Nacua's Dynasty Value Impacted by Potential Off-Field Concerns?

Los Angeles Rams wide receiver Puka Nacua put together a dominant season in 2025, recording 129 receptions for 1,715 yards and 10 touchdowns on 166 targets across 16 games. However, some off-field issues have emerged for the 24-year-old this offseason, as he's currently embroiled in a civil lawsuit and checked himself into a rehab facility in early April. There's zero question about Nacua's ability to produce on the field, as he's established himself as arguably the best wide receiver in the NFL over his first three professional seasons. Nacua's career average of 95.3 receiving yards per game is the best mark in the history of the NFL. To this point, he's also avoided any discipline from the NFL and is expected to be fully ready for the start of the 2026 season. Still, Nacua's off-field concerns bring some volatility to his dynasty profile. He remains an elite dynasty wideout overall, but managers in startup drafts may want to consider knocking him down a place or two in their rankings.

Puka Nacua Present for Rams First Day of Offseason Program

Los Angeles Rams wide receiver Puka Nacua was present for the first day of the team's offseason program on Monday, according to Gary Klein of the Los Angeles Times. Nacua led the NFL in catches (129) and receiving yards per game (107.2) in 16 regular-season contests while also posting a career-high 1,715 yards and career-high 10 touchdowns in just his third year in the NFL. The 24-year-old has been in the headlines this offseason for the wrong reasons, though, and he recently checked into a rehab facility last month. A civil lawsuit was also filed against Nacua in March, which stems from an incident on New Year's Eve in 2025. Nacua isn't expected to be in any danger of receiving a suspension from the league, so he'll be in play as the first receiver off the board in fantasy drafts this fall. He even beat out Seattle's Jaxon Smith-Njigba for the title of WR1 overall in fantasy points in 2026.

Puka Nacua Checks Into Rehab Facility

According to Adam Schefter of ESPN, Los Angeles Rams wide receiver Puka Nacua has checked into a rehab facility. Per the star wide receiver's attorney, Levi McCathern, he has been in rehab for a "substantial period" before previous allegations of assault, and "he's scheduled to be there for a while longer." Earlier in the offseason, Nacua was accused of biting a woman in Los Angeles and had charges pressed against him. In these charges, the victim claimed Nacua made serious, vulgar, antisemitic remarks before biting her forcefully several times. While the wideout has denied all accusations regarding this incident, he is seeking additional help and support at this facility. Managers should continue to monitor this situation in the offseason, as a court hearing regarding this incident is scheduled for April 14.

Rams Want Puka Nacua to Stick Around for a "Really Long Time"

The Los Angeles Rams remain confident in star wide receiver Puka Nacua, who is in line for a lucrative contract extension, despite some poor judgment he has recently displayed off the field. "You guys know, I trust this kid's heart," head coach Sean McVay said. "This is an opportunity for him to learn and grow, and we are hopeful that he's a Ram for a really long time." The 24-year-old from BYU has turned out to be a major value pick for the Rams after they selected him in the fifth round (177th overall) in 2023. Nacua has quickly become one of the top receivers in the NFL after just three seasons, making the Pro Bowl twice and leading the league in 2025 in catches (129), while adding a career-high 1,715 yards and 10 touchdowns in 16 regular-season games. He even outscored Jaxon Smith-Njigba in fantasy to take home the WR1 crown. Nacua has a ridiculous total of 313 catches, 4,191 yards, and 19 touchdowns in just 44 career games. He's the real deal and will be a first-round fantasy asset in 2026 redrafts.

Puka Nacua Accused of Biting a Woman, Making Antisemitic Remarks

Los Angeles Rams star wide receiver Puka Nacua has been accused of biting a woman in Los Angeles and making antisemitic remarks. The alleged victim detailed the situation in an application for a temporary restraining order on the wide receiver. The victim claimed Nauca made serious vulgar remarks regarding the Jewish community and stated, "first act in what became an escalating course of rude or vulgar, threatening, violent, and harassing conduct." The woman then claimed Nacua "dropped his head into her lap and crotch area and bit her thumb so forcefully that she screamed in acute pain," while in a Sprinter van shortly after. Earlier in March, a mediation conference between both sides was offered, but Nacua's team threatened to contact "other press and media outlets" to "disseminate false, inaccurate, and/or deliberately exaggerated public statements about the events." During the 2025 regular season, Nacua apologized for making previous antisemitic remarks and gestures during a livestream. The 24-year-old wide receiver has denied all allegations of this incident. A judge in the Los Angeles area has also denied the women's request for a restraining order. A hearing is currently scheduled for April 14.
