Colby Parkinson Facing More Pressure for Passing-Game Work

Los Angeles Rams tight end Colby Parkinson is coming off the best season of his career, but his grip on the receiving work looks shakier heading into 2026. Parkinson caught 43 passes for 408 yards and a franchise-record eight touchdowns last year, production that leaned heavily on his work near the goal line. The Rams still use enough multi-tight-end sets to keep him involved, but Terrance Ferguson made a strong push for more this summer. The second-year tight end flashed throughout camp, drew praise from Sean McVay for his versatility and playmaking, and now shares first-team billing with Parkinson on the Rams' unofficial depth chart. Tyler Higbee, Davis Allen and second-round rookie Max Klare only make the room deeper. Parkinson isn't being pushed out of the offense, and he had his own good moments in camp. The concern is how many routes and red-zone looks are left once the snaps get spread around. After scoring eight times on only 56 targets last season, Parkinson looks much more touchdown-dependent than his 2025 finish suggests.

Colby Parkinson the Leader of Rams' Tight End Room?

Sports Illustrated's Albert Breer writes that Los Angeles Rams tight end Colby Parkinson is "leading a deep, versatile tight end group." The Rams also have Tyler Higbee, Terrance Ferguson, Davis Allen, and rookie Max Klare at the position, and they ran the highest percentage of three-tight-end sets in the league last year. The 27-year-old Parkinson set career highs across the board with 43 receptions on 56 targets for 408 yards and eight touchdowns in 2025 in 15 regular-season games in his sixth year in the NFL (second with the Rams). It was a nice season for Parkinson, but even in one of the league's highest-scoring offenses, fantasy managers should not expect a repeat for him in 2026. It is a crowded TE room, and Ferguson probably has the most short- and long-term pass-catching upside of the group in an offense in which receivers Puka Nacua and Davante Adams dominate targets from quarterback Matthew Stafford. At best, Parkinson should be considered a touchdown-dependent TE2 in fantasy football leagues, and there will surely be a lot of volatility on a week-to-week basis.

Colby Parkinson's Fantasy Ceiling Capped by a Deep Tight End Room

Los Angeles Rams tight end Colby Parkinson finished third on the team in most major receiving categories in 2025, topped only by the electric wide receiver tandem of Puka Nacua and Davante Adams. With the Rams deploying 13 personnel at a historic rate, he was often the second read on any given pass play, and while more heavy personnel usage is expected in 2026, increased competition from his own position group will make it difficult for Parkinson to repeat his TE15 finish from a year ago. The team spent a second-round pick on Ohio State's Max Klare, and veteran Tyler Higbee is healthy after playing in only 10 games in 2025, but Parkinson's stiffest competition will come from second-year player Terrance Ferguson, who by all accounts is having an outstanding training camp after a strong finish to his rookie season. Ferguson led all NFL tight ends with an unfathomable 21.0 yards per reception in 2025, and with the most obvious upside among his own team's position room, he has emerged as the Rams tight end to roster in 2026, pushing Parkinson to RotoBaller's TE31.

Colby Parkinson Expected to Lead Rams TE Room in 2026

According to Albert Breer of Sports Illustrated, Los Angeles Rams tight end Colby Parkinson is expected to lead the team's deep tight end room once again in 2026. While the Rams have several emerging options behind Parkinson, including second-year pass-catcher Terrance Ferguson, veteran Tyler Higbee, and second-round rookie Max Klare, Parkinson is currently penciled in to lead the room. The 27-year-old emerged as Matthew Stafford's go-to option in this room during the 2025 campaign, finding the back of the end zone eight times and bringing in 43 of his 56 targets. He tallied 408 yards, which also marked a season-best. While Parkinson may see his opportunities limited given the depth of this room as the season progresses, for the time being, he projects to hold high-end TE2 upside in a potent Los Angeles passing attack.

Added Competition Will Make a Top-15 Repeat Difficult for Colby Parkinson

Los Angeles Rams tight end Colby Parkinson led the position group in targets, receptions, receiving yards, and receiving touchdowns in 2025, trailing only Puka Nacua and Davante Adams across all receiving categories. While the further development of 2025 second-round pick Terrance Ferguson and the return to health of veteran Tyler Higbee will almost certainly lower his fantasy ceiling, the seventh-year pro will still serve a vital role in an offense that took the league by storm last year with its unprecedented use of 13 personnel. However, the increased competition at the position, including another second-round pick spent on rookie Max Klare, will likely prevent Parkinson from repeating his TE15 finish from a year ago. As RotoBaller's TE31, Parkinson is unlikely to be drafted in most 2026 lineup leagues, but he is at least worthy of a late-round pick in best ball drafts, with the potential to reach the end zone in nearly any game he plays.

Can Colby Parkinson Still Provide Dynasty Depth From a Crowded Tight End Room?

Los Angeles Rams tight end Colby Parkinson led his position group in targets, receptions, yards, and touchdowns in 2025, finishing third on the team across all categories, behind only Puka Nacua and Davante Adams. Veteran Tyler Higbee comes into the year healthy after missing the majority of the 2025 season with the ACL tear suffered in 2024, and the Rams spent second-round capital on Max Klare after selecting Terrance Ferguson in the second round of the 2025 NFL Draft. While that level of competition could make Parkinson's 2025 TE15 finish a near impossibility to repeat in most situations, the Rams' extensive use of three tight end personnel at least keeps the seventh-year veteran fantasy relevant in the final season of his current contract. While Ferguson and Klare are likely the future of the position in Los Angeles, Parkinson should still see enough usage to make him a viable dynasty depth piece with occasional streamability in 2026 and a chance to find a new role elsewhere in 2027. At 27 years old, he is easily acquirable as RotoBaller's dynasty TE32.

Colby Parkinson Facing Likely Regression After Career Year in 2025

Los Angeles Rams tight end Colby Parkinson put together a career year in 2025, recording 43 catches for 408 yards and eight touchdowns on 56 targets across 15 games. However, Parkinson looks like a prime regression candidate heading into 2026. For one, his production in 2025 was largely fueled by a spike in touchdown receptions, and he remained a low-volume target-earner on a game-to-game basis. Secondly, the Rams have one of the deepest tight end rooms in the league with Terrance Ferguson, Tyler Higbee, and 2026 second-round pick Max Klare all providing playing time competition for Parkinson. Even if Rams quarterback Matthew Stafford leads the league in touchdown passes for the second straight season in 2026, it seems unlikely that Parkinson will be able to match or exceed his 2025 output. Dynasty managers should be looking to sell high on Parkinson before the start of the upcoming season.

Colby Parkinson a Clear Dynasty Sell-High Candidate Entering 2026

Los Angeles Rams tight end Colby Parkinson turned in the best season of his career in 2025, recording 43 receptions for 408 yards and eight touchdowns on 56 targets across 15 games. While Parkinson's production can't be ignored, all signs point to regression heading into 2026. The 27-year-old has never averaged even four targets per game in any of his six NFL seasons, leading his fantasy outlook to be heavily reliant on touchdown-scoring. Additionally, Parkinson faces significant competition for tight end snaps in Los Angeles from the combination of Tyler Higbee, 2025 second-rounder Terrance Ferguson, and 2026 second-rounder Max Klare. The Rams are known for using multiple-tight-end personnel groupings at a high rate, which helps Parkinson's playing time outlook. Still, expecting him to provide consistent fantasy production every week looks like a losing proposition for fantasy managers. RotoBaller currently ranks Parkinson as the 49th-best tight end for dynasty formats.

Colby Parkinson Facing More Competition Than Ever Before

Los Angeles Rams tight end Colby Parkinson ended up leading his position group in fantasy points last year, but his position atop the depth chart may be in jeopardy ahead of the 2026 season. The Rams have 2025 second-round pick Terrance Ferguson set to make a Year 2 leap, and they also spent a second-round pick on Ohio State tight end Max Klare this past Friday. All the while, veteran Tyler Higbee was brought back on a new contract. This is a very crowded tight end room, and common sense would indicate that the Rams want to get Ferguson and Klare more involved, since they're the presumptive tight ends of the future in Los Angeles. We wouldn't be surprised if Parkinson's 2026 looks similar to the first half of 2025 -- handling a decent snap share but not being heavily involved in the passing game. He was the TE67 from Week 1-9 last season, then jumped to TE4 from Week 10-18. As it stands, he ranks as the overall TE52 in RotoBaller's latest dynasty fantasy football rankings. For comparison, Ferguson is the TE25 and Klare is the TE27.

Colby Parkinson Faces Heavy Competition for Targets in Los Angeles

Los Angeles Rams tight end Colby Parkinson had the best season of his career in 2025, recording 43 receptions for 408 yards and eight touchdowns on 56 targets across 15 games played. The 27-year-old had recorded just five touchdown grabs across five NFL seasons coming into the year, making his spike in end zone production particularly noteworthy. However, it may be difficult for Parkinson to repeat his breakout year in 2026. The Rams should get more production from veteran tight end Tyler Higbee, who missed seven games in 2025 due to an ankle injury. Los Angeles could also choose to funnel more playing time and targets towards second-year tight end Terrance Ferguson, whom they spent the 46th overall pick in the 2025 NFL Draft on. Given that Parkinson has still never reached the 60-target mark in a season going into his seventh year in the NFL, it seems wise to project a production regression in 2026. RotoBaller currently ranks Parkinson as the 50th-best tight end for dynasty formats.
