Jaylen Watson Active To Face Houston

According to the team, Kansas City Chiefs defensive back Jaylen Watson (leg) is active for Saturday's playoff game against the Houston Texans. Watson has been sidelined since suffering a fractured fibula during their Week 7 victory over the San Francisco 49ers. Watson was able to log three straight full practice sessions leading up to this game suggesting he will be a full go in this contest. During the first six games of the season, Watson tallied 29 tackles (19 solo) with ten assists and six deflections. Fantasy managers should expect Watson to have a key role in this contest as the Chiefs begin their playoff march.

Chiefs Activate Jaylen Watson From Injured Reserve

The Kansas City Chiefs announced on Friday that they activated cornerback Jaylen Watson (leg) from Injured Reserve. In corresponding moves, the team also activated linebacker Swayze Bozeman and safety Deon Bush to the active 53-man roster ahead of the Divisional Round game on Saturday against the visiting Houston Texans. Although Watson was activated from IR, he's not guaranteed to play on Saturday and was listed as questionable on the final injury report on Friday. The 26-year-old defensive back had been on IR since Oct. 22 after suffering a fractured left leg in Week 7 against the San Francisco 49ers, so even if he's active this weekend, expect the Chiefs to keep his snaps limited in his first game back after a long absence. In six games in 2024 before his injury, Watson had 32 tackles (21 solo) and six pass breakups for the Chiefs.

Jaylen Watson Designated To Return From IR, Will Practice On Friday

The Kansas City Chiefs are designating defensive back Jaylen Watson (ankle) to return from Injured Reserve, and he will practice on Friday. Watson suffered his injury in Week 7's win over the San Francisco 49ers, leading him to land on the IR. During Weeks 8-14 with Watson out, the Chiefs have ranked 27th in EPA per play as a defense. The Chiefs still rank second in points allowed per game during the season (18.0). With the Chiefs locking up the No. 1 seed in the AFC, Watson will have a chance to suit up this Sunday against the Denver Broncos to get a few reps before the Chiefs' next game in the Divisional playoff round on the weekend of the 18th of January.

Jaylen Watson To Have Surgery, Season Likely Over

Kansas City Chiefs defensive back Jaylen Watson (ankle) will have surgery in the coming days to fix a broken fibula-tibia after tests confirmed the serious injury, according to sources. There's an outside chance that Watson could return for a late-season playoff push, but his season could very well be over. In a best-case scenario, the 26-year-old might be able to return if the Chiefs make a third straight trip to the Super Bowl early in 2025. It's a big blow for Kansas City's secondary, as Watson had essentially become an every-snap starter on the outside this year before getting hurt in the Week 7 win over the San Francisco 49ers. The former seventh-rounder in 2022 had recorded 32 tackles (21 solo) and six pass breakups in his six games this year. Expect both Nazeeh Johnson and Joshua Williams to take on bigger roles with Watson now out the rest of the way.
