Christian Barmore "Dominant" this Spring

New England Patriots defensive lineman Christian Barmore played in just four games during the 2024 campaign after experiencing blood clots. The former second-round pick out of Alabama in 2021 was entering his first season following a four-year, $83 million contract, and his NFL future was up in the air just eight months ago. However, he has since been cleared to practice, and Chad Graff of The Athletic reports that he had a fantastic spring under new head coach Mike Vrabel. "Barmore was one of the most dominant players at practice," Graff wrote. "In many ways, he looked like his 2023 version, continually pushing the pocket against a reshuffled interior O-line." Barmore had a breakout campaign in 2023, collecting 64 tackles (39 solo), 8.5 sacks, one forced fumble, 8.5 run stuffs, and six pass deflections. With newly signed free agents Milton Williams and Harold Landry III playing next to him on New England's new-look defensive line, Barmore could be freed up for more favorable pass-rushing matchups. The 25-year-old is one to watch for the end-of-season Comeback Player of the Year award.

Christian Barmore Expected To Play In Week 1 After Dealing With Blood Clots

New England Patriots defensive tackle Christian Barmore (illness) has been cleared for football activity and expects to play in Week 1, according to NFL.com. The 2021 second-round pick out of Alabama played in just four games due to a blood clot issue, so this is great news for the team and the 25-year-old. Barmore has appeared in 48 games over the last four years, totaling 139 tackles, 13.5 sacks, 15.5 run stuffs, one forced fumble, and nine deflections. He'll play opposite newly signed free agent Milton Williams in 2025, and the duo could be an underrated unit in the NFL.

Christian Barmore Expected To Be Ready For Offseason Workouts

The New England Patriots expect to have defensive tackle Christian Barmore (illness) in the fold when they begin their offseason workouts on Monday, April 7, according to head coach Mike Vrabel. It's great news for the interior of the team's defensive line, as Barmore entered the offseason with uncertainty after having a setback with his blood-clot diagnosis last year. The Patriots signed the 25-year-old to a four-year, $84 million extension in 2024 after he led the team in sacks (8.5) and QB hits (16) in 2023. But he was diagnosed with blood clots in his lungs right before the start of training camp last July and ended up playing in only four regular-season games. Barmore made his season debut in Week 11 but was shut down after experiencing "recurring symptoms" from blood clots. If healthy, Barmore will join forces with Milton Williams, and the two could create one of the best interior combinations in the NFL.

Christian Barmore Headed For NFI List

New England Patriots defensive lineman Christian Barmore (illness) has been placed on the non-football illness list after a statement from the team was released on Thursday. The Patriots stated that Barmore "experienced some recurring symptoms that required further evaluation." Barmore will have to sit out for the rest of the season so that he can hopefully return next year symptom-free. He finishes with 1.0 sacks, six total tackles, one tackle for loss, and one QB hit across four appearances.

Pats’ Christian Barmore To Practice Thursday

New England Patriots defensive tackle Christian Barmore (blood clots) is likely to practice for the first time since the diagnosis on Thursday, according to a report from NFL Network's Ian Rapoport. The star tackle has not played at all this season after posting a career-best 8.5 sacks and 64 tackles in 2023. The 2021 second-round pick earned a four-year extension from New England earlier this year that made him the highest-paid defensive player in team history. For now, Barmore remains on the non-football illness list, but practicing once again would be an encouraging step that puts him on track to return.

Christian Barmore, Patriots Agree On Four-Year Extension

Standout defensive tackle Christian Barmore and the New England Patriots reached an agreement on a four-year contract extension with a maximum value of $92 million on Monday. The deal was negotiated and confirmed by agent Nicole Lynn of Klutch Sports. The deal contains $41.8 million in guarantees in the largest deal that the Patriots have given out since Tom Brady. The 24-year-old former second-rounder in 2021 out of Alabama earned the big extension by recording 133 tackles (74 solo), 12.5 sacks, 18 tackles for loss, 32 QB hits, nine passes defended and one forced fumble in 44 games (11 starts) in his first three years in the NFL. He had a career-high 8.5 sacks in 17 games (six starts) last year and will stick around in New England as a key piece on the interior of their defensive line for years to come.

Christian Barmore Won't Return In Week 6

New England Patriots defensive lineman Christian Barmore (knee) has been ruled out for the remainder of Sunday's game against the Cleveland Browns. The 23-year-old has amassed 15 tackles and one sack through parts of six games this season. A 2021 second-round pick, Barmore has played a key role as a member of the Patriots' defensive front. In his absence, Carl Davis should see more snaps alongside Davon Godchaux.
