Greg Van Roten News
The Las Vegas Raiders signed veteran free-agent offensive guard Greg Van Roten to an undisclosed deal last week. Van Roten will join the Raider in 2023 after spending the 2022 season with the Buffalo Bills, where he played in 16 games and made four starts at center. Van Roten has the ability to play center, left guard and right guard, so he'll give the Raiders some flexibility and depth along their offensive line this year. The former undrafted free agent out of Pennsylvania played the first two seasons of his NFL career with the Green Bay Packers before also spending time with the Carolina Panthers and New York Jets. In his eight NFL campaigns, the 33-year-old offensive lineman has played in 93 games (54 starts).
The Buffalo Bills signed former New York Jets offensive lineman Greg Van Roten to an undisclosed one-year deal on Monday. Van Roten was released by the Jets this offseason, but he'll remain in the AFC East division as offensive line depth for Buffalo. The 32-year-old started 23 games for the Jets the last two seasons but was sent to the bench midway through the 2021 campaign. In his seven-year NFL career, Van Roten has made 50 starts, so he'll give the Bills some valuable O-line depth. Van Roten began his career in 2012 with the Green Bay Packers and also played three seasons with the Carolina Panthers before joining the Jets in 2020.
The New York Jets released offensive guard Greg Van Roten on Friday after they claimed guard Nate Herbig off waivers from the Philadelphia Eagles on Thursday. The move to release Van Roten clears $3.5 million in salary cap space. Van Roten made 23 starts over the last two seasons after signing a three-year deal with the Jets before the 2020 season. The 32-year-old entered the league as an undrafted free agent in 2012 with the Green Bay Packers, and he spent two seasons with them before joining the Carolina Panthers from 2017-19. Free-agent pickup Laken Tomlinson is expected to join Alijah Vera-Tucker as the Jets starting offensive guards this year. Herbig will be a top backup.
