Will Campbell Expected to be Out at Least Four Weeks

New England Patriots rookie left tackle Will Campbell (knee) is expected to miss at least four weeks with an MCL sprain. Campbell suffered the injury in Week 12 against the Cincinnati Bengals and left on a cart with a towel over his head. While it's unclear whether Campbell is a candidate for the injured reserve, Mike Vrabel has been very quiet so far about this situation. With Campbell and left guard Jared Wilson set to miss time, the Patriots might be in for a rough few weeks with their left side of the offensive line out. If Campbell is placed on the injured reserve (which we'll know by Saturday), he won't be eligible to return until Week 18 at the earliest.

Will Campbell Could Go on Injured Reserve With MCL Sprain

Ian Rapoport spoke on Good Morning Football on Monday and said that Patriots fourth overall pick Will Campbell is believed to have suffered an MCL sprain and will undergo an MRI of his knee, sources said. He's a candidate for Injured Reserve, with the hope he returns when it counts the most. This is a massive blow to New England's offensive line, as Campbell has been a key cog in helping Drake Maye take off in his second season and in making the run game efficient. Vederian Lowe filled in for Campbell on Sunday. According to PFF, Campbell ranks 27th out of 77th in overall grade, and has played 694 offensive snaps, which ranks eighth of 77. The Patriots will try to fill the void with Lowe, hoping Campbell can return later in the season if the Patriots make a run.

Will Campbell Expects to Play Against Raiders

New England Patriots rookie offensive tackle Will Campbell (ankle) is on track to play Sunday against the Las Vegas Raiders, according to Jordan Schultz. Campbell was limited in practice on Thursday and Friday with an ankle injury, but despite being listed as questionable, the fourth overall pick is expected to make his NFL debut in Week 1. This is a major boost for a Patriots offense that struggled badly along the offensive line last season. Protecting quarterback Drake Maye, who is aiming for a Year Two leap, will be critical to the team's success, and Campbell's presence helps stabilize the unit. The rookie will be tested immediately, as he draws a tough Week 1 matchup against Maxx Crosby, one of the league's elite edge rushers. How Campbell holds up could be a defining factor for both the Patriots' offensive rhythm and Maye's performance in the opener.

Will Campbell Ends Minicamp as Top Left Tackle

ESPN's Mike Reiss writes that the New England Patriots concluded their mandatory minicamp last week with rookie offensive tackle Will Campbell, who was the fourth overall pick in April's NFL draft, working as the top left tackle. "I definitely would say I've gotten more comfortable as the days have gone on, with the playbook and the scheme. It's only going to keep getting better," Campbell said, adding that he plans a brief break to get away before the official start of training camp on July 23. The 21-year-old was a three-year starter at LSU and figures to start right away at left tackle in 2025 to protect the blind side of second-year quarterback Drake Maye. With short arms, Campbell is going to have to overcome that against elite pass-rushers with his technique and athleticism.

Will Campbell Signs $43.3 Million Rookie Deal

The New England Patriots officially signed first-round rookie offensive tackle Will Campbell to a fully-guaranteed four-year, $43.3 million contract on Tuesday. This leaves Jacksonville Jaguars wide receiver/cornerback Travis Hunter as the only top-10 pick yet to sign his rookie deal. Campbell, the No. 4 overall pick in the 2025 NFL Draft out of LSU, will be tasked with protecting quarterback Drake Maye's blindside for the foreseeable future after earning three consecutive All-SEC honors in Baton Rouge. The New England offensive line has struggled for the last few seasons, and Campbell is expected to be a significant building block on the offense under new head coach Mike Vrabel.

Patriots Select Will Campbell At Fourth Overall

The New England Patriots selected LSU offensive tackle Will Campbell with the No. 4 overall pick in the 2025 NFL draft on Thursday night. This one was expected as the Patriots look to bolster their offensive line in front of young quarterback Drake Maye. There are concerns about Campbell's arm length as he heads to the next level, but he can make up for it with elite athleticism. Campbell has always been a left tackle in his football career and is expected to stick at the position as he heads to the NFL to protect Maye's blind side. The 21-year-old is excellent in run protection as well as protecting the quarterback. The Louisiana native stands at 6-foot-6, 319 pounds. Despite having short arm, Campbell has elite hands and uses them as well as anybody in this draft at the position. If he stays healthy, Campbell should be a staple for the Pats on the left side of the O-line.

Patriots Linked To Will Campbell

New England Patriots brass traveled to Louisiana in recent days to visit with LSU offensive lineman Will Campbell, sources told ESPN's Jeremy Fowler. The Patriots have been linked to the All-American tackle with their No. 4 overall pick in this year's NFL draft and did more homework on him late in the process. The Patriots have been fielding calls to trade out of the fourth overall pick in the days leading up to the first round on Thursday night, but if they hold onto the pick and both Colorado two-way star Travis Hunter and Penn State edge rusher Abdul Carter are off the board, they are expected to call Campbell's name as they try to build up their offensive line in front of young quarterback Drake Maye. The biggest knock on Campbell as a potential bust at the next level is due to his short arms for an offensive lineman.

Will Campbell Linked To The Patriots

LSU offensive tackle Will Campbell has been the player most linked to the New England Patriots heading into this year's NFL draft, writes The Athletic's Chad Graff. If Colorado two-way player Travis Hunter is off the board by the time the Patriots pick at No. 4 overall, Graff says that it would come down to Campbell or Michigan defensive tackle Mason Graham for him. Graham could be rated higher, but Campbell fills more of an immediate need to New England on their offensive line. The final decision could come down to how the Pats address their O-line in free agency. Another factor could come down to Campbell's less-than-ideal arm length, which could mean he's destined to play guard at the next level and mean he'd be more of a reach at fourth overall. The biggest knock against Graham is that this year's defensive tackle class is very deep.
