Hunter Henry's Role Still Makes Him a Late-Round Target

New England Patriots tight end Hunter Henry keeps giving fantasy managers reasons not to forget about him. He caught 60 passes for a career-high 768 yards and seven touchdowns last season, finishing as the TE7 in half-PPR, and New England just gave him a two-year extension worth a reported $16 million. That matters, but so does what has happened on the field. Henry was the standout player in the Patriots' Aug. 3 practice, and he still sits at the top of a tight end room that includes third-round rookie Eli Raridon. Raridon has flashed in camp and should have a role, especially with New England using plenty of multi-tight end looks, but the Patriots have treated him more like Henry's eventual successor than an immediate replacement. There is more competition for targets after the additions of A.J. Brown and Romeo Doubs, so another TE7 finish is hardly a lock. Still, Henry has already shown he can produce with Drake Maye and remains RotoBaller's TE16. For managers who wait at tight end, he is one of the better late-round options still sitting outside the position's top tier.

Hunter Henry an Undervalued Late-Round Tight End

New England Patriots tight end Hunter Henry recorded a career-high 768 receiving yards in 2025, with his seven touchdowns the highest total since his first season in New England in 2021. His career-year resulted in a TE7 finish and helped earn him the two-year, $16 million extension he signed on Sunday. The Patriots signed veteran Julian Hill in free agency before drafting Eli Raridon in the third round of the NFL Draft, signaling a willingness to feature the tight end position in 2026, and while Hill has since suffered a season-ending ACL tear, the team may have found his replacement in undrafted free agent Tanner Arkin. The Patriots have deployed multi-tight end sets throughout training camp, with Henry consistently making big plays down the seam while showcasing a strengthening chemistry with quarterback Drake Maye. After top 12 fantasy finishes in each of the past two seasons, Henry is being drafted as the TE16 in 2026, making him a strong second tight end option to help navigate early-season matchups.

Hunter Henry Signs Two-Year Extension with Patriots

Veteran tight end Hunter Henry and the New England Patriots have agreed on a two-year extension that will keep him with the team through his age-34 season, according to NFL Insider Ian Rapoport. Henry signed with the Patriots in 2021, and the new deal increases the likelihood that he finishes his career in New England. The 11th-year pro caught 60 passes in 2025 for a career-high 768 yards, and he's become a favorite target for quarterback Drake Maye. While the Patriots spent a Day 2 pick on rookie Eli Raridon, and the addition of A.J. Brown could add touchdown competition in the red zone, those concerns are thoroughly baked into Henry's draft cost, giving him a chance to once more surpass ADP expectations as the 16th tight end off the board after top 12 finishes in each of the past two seasons.

Hunter Henry Making Highlight-Reel Catches in Camp

Mark Daniels of MassLive.com reports that New England Patriots tight end Hunter Henry made a highlight-reel grab during training camp practice on Tuesday, jumping over defender Kevin Byard and then crashing to the ground for a big gain on a deep connection with quarterback Drake Maye. The 31-year-old veteran and former second-rounder (35th overall) by the Chargers in 2016 from the University of Arkansas is still New England's top pass-catching TE going into 2026, despite the addition of rookie Eli Raridon in this year's draft. Henry had a strong 2025 season (his fifth year with the Pats), catching 60 of his 87 targets for 768 yards and seven touchdowns (his most since 2021) in 17 regular-season starts. At the very worst, Henry should be considered a midrange TE2 while developing excellent chemistry with Maye, although his floor and ceiling could be lowered in 2026 after the offseason additions of receivers A.J. Brown and Romeo Doubs. With limited volume most likely, Henry will be dependent on finding the end zone, perhaps more than ever before.

Hunter Henry Still the Patriots TE1

New England Patriots tight end Hunter Henry is still the team's unquestioned TE1 entering the 2026 season, even though the team added rookie Eli Raridon in April's draft, according to Evan Lazar of Patriots.com. Henry was below-average as a run-blocker last year, but he ranked seventh among TEs in receiving yards with a career-high 768 and had the second-most total EPA by a tight end at plus-72.4. The 31-year-old will once again be a trusted target for young quarterback Drake Maye as the two continue to develop strong chemistry. Raridon could be a possible successor to Henry and could have a big Year 1 role with New England, but as long as Henry is healthy, he'll be the Pats' top pass-catching TE. However, with the additions of receivers A.J. Brown and Romeo Doubs, Henry is looking at a lower volume ceiling and floor in his sixth year in New England. Henry has had at least 419 receiving yards in all 10 of his NFL campaigns and is a solid red-zone target for Maye, but fantasy managers should target him as a midrange TE2 this year instead of a surefire TE1.

Hunter Henry Still Undervalued Coming Off a Career Year

New England Patriots tight end Hunter Henry was the TE7 in half-PPR formats in 2025, and with one of the league's most efficient offenses from a season ago potentially taking another step forward, he projects as one of the most mispriced tight ends in 2026 drafts. Frequently going undrafted outside of deep best ball formats, Henry's current ADP is stuck at TE19, which would represent his lowest end-of-season finish since 2022. With the Patriots allowing Austin Hooper to depart in free agency, they signed blocking specialist Julian Hill to a three-year deal and spent a third-round pick on Notre Dame's Eli Raridon. Since then, Hill tore his ACL during organized team activities, and the rookie looked noticeably slender compared to the rest of the position group and could take time to develop the play strength needed to earn an every-down role in what projects to be one of the more physical offenses in the league. Head coach Mike Vrabel specifically pointed to tight end as a position where he'd like to find additional depth, but it's unlikely that anyone added to the roster at this point would pose a serious threat to Henry's role after he paced all New England pass catchers in 2025 with more than 1,000 snaps across the regular season and playoffs. A trusted big-body target for Drake Maye in both the middle of the field and the red zone, Henry should provide a usable weekly floor at a position where that is often enough for fantasy, but he also boasts multi-touchdown upside and is a player who should not be fully dismissed in the late rounds of 2026 drafts.

Is Hunter Henry Primed for a Career Year?

New England Patriots tight end Hunter Henry has turned in TE1 fantasy finishes in each of the past two seasons and in four of the last seven years, and he heads into 2026 with a locked-in role in a still uptrending offense. The Patriots finished 2025 as the league's number one offense in terms of both total EPA and EPA per play in what was only the first season of quarterback Drake Maye and offensive coordinator Josh McDaniels working together. By most accounts, Maye is already miles ahead of where he was at this point last season. While new wide receiver A.J. Brown is certain to draw targets, he also has the ability to elevate the offense as a whole and create more red zone opportunities for Henry. The Patriots replaced Austin Hooper with Julian Hill, but the latter is already lost for the season with a knee injury, and while the team spent a third-round pick on Notre Dame's Eli Raridon, he's still a somewhat raw prospect who could take time to develop in McDaniels' famously complex system. While he will turn 32 this season, Henry is arguably in the best situation of his 11-year career, and at RotoBaller's dynasty TE25, he's an obvious trade target for contending managers.

Hunter Henry Profiles as a Dynasty Sell-High Candidate Entering 2026

New England Patriots tight end Hunter Henry had one of the best years of his career in 2025, recording 60 receptions for 768 yards and seven touchdowns on 87 targets across 17 games. Henry's seven scores led Patriots pass-catchers, and he finished second on the team in both catches and receiving yards behind only veteran wideout Stefon Diggs. Henry enters 2026 atop New England's tight end depth chart, and he has established a nice chemistry in the red zone with Patriots quarterback Drake Maye. However, New England used a third-round pick in the 2026 NFL Draft on Notre Dame tight end Eli Raridon. With Henry entering his age-32 season and the final year of his current contract with the Patriots, his long-term future with the team could be in question. In dynasty formats, managers may want to explore sell-high opportunities on Henry before it's too late.

Hunter Henry's Long-Term Future in New England in Question After NFL Draft?

New England Patriots tight end Hunter Henry was a steady contributor in 2025, hauling in 60 receptions for 768 yards and seven touchdowns on 87 targets across 17 games. The veteran established excellent red zone chemistry with Patriots quarterback Drake Maye and led New England in touchdown catches. However, Henry's long-term future with the Patriots may be in question after New England used a third-round pick on Notre Dame tight end Eli Raridon in the 2026 NFL Draft. While Henry still projects to open the upcoming year atop the Patriots' tight end depth chart, 2026 will be his age-32 season and is also the final season on his current contract. In dynasty formats, Henry's value is in question following the NFL Draft.

Hunter Henry Could Be Impacted by NFL Draft

New England Patriots tight end Hunter Henry has been a reliably steady fantasy presence at an often overlooked position, rarely busting and providing occasional week-winning performances on his way to four top-12 finishes over the past seven seasons, including a career-best TE7 finish in 2025. He was an early offseason winner when the Patriots allowed Austin Hooper to return to Atlanta in free agency and replaced him with Julian Hill, who profiles more as an inline blocker. However, Henry is 31 years old, and with tight end regarded as one of the deepest positions in this year's draft, the team will almost certainly be looking to add his eventual replacement to the roster. New England recently hosted Georgia's Oscar Delp on an official visit and has reportedly met with several players at the position throughout the pre-draft process. The Patriots are also still rumored to be interested in a post-June 1st trade for A.J. Brown, which would add additional red zone competition, further lessening Henry's dynasty value.
