Garrett Bradbury Agrees To Two-Year Deal With Patriots
Former Minnesota Vikings first-rounder Garrett Bradbury reached an agreement on Tuesday on a two-year deal worth up to $12 million, including $3.8 million guaranteed, with the New England Patriots, sources told ESPN's Adam Schefter. The 29-year-old center was the 18th overall selection by Minnesota in the 2019 NFL draft out of North Carolina State and started all 88 games he played for the Vikings in his six years with the team. He is expected to replace recently released 10-year veteran and team captain David Andrews as the new center for second-year quarterback Drake Maye. It didn't take long for Bradbury to find a new home after he was just released by the Vikes on Monday. He's one of the league's smaller centers at listed weight of 300 pounds, so he could continue to struggle with big and power defensive tackles.
NFL Network's Tom Pelissero reports that the Minnesota Vikings have released center Garrett Bradbury with a post-June 1 designation. Pelissero notes that the Vikings tried to trade him but had no choice but to move on and will carry his money on their salary cap until June 2. Bradbury spent his entire six-year career with Minnesota after the team selected him in the first round of the 2019 NFL Draft. The 29-year-old started all 17 games for the team in 2024, playing 100% of the snaps (1,117). Bradbury is a more proficient run-blocker than he is protecting the quarterback, as he was attributed with four sacks allowed last season, ranking 58th in the metric among 64 qualified centers. However, he's still likely to be an upgrade at the position for the next team that signs him.
Garrett Bradbury Out, Christian Darrisaw Questionable For Thursday Night
Minnesota Vikings center Garrett Bradbury (back) has been ruled out and tackle Christian Darrisaw (ankle) is officially questionable for the Thursday Night Football contest against the Philadelphia Eagles. A matchup with the elite Eagles defensive line is not a good time to deal with key offensive line injuries, so the Minnesota offense could be mightily affected. While there is no direct fantasy impact caused by these injuries, Kirk Cousins could face additional pressure and Alexander Mattison could have fewer running lanes in the NFC battle.
Vikings Reach Agreement To Bring Back Garrett Bradbury
The Minnesota Vikings reached an agreement to re-sign center Garrett Bradbury to a three-year deal worth $15.75 million on Tuesday, according to a source. The first-round pick in 2019 will remain the starting center for quarterback Kirk Cousins. It was important for the Vikings to retain the 27-year-old, as he's become one of the better centers in the NFL in his four seasons in the league. Bradbury played in a career-low 12 games in 2022 due to injuries, but he's started all 57 games that he's appeared in for Minnesota in his four campaigns.
Minnesota Vikings center Garrett Bradbury is set to be a free agent this summer. However, the organization is reportedly showing interest in re-signing the fourth-year starter. Bradbury was solid this past season with a PFF grade in the 70s and only allowed two sacks in 12 games. Sadly for the Vikings, the organization is currently $20 million over the cap. That being said, Minnesota might have to seek other options this offseason unless they find a way to save some money. Bradbury should have no issues finding another team, assuming the Vikings are unable to keep him around.
Minnesota Vikings center Garrett Bradbury (back) is inactive for Week 14 versus the Detroit Lions. He had been listed as questionable after practicing in a limited capacity all week long. The Vikings are down two key linemen in Bradbury and tackle Christian Darrisaw (concussion). While this could hurt the fantasy values of Dalvin Cook and Kirk Cousins, they should still be started in most leagues.
The Minnesota Vikings placed center Garrett Bradbury on the Reserve/COVID-19 list on Thursday. Bradbury will miss the first game of his three-year career this weekend against the Baltimore Ravens. A starter since being a first-round pick in 2019, the loss of Bradbury shouldn't go unnoticed for Minnesota's offensive line against a capable Ravens defense coming off their bye week. Mason Cole will get the start under center against Baltimore with Bradbury snapping a streak of 39 straight games played to begin his NFL career. Bradbury could be eligible to return in Week 10 against the Los Angeles Chargers.
The Minnesota Vikings selected North Carolina State center Garrett Bradbury with the No. 18 overall pick in the 2019 NFL draft. He's the first center off the board in the 2019 draft. Bradbury was also a star catcher in high school. He's a smart football player with great character and nice athleticism. Minnesota's offensive line has been a mess of late, so Bradbury will hopefully become an anchor on the O-line for years to come. It's great news for Dalvin Cook.
