Roschon Johnson Won't Play Against Steelers in Week 12

Chicago Bears running back Roschon Johnson (thumb) missed two consecutive practices and has been ruled out for Sunday's Week 12 contest against the Pittsburgh Steelers. Johnson was added to the injury report on Thursday and hasn't been able to get on the field since. The extent of his injury is unknown, but it won't have major ramifications in fantasy football anyway. He has just two carries for 17 yards through seven games this season, remaining buried in a depth role behind veteran D'Andre Swift and rookie Kyle Monangai. Travis Homer (hamstring, knee) has also been ruled out for this week, meaning Chicago may have to activate Brittain Brown from the practice squad to fill the No. 3 running back role.

Cole Kmet, Roschon Johnson Off the Injury Report for Week 10

Chicago Bears tight end Cole Kmet (concussion) and running back Roschon Johnson (back) have both been cleared from the injury report and are good to go for Sunday's matchup against the New York Giants. Kmet suffered the concussion during Chicago's Week 9 win at Cincinnati and won't miss any additional time after clearing the league's concussion protocol and practicing in full on Thursday and Friday. Rookie tight end Colston Loveland broke out for 118 yards and two touchdowns in his absence, and will likely eat into Kmet's snaps moving forward. Johnson, on the other hand, missed time at the beginning of the season with a foot injury and has been sidelined for the past two games with a back injury. The 24-year-old practiced in full on Friday and appears set to make his return as the Bears' RB3 behind D'Andre Swift and rookie Kyle Monangai in Week 10.

Roschon Johnson Back In Action In Week 2

Chicago Bears running back Roschon Johnson has been removed from the injury report and is set to make his 2025 debut in Week 2. Johnson returned to practice late last week after being sidelined with a foot injury since early August. The Bears struggled to establish the run in Week 1, with rookie quarterback Caleb Williams leading the team in rushing. D'Andre Swift operated as the clear workhorse, logging 81% of the snaps and handling 22 of Chicago's 23 running back touches. Johnson now enters a brutal matchup against the Detroit Lions, who allowed the second-fewest rushing yards to opposing backs in 2024. With uncertainty surrounding his health, role, and workload, Johnson is best left on fantasy benches for now.

Roschon Johnson Cleared to Play in Week 2

Chicago Bears running back Roschon Johnson (foot) practiced in full on Friday and is "good to go" for his team's Week 2 matchup against the Detroit Lions, per Kevin Fishbain of The Athletic. Johnson missed Week 1 due to a foot injury, and in that game, D'Andre Swift was the only Bears running back to record a carry. Now that Johnson is back in the lineup, he'll battle Chicago rookie Kyle Monangai for RB2 duties behind Swift. Johnson rushed for just 150 yards on 55 carries in 2024, but he scored six rushing touchdowns and has proven to be effective in a short-yardage role. While Johnson is not fantasy-relevant himself, he threatens to vulture goal-line opportunities away from Swift, who profiles as a low-end RB2/high-end RB3 against Detroit.

Roschon Johnson Limited in Practice on Thursday

Chicago Bears running back Roschon Johnson (foot) was limited in practice on Thursday with a foot injury, per Kevin Fishbain of The Athletic. Johnson did not play in the Bears' season opener against the Minnesota Vikings, and his status for Week 2 against the Detroit Lions is uncertain. D'Andre Swift was the only Chicago running back to record a rush attempt in Week 1, although Bears head coach Ben Johnson said earlier this week that he wants to get rookie back Kyle Monangai more touches going forward. Even if Roschon Johnson plays this week, he could be limited to an RB3 role on his own team. He should remain fantasy radars, but Swift managers should be aware that Johnson could vulture goal-line touches once he returns to the lineup.

Roschon Johnson Inactive on Monday Night

Chicago Bears running back Roschon Johnson (foot) has been ruled out for the Monday night contest against the division-rival Minnesota Vikings in Week 1. Johnson was able to get in a limited practice on Saturday after being listed as a DNP on Thursday and Friday, but it was not enough for the Bears to clear him to play in the season opener. He has been dealing with a foot injury since early August and could be in danger of missing Week 2 against the division-rival Detroit Lions as well. With the 24-year-old sidelined on Monday, rookie seventh-rounder Kyle Monangai is expected to work as D'Andre Swift's backup, although it probably won't amount to a ton of action in his first regular-season NFL game. If Johnson continues to miss time and Monangai impresses, it's not out of the question that Monangai could leapfrog Johnson on the RB depth chart.

Roschon Johnson Not Startable with Foot Injury

Chicago Bears running back Roschon Johnson (foot) is listed as questionable for Monday Night's matchup against the Minnesota Vikings. Johnson has not practiced fully since August 5 and only returned in a limited capacity on Saturday, casting doubt on his Week 1 readiness. Even if active, Johnson projects to handle a secondary role, behind starter D'Andre Swift, especially with his practice time missed leading up to this week. The matchup doesn't do him any favors either, as Minnesota's defense allowed the eighth-fewest fantasy points to running backs in 2024. Given the injury concerns and difficult matchup, Johnson should remain on fantasy benches in Week 1.

Roschon Johnson Questionable Monday Against Vikings

Chicago Bears running back Roschon Johnson (foot) is listed as questionable for Monday Night's divisional matchup against the Minnesota Vikings. Johnson was limited in practice on Saturday, but ESPN's Courtney Cronin speculated that it is a stretch we see Johnson this week. If he were to sit out, D'Andre Swift and Kyle Monangai will handle the backfield workload. Swift is projected for heavy volume, but a tough matchup against Minnesota's strong run defense drops him to a mid-tier RB2 for Week 1. Monangai would slide into the backup role behind Swift if Johnson misses the game. Johnson is expected to be a game-time decision and is too risky to start in fantasy this week, even if he plays. Fantasy managers should plan around Swift as the primary back and monitor Monangai for potential touches.

Roschon Johnson Trending in Wrong Direction for Week 1

Chicago Bears running back Roschon Johnson (foot) missed his second straight day of practice on Friday, putting him on track to at least be questionable for the Week 1 divisional clash against the Minnesota Vikings on Monday night if he's able to return to the practice field on Saturday. Meanwhile, rookie Kyle Monangai (hamstring) is also on the first injury report of the year, but he's in better shape to play on Monday night with two limited practices this week. The 24-year-old Johnson should only be rostered in deeper fantasy formats as a handcuff if you own starter D'Andre Swift. If Johnson is ruled out on Monday night, Swift could be looking at a heavy workload in the first game of the season. Monangai would be in for an elevated role in his NFL regular-season debut if he's active and Johnson doesn't end up playing, but he won't be a realistic option in starting fantasy lineups.

Roschon Johnson Misses Practice With Foot Injury

Chicago Bears running back Roschon Johnson (foot) is on the Week 1 injury report and was unable to take part in the first practice of the week on Thursday as the club prepares for a divisional clash in the season opener on Monday night against the Minnesota Vikings. Rookie Kyle Monangai (hamstring) is also on the injury report, but he was limited in Thursday's practice. It's still early, but Chicago's backfield is banged up going into their season opener. It's something that fantasy managers in deeper leagues should monitor if they're concerned about their RB depth. The 24-year-old Johnson didn't play in the preseason finale two weeks ago and could be in danger of missing Week 1, which could allow Monangai to have a bigger role right away behind D'Andre Swift. Johnson is merely a handcuff for those that have Swift rostered.
