Tyson Bagent Leads Touchdown Drive In Preseason Start

Chicago Bears quarterback Tyson Bagent threw for 57 yards on three completions and ran for a five-yard touchdown in the team's preseason finale Thursday night. The rushing score was set up by a 44-yard reception to wide receiver Nsimba Webster a few plays prior. Bagent played one more drive which resulted in a turnover on downs before getting the rest of the night off. The undrafted second-year quarterback is entrenched as the backup to Caleb Williams on Chicago's depth chart. He looks like one of the better backups in the NFL, picking up two wins in four starts as a rookie.

Tyson Bagent Completes 20 Passes In Win Over Panthers

Chicago Bears quarterback Tyson Bagent made the fourth start of his career on Thursday Night Football in Week 10. The undrafted rookie finished 20-of-33 for 162 yards and rushed six times for 12 yards. While he played a clean brand of football with no turnovers, his 174 total yards were the fewest he's put up in any start this season. Justin Fields (thumb) remained out again, despite being questionable earlier in the week. With the long layoff before their Week 11 game, there seems to be a good chance Fields returns and sends Bagent back to the bench. The Bears take on the Lions in Week 11, who allow the 14th most points per game to quarterbacks this season. Even if Fields has to miss another week, Bagent remains better suited out of lineups given how limited the offense has played with him under center. Without consistent rushing opportunities, there isn't any real reason to rely on Bagent in fantasy lineups.

Justin Fields Officially Inactive, Tyson Bagent Starting Thursday

Chicago Bears quarterback Justin Fields (thumb) is officially inactive on Thursday night as the team takes on the Carolina Panthers in Week 10. Rookie Tyson Bagent will make will make his fourth straight start as a result. Fields returned to practice last Friday and was limited this week, though, so he's clearly making progress and could make his return in Week 11 against the Detroit Lions after dislocating his right thumb in Week 6 against the Minnesota Vikings. The 24-year-old has so far been a massive bust for the Bears and fantasy managers in 2023, but he should remain rostered in all fantasy formats. Bagent has been serviceable given the fact he hails from a Division 2 school, and his ability to use his legs makes him a low-end QB2 option in superflex leagues against a very beatable Panthers defense on Thursday night. In his first four NFL games with Fields injured this year, Bagent has gone 74-for-110 (67.3 percent) for 697 yards, three touchdowns and six interceptions.

Tyson Bagent Likely To Start In Week 10

Chicago Bears rookie quarterback Tyson Bagent is likely to make one more start this season with Justin Fields (thumb) doubtful for Thursday Night Football. The undrafted rookie is coming off his most productive fantasy performance of the year, completing 18 of 30 passes for 220 yards and two passing touchdowns while also adding eight rushes for 70 yards on the ground in their 24-17 loss to the Saints. He finished as the QB9 in most formats, offering value due to his rushing ability. Bagent will step in if Fields cannot play, but the Panthers have allowed the seventh-fewest points per game to quarterbacks this season, making it a challenging matchup. Bagent is best left on the bench in most cases, except for deeper two-QB superflex leagues.

Tyson Bagent Shows Flashes In Week 9 Loss To Saints

Chicago Bears quarterback Tyson Bagent had his best fantasy output in the team's 24-17 loss to the Saints. With Justin Fields sidelined due to a thumb injury, Bagent completed 18-of-30 passes for 220 yards, notching two passing touchdowns but with three interceptions. He also showcased his mobility by rushing eight times for 70 yards, although he did lose a fumble. Despite the team's defeat, Bagent exceeded expectations as the stand-in for the starting quarterback. The possibility of Fields returning for Week 10, as hinted by Bears' GM Ryan Poles, looms on the horizon, which would relegate Bagent back to the bench for the rest of the season. Chicago is set to face the Panthers, a team that ranks 23rd in points allowed to quarterbacks this season. If Fields can't make a comeback, Bagent could hold value as a streaming option in deeper leagues, given his rushing capabilities.

Tyson Bagent To Start His Third Straight Game

Chicago Bears quarterback Tyson Bagent will start again in Week 9, as starter Justin Fields remains week-to-week with a thumb injury. The undrafted rookie is 1-1 in starts and has posted double-digit fantasy output in both contests. He went 25-for-37 against the Chargers in Week 8 for 232 yards and an interception and added a rushing touchdown. Bagent has either thrown or rushed for a touchdown in all three games he's appeared in. The matchup this week is more challenging, as the Saints allow the 25th-most points to quarterbacks this season. Avoid putting Bagent in your lineup if possible and consider other streamers on the waiver wire for Week 9.

Justin Fields Remains "Week-To-Week," Tyson Bagent To Start In Week 9

Chicago Bears quarterback Justin Fields (thumb) remains "week-to-week" while recovering from a dislocated right thumb that he suffered in Week 6. Head coach Matt Eberflus announced on Monday that rookie quarterback Tyson Bagent will be the team's starter once again in Week 9 against the New Orleans Saints. Fields will miss his third straight game this week, but there's a chance the 24-year-old will return to practice. Fantasy managers must keep him stashed in all formats. Bagent, a 23-year-old undrafted rookie out of Division 2 Shepherd College has completed 69.7% of his 66 attempts in his first two career starts against the Raiders and Chargers, throwing for 394 yards, two TDs (one passing, one rushing) and an interception. He'll continue to be a low-end QB2 option in superflex leagues until Fields returns.

Tyson Bagent Rushes For Second Career Touchdown

Chicago Bears quarterback Tyson Bagent was tasked with filling in for starter Justin Fields, who missed his second straight start due to a thumb injury. The undrafted rookie finished the day 25-of-37 for 232 yards and two interceptions, adding four attempts for negative one yard and a rushing touchdown in their 30-13 loss to the Chargers. He has rushed for a touchdown in two of the three games he's appeared in, boosting him to a second straight game over 10 points in most formats. The game script was incredibly favorable, as the Bears fell behind big early and were forced to throw almost the entire game. Fields might return to practice this week and take the starting job back from Bagent, who has been serviceable at best in his place. In Week 9, the Bears take on the Saints, who allow the seventh-fewest points to quarterbacks this season. If Bagent has to start again, he would be considered one of the less appealing streaming options at quarterback.

Tyson Bagent Likely To Start Week 8 Vs Chargers

Chicago Bears backup quarterback Tyson Bagent is set to make his second consecutive career start, following his impressive debut with a 30-12 victory over the Las Vegas Raiders. The undrafted rookie showcased some potential, completing 21 of 29 passes for 162 yards and a touchdown while contributing 24 rushing yards on three carries. With Justin Fields nursing a thumb injury and unlikely to play on Sunday, Bagent is poised to lead the Bears against the Los Angeles Chargers. The matchup appears promising, given the Chargers' vulnerability to opposing quarterbacks, as they have allowed the highest average points per game to this position. However, it's important to temper expectations, as the offensive strategy may be tailored to suit Bagent's limited experience. Consequently, his fantasy football ceiling may be relatively low. While he could offer value as a streaming option in deeper leagues or superflex formats, placing too much trust in Bagent remains a gamble, given his limited track record and the potential adjustments that may be made by opposing defenses as they gain more insight into his playing style.

Tyson Bagent To Make Another Start

Chicago Bears head coach Matt Eberflus said that "Tyson Bagent will be our starter" for the Week 8 game on Sunday Night Football against the Los Angeles Chargers. Eberflus called Justin Fields (thumb) doubtful to play, although he is making progress from a dislocated right thumb he suffered in Week 6. Bagent, an undrafted rookie, led the Bears to their second win of the year on Sunday over the Las Vegas Raiders, going 21-for-29 for 162 yards and a touchdown while running for 24 yards. The 23-year-old didn't do anything special, but he managed the game nicely and didn't turn the ball over in his first career start. Even against a shaky Chargers defense, Bagent will have a low ceiling and floor as a desperation QB2 in superflex leagues in Week 8.
