Cole Kmet News
Chicago Bears tight end Cole Kmet figures to play a big role yet again in the team's offense in 2022, and new offensive coordinator Luke Getsy is excited about using Kmet in different spots on the field. "I've been very impressed with Cole," Getsy said. "Again that mindset that we're trying to set, he's been a great example of that as well. And you go back to that thing we talked about before, just the ability, the flexibility as a player, I think he has all that stuff. So I'm excited to see him have a bunch of different roles in our offense." Kmet had 60 catches for 612 yards in the league's worst offense last year, so if quarterback Justin Fields can improve in Year 2, Kmet should improve as well.
Chicago Bears tight end Cole Kmet has emerged as one of the team's premier pass-catching weapons over the second half of the year. The second-year tight end enters Sunday's regular-season finale vs. Minnesota in pursuit of his first touchdown of the season, having amassed 56 catches for 564 yards. The Vikings' defense struggled to keep Kmet under wraps the last time they met in Week 15 with the 22-year-old making six grabs (on nine targets) for 71 yards, his second-highest total of the year. While Chicago will have Andy Dalton (and potentially Nick Foles) under center, Kmet retains significant DFS appeal, even as he has been unable to find the end zone. Another strong performance could bump him into consideration for being a starting tight end option come 2022 in medium-sized or larger season-long formats.
Chicago Bears tight end Cole Kmet caught three passes for 25 yards in the Bears 29-3 win over the Giants in Week 17. Kmet saw five targets in the game, a number he has eclipsed in each of his last five games played. Kmet has become more of a contributor in the offense in the second half of the season but has failed to make any truly impactful plays. The second-year tight end will head into the final game of the season with 56 receptions for 564 yards with zero touchdowns through 15 games played this season.
