Ravens Acquire Dre'Mont Jones from Titans

The Baltimore Ravens are acquiring edge rusher Dre'Mont Jones from the Tennessee Titans in exchange for a conditional fifth-round pick, according to Ian Rapoport of NFL Network. Jones has recorded 4.5 sacks and nine QB hits across nine games with Tennessee so far this season. The 28-year-old has recorded 35 career sacks across 99 career NFL games (61 starts). Jones should immediately play an important role for a Ravens defense that has started to round into form as it has gotten healthier in recent weeks. For the rebuilding Titans, second-year edge rusher Jaylen Harrell should see more playing time now that Jones is no longer in the mix.

Titans Sign Dre'Mont Jones To One-Year Deal

The Tennessee Titans signed free-agent defensive lineman Dre'Mont Jones on Wednesday to a one-year, $10 million deal, a source told ESPN's Adam Schefter. Jones will head to the AFC South after spending the last two years with the Seattle Seahawks, where he had 77 tackles (40 solo), 8.5 sacks, 12 tackles for loss, 25 QB hits and a forced fumble in 34 games (23 starts). The 28-year-old defensive end's numbers in 2024 were his lowest since his rookie season in 2019 with the Denver Broncos. The Broncos originally took him in the third round (71st overall) in 2019 out of Ohio State. In his six seasons in the NFL, Jones has 210 total tackles (116 solo), 30.5 sacks, 40 tackles for loss, 63 QB hits, one interception, seven pass breakups, three forced fumbles and a fumble recovery. Tennessee will be looking to pair him with Sebastian Joseph-Day alongside Jeffery Simmons.

Seahawks Release Dre'Mont Jones, Others

The Seattle Seahawks released outside linebacker Dre'Mont Jones, offensive tackle George Fan, safety Rayshawn Jenkins and defensive tackle Roy Robertson-Harris on Tuesday. Jones appeared in all 34 games in his two years in Seattle, although he took a big step back in 2024 with only four sacks, his lowest total since his rookie season in 2019. The 28-year-old started in only seven games last year and had 8.5 sacks, 77 tackles (12 for loss) and 25 QB hits in his time with the Seahawks. Fant, 32, spent most of the year on Injured Reserve in 2024 with a knee injury and only started in two games. Jenkins, 31, lost his starting job to Coby Bryant halfway through last year, which makes it no surprise that he's getting cut. Robertson-Harris, 31, was acquired in a trade last year with the Jaguars and had only 13 combined tackles in 11 games with the Seahawks.

Dre'Mont Jones' Cap Figure Is Untenable

The Athletic's Michael-Shawn Dugar writes that Seattle Seahawks linebacker Dre'Mont Jones' $25.6 million salary cap hit appears to be untenable. Jones is only 28 years old, but he might be the team's fifth-best pass-rusher when everyone is healthy, and the Seahawks could save $11.5 million by trading or releasing him. Seattle signed Jones to a three-year, $51 million contract in March of 2023, which at the time was the biggest external free-agent deal by average annual salary of the John Schneider era. In addition to potentially trading or cutting Jones, the Seahawks could save $17 million by trading or releasing aging receiver Tyler Lockett. Jones makes sense as a potential salary cap casualty after having a down year in 2024 with only 28 tackles (14 solo), four sacks, seven tackles for loss, 13 QB hits and a forced fumble in 17 games (seven starts).

Seahawks Expected To Sign Dre'Mont Jones

The Seattle Seahawks are expected to sign former Denver Broncos defensive end Dre'Mont Jones in free agency this week, according to sources. The deal is expected to be for three years and $51.53 million. He'll receive $23.5 million in Year 1 and $35.02 million over the final two years. Jones will be a huge addition to their defensive line. The 26-year-old had a career-high 47 tackles (24 solo), a career-high-tying 6.5 sacks, nine tackles for loss, 10 QB hits and a forced fumble in 13 starts in 2022 in his fourth season with the Broncos. He led Denver in sacks last year despite not playing a full season, and he was one of the most attractive defensive lineman on the open market this offseason.

Dre'Mont Jones Done For The Season

Denver Broncos defensive end Dre'Mont Jones (hip) is done for the year after the team placed him on injured reserve on Saturday. The 25-year-old was having a fantastic season before going down, amassing a career-high 47 total tackles and 6.5 sacks. With months of healing on the horizon, Jones will be a free agent heading into the 2023-24 campaign. Assuming he doesn't suffer any setbacks, IDP managers should monitor him throughout the offseason, as he'll make a viable fantasy option in deeper formats.
