Jets Depth Chart
Alijah Vera-Tucker News
New York Jets offensive lineman Alijah Vera-Tucker (Achilles) suffered a torn Achilles in the Week 5 win over the Denver Broncos. He was placed on Injured Reserve on Wednesday. The team is already without Duane Brown (hip), who was placed on IR after Week 2, so this is a problematic development for the Jets' offensive line. Expect Zach Wilson to be under pressure more often, especially in a matchup with the fierce Philadelphia Eagles defensive line in Week 6.

Alijah Vera-Tucker Expected To Miss Time
New York Jets offensive lineman Alijah Vera-Tucker (calf) is expected to miss time with a calf injury he suffered in the Week 5 win over the Denver Broncos on Sunday, but there is optimism heading into his MRI exam that it's just a calf injury and not an Achilles injury, according to sources. It's not obvious heading into his MRI exam that he's dealing with a torn Achilles, so he should be able to play again this year. How much time the 24-year-old misses is still to be determined. The former first-rounder in 2021 out of USC started all five games this year, so the Jets will need to move in another direction at guard for their Week 6 matchup against the Philadelphia Eagles on Sunday, Oct. 15.

Alijah Vera-Tucker To Miss The Rest Of The Season
New York Jets head coach Robert Saleh said that offensive lineman Alijah Vera-Tucker (triceps) suffered a torn triceps in the Week 7 win over the Denver Broncos and will now miss the rest of the season. Along with Vera-Tucker, the Jets also lost impressive rookie running back Breece Hall (knee) for the season due to a torn ACL. Losing the 23-year-old Vera-Tucker is a big blow to the Jets' offensive line for the rest of the year. Expect Mike Remmers to jump in and serve as the team's starting right tackle, beginning in a Week 8 matchup versus the New England Patriots.

Jets Sign First-Rounder Alijah Vera-Tucker Tuesday
The New York Jets signed first-round offensive guard Alijah Vera-Tucker (the 14th overall pick in this year's draft) to a four-year rookie deal worth $15.885 million fully guaranteed on Tuesday. The deal includes an $8.9 million signing bonus and a fifth-year team option. Vera-Tucker will line up on the left side next to left tackle Mekhi Becton as they try to protect rookie first-round quarterback Zach Wilson in 2021. The 6-foot-4, 315-pounder played both tackle and guard at USC, but he will be moved inside at the next level. He should start immediately in what has become a much improved offensive line in New York.

Alijah Vera-Tucker Heading To New York
The Jets selected USC guard Alijah Vera-Tucker with the 14th overall selection in the 2021 NFL Draft. With New York taking Zach Wilson out of BYU with the No. 2 overall pick, the team added some adequate protection to upgrade one of the worst offensive lines in the league. Arguably the best guard available, Vera-Tucker's presence in the Big Apple could make a difference in slightly raising the draft stocks of Wilson, Tevin Coleman, Denzel Mims, and Corey Davis, among others.
