Deebo Samuel News
San Francisco 49ers wide receiver Deebo Samuel hasn't officially rescinded his trade request from earlier this offseason, but he did show up for the team's mandatory minicamp, which is a positive. There's also not a lot of league-wide chatter about the potential for a trade right now. Of course, San Francisco continues to say that they have no interest in trading Samuel, who finished as the WR2 in fantasy last year, behind only Los Angeles Rams receiver Cooper Kupp. The 26-year-old Samuel apparently didn't care for being used as a running back in 2021, but that was mostly out of necessity due to all of the team's RB injuries. It remains to be seen if the two sides can work out a long-term contract extension, but as of right now, Samuel remains a strong WR1 target that will most likely remain with the team.
San Francisco 49ers wide receiver Deebo Samuel was on hand for mandatory minicamp practice on Tuesday, but he wasn't in uniform and was running on a side field. Samuel requested a trade this offseason, but the 49ers remain adamant that they have no intentions of sending the star receiver packing. It's good to see the 26-year-old present at mandatory minicamp, but he and the team likely still aren't on great terms just yet. Samuel finished as the WR2 behind Cooper Kupp last year with 77 catches for 1,405 yards, a league-leading 18.2 yards per catch and six touchdowns, adding 59 carries for 365 yards and another eight TDs on the ground. His ceiling may fall if he's not used as a runner as much in 2022, but regardless, he's a strong WR1 target.
San Francisco 49ers star wide receiver Deebo Samuel is expected to attend the team's mandatory minicamp on Tuesday, according to a source. Samuel skipped all of the team's voluntary organized team activities, but it was always the expectation that he'd show up for mandatory minicamp despite requesting a trade this offseason. The 49ers continue to say that they have no plans to actually trade Samuel. The 26-year-old was invaluable to fantasy managers last year, as he finished as the WR2 behind the Ram's Cooper Kupp. Samuel caught 77 of 120 targets for 1,405 yards and six touchdowns and added 59 rushing attempts for 365 yards and another eight touchdowns. It remains to be seen if the Niners will continue to use Samuel in the backfield if they don't trade him, but even if they don't, he'll be an elite WR1 in fantasy.
