Deebo Samuel News

Deebo Samuel Has Classic Jones Fracture

San Francisco 49ers wide receiver Deebo Samuel (foot) is dealing with a classic Jones fracture and could be ready to return in 10 to 12 weeks rather than the 12 to 16 weeks that was originally reported. Samuel could still be pushing it to be ready for the start of the regular season, and the risk of him starting the year on the Physically Unable to Perform list has caused him to fall down draft boards. The 24-year-old was one of the team's best pass-catchers as a rookie, hauling in 57 receptions for 802 yards and three touchdowns. With his injury, rookie Brandon Aiyuk, Kendrick Bourne and Trent Taylor become more attractive, at least early in the year. Samuel can be targeted as a WR4 with upside in fantasy drafts.

Deebo Samuel Suffers Broken Foot

San Francisco 49ers wide receiver Deebo Samuel (foot) suffered a broken foot during a throwing session on Tuesday with teammates in Nashville, Tennessee, and is undergoing surgery on Thursday, according to a source. It's a Jones fracture. Dr. Robert Anderson will perform the surgery, and Samuel should be able to return in 12 to 16 weeks, which gives him plenty of time to make an impact in 2020 if he makes a full recovery. The 24-year-old became a go-to receiver for the Niners in his rookie season on their way to a Super Bowl appearance. He caught 57 passes (81 targets) for 802 yards and three touchdowns in the regular season. Don't expect him to be ready for the start of the regular season, which will drop him out of consideration as a WR2 in fantasy. Rookie receiver Brandon Aiyuk becomes more attractive out of the gates, and the likes of Kendrick Bourne, Jalen Hurd, Dante Pettis and Trent Taylor will see more early season opportunity.

Deebo Samuel Shines In Spotlight

San Francisco 49ers wide receiver Deebo Samuel netted five of nine targets for 39 yards and added three rushes for 53 yards in the Super Bowl loss against the Kansas City Chiefs. The electric Samuel was the best offensive player for the Niners and was heavily featured throughout the game. The 2019 second-round draft pick was hyped as a dual-threat all season and he showed it on the NFLs biggest stage. Samuel emerged as the top aerial threat down the stretch and caps off a brilliant rookie year with 961 regular season scrimmage yards and six touchdowns. Hell garner WR2 fantasy buzz all offseason.
